I get that but a lot of the time the forum does represent the feelings of the community more often then not what you are hearing being voiced loudly on the forum is being said all over the game... in my experience anyway

No meltdown as far as I could see.

I ran FOS2 ( Power Core ) with a 189 mental DPS PftT, 189 earth DPS Hybrid, 192 celest healer and the rest at level...NO tank. Got bounced around like a red headed step child xD

    The other five consisted of:
    healer
    healer
    controller that had no clue
    healer / DPS clueless
DPS / tank ran as DPS & still clueless

We had a great run. ( Fun )
People made pick ups after the 192 healer & I made a couple pick ups
not many deaths ( not including the bridge )
3 wipes on bridge ( people not communicating but still fun )
Had to run all the mechanics on every boss ( it had been so long I forgot some things that happen LOL)
both 189 DPS were within 25k of each other
192 healer was 3 DPS on board *duh
NOT ONE COMPLAINT & we made sure that everyone was picked up on final boss too.

Other than the out of relevancy players not getting marks it was awesome. Marks Relevancy definitely needs to be removed now.

EDIT: Mental note* this was Expert FOS 2

I've never been a fan of "man up or shut up" comments, but I agree 100% with the OP. The game is finally fun again, and a challenge. I love it, and have only done a few 1-4 players content.

    Really looking forward to raids.

its like day one all over again. i'm finally going to get a chance to play today. Giving my first go with a hybrid spec with a pftt loadout saved in my first armory. i'm starting to think maybe a brand new alt would be a great way to go but then i remember things like the spectre open world missions and omacs...

last night i quickly played with a pfft spec and i was all over the place. the ads in typhons invasion melted away. i even simulated my AM but Kalibak and Mantis handed me my butt in the t7 duo (I also have to blame a very poor duo partner as well. Got through the Demons Plan alert well enough but was seriously out dps'd by another fellow 202 cr player...

    i'll figure it out.

i just hope its before christmas.

I don't think it is because it breaks records.

More like it broke the game and people keep on being DC and need to log back in constantly.

I got DC pretty much everytime I tried to use a portal.... so had to log back in a LOT.... sometimes could not and got a cannot connect to server message.... and had to try a couple of times to be able to log back in..... after waiting 5 min because of the queue even for Legendary players of course. ;)

While I agree with your sentiment of helping people adapt to the changes, there are people who don't want to adapt or improve their "skills". When T5 came out a lot of the casual players left because it was hard content. After that everything besides elite raids was catered to that crowd. More than likely, this is the crowd that is frustrated because now they have to think about a load out again. I was one of the people excited about AMs when they were first discusseds I enjoyed the prospect of actually seing the animations and not necessarily canceling animation all the time but when they actually released I was underwhelmed. Suddenly all option were taken away and there was basically one useful loadout. It also made the game waaaaaay easier.

I think the biggest problem is that after T5 SOE rejected the Hardcore players in a big way in favor of the instant cash of casuals. They likely drop more cash and are a revolving door. Most of the hardcore crowd was alienated by the devs and taunted by the more casual player base. Many of them left and were likely a steady stream of guaranteed money even if they were sub subscribers.

What alarms me the most is the attitude that they don't want to try and get better. They might find it more fun if they kept an open mind. The new players that play this game will have a better experience coming in because of this revamp in my opinion.

Do you have the numbers of how the "old customers" were keeping the game "up float"?

And I guess the "newbs" do not spend $$$ on DCUO??
They do not open Time Capsules??
They do not pay a subscription fee??
They do not buy the latest Starter Pack by Lexcorp package for new players??
I guess only "old customers" would pay $$$ for the Starter Pack by Lexcorp??

Newbs would never buy the Starter Pack by Lexcorp and keep the game "up float".... of course.

So... "old customers" were keeping the game up float??
    And Newbs don't?? Obviously.

And you have the numbers to back it up on how much the "old customers" were spending playing DCUO as opposed to the "Newbs"????

Not so sure if it's really people checking it out...
or people constantly being DC and needing to log back in every 5 min. o_O

    Well....

As far as Pot goes, personally I never bothered with getting the timing for double Pot down to almost a sub-conscious level. Could not really be bothered. What can I say? Just not my thing. I just made sure that as soon as that lightning bolt disppeared, I would put Pot out straight away, just so the group is not kept hanging. I still do not see really like auto-pot, but it does help the casuals more.

I still remember the old days of T4 where I was on my HL character as support troller, just waiting for the main troller with the higher Vit to resume Pot, which never came, which ended up with me taking Pot duty while still spamming power return while on lower Vit.

As for older content, well there will certainly be some content which requires tuning. So just report accordingly in the GU73: Content - Too Challenging thread.

Returning players... yeah agree, not so sure.

I get the feeling though you are more put off by things like excessive grinding, gear progression, poor customer service, poor feedback channels than the Revamp specifically. Those issues still exist, so yeah.. if excessive gear grinding is your main gripe, yeah the Revamp does not address that. I am quite sure that a few players like the changes from the Stat Revamp but still hate hate HATE the excessive gear grind, or aura grind etc just to keep up with the Joneses.

    Not really.

The game and the Forums are pretty much 2 different realities.

On the Forums... people complained that high level players would one shot NPCs.
In game.... people complain if you hold back and do NOT one shot NPCs. Or even worse.... if you play as a Troll instead of switching to DPS for MORE BURN.

What we see on the Forums and what we see in game..... 2 completely different realities.

Oh, I'm sorry some of us have been playing a certain way since launch now all of a sudden the game is completely revamped not to mention that this update completely screws casual players. This company just made a huge mistake by catering to maybe 30% of the player base. Believe me, after the newness of the Water powers wears off, you're going to see an exodus from this game that will make the one after the hack look like a long weekend. I mean, why do you think they're all of a sudden going to be releasing Water power now? So close to another update? Because they know people are going to stick it out for another month to see the new power that's why. There was nothing wrong with the game as it was but cry baby gaming gods said it was too easy. Well, now, only catering to that base is going to cost this game dearly. I hope I'm wrong but I fear I am not. This is supposed to be a game, a diversion from those of us who work for a living(school qualifies as work in this case) and not another aspect where we have to bust our butts. Games are supposed to be fun, not work and this game hasn't been fun in a long, long, time.

For Double Pot..... did not even need to think about it anymore...... it pretty much just was a reflex by now.

The new way PoT works will take some getting use to..... but I understand why they went that way.
To many players.... not only new ones..... did not seem to understand how PoT works.

So you had MANY Trolls not keeping up PoT.... or even having a power with PoT in their loadout.
So there was wayyyyy too many Trolls NOT giving power.

Now.... technically.... every Troll will give PoT as soon as they use a power.

But sadly.... I can already predict that we will see a new crop of Trolls who will only use their weapons and will find a way to not use a single power.

I don't mind the change to PoT all that much...... but I can guarantee you that many Trolls do not like that change.... at all. So either MANY Trolls will leave never to come back...... or will switch to playing DPS only.

For the older content too hard..... all we can do is wait for the Devs to rebalance the instances one by one pretty much like they had to do after GU47.

For the grind..... don't really care about that. Yes.... some of it is too excessive..... but I just ignore the grind and play the game how I want to play it.

For the gear progression..... of you don't care about having the TOP gear..... the gear from the Time Capsules do the job well enough.

For customer services and all the rest..... yes those issues still exists.
But the fact that other issues exist does not make it ok to create even MORE issues.

Although a BIG change like GU76...... it was certain that such a big GU would bring a truckload of issues.
Let's hope at least some of those issues get fixed fairly quickly.

Guess we will have to wait and see.

I have a question about the new control type. What about a lower vit player overwriting a higher vit player's PoT? That was one of my biggest peeves when I was controlling in a raid. When the guy 20 cr under you keeps overriding your much better PoT.

As a different note about the post specifically: Why should people be forced to go to outside sources to learn game mechanics that the game should be teaching us anyways? The tutorial is horrid for this game. It barely teaches anything compared to what knowledge is required to do well.
What's a supercharge generator? Is it for the sole purpose of filling the charge faster? Does it buff something to make other things fill the charge faster? Who knows. I've seen few posts even attempting to explain anything. Just whining about whining, like this one started as.
  18. Multiverse Guest

They got rid of overwritting PoT some time ago.

So whoever has the highest VIT gets the PoT by default.

    Unless that changed with GU76??

I'm not sure. I just came back to the game a month ago. But I was noticing very different power numbers ticking through the raid. I made sure to keep it up, but when I was getting 200+ ticks, there would also be 170 or so ticks as well. The only thing that made sense to me was that their PoT was ticking instead of mine. When I watched their toon, I saw them use their PoT power literally almost every time I did. I even used it, saw them use theirs, then used mine again...only to see them use theirs again. It sure seemed like they were trying to overwrite.
It was one of those 'fun' raids where players felt that having a controller meant fighting to keep their power at 0 :( His total numbers were really close to mine, though. I'm not sure how he did it if my PoT was the one staying up, with how I had to spam defib, along with my drone super, and count the ticks to double tick them.

And there it is... yet another forumite admitting "I barely even log on the game anymore" And yet some how people like you know exactly how the game "should" be played and how it "should" work. Do not get me wrong there are things about the revamp i like. I have been on raids that ACTUALLY had 2 healers and 2 trolls in the past few days and MY GOD I can't even recall the last time some thing like THAT happened on a PUG. heck I have even been on a number of alerts that had 1 healer, 1 troll and (OMG LOOK AT THAT----->) ! actual TANK (that would be me). And not a single player screaming about we need more BURN.

It is going to take some players a while to figure out what to do with all those skill points to make their character better. The problem is how many total revamps does this make? Frankly I'm still torn about staying or just leaving completely.. I'm tired of having to relearn the game every year or so because they had yet another "BRILLIANT" idea. And you want to hear the scary part? Some are already saying this revamp helped the support roles but screwed the DPS.. Too early to really say and the few missions I have been on are only a small glimpse but I actually out damaged a couple DPS with my Atomic Tank the past couple days. Since when does a Tank out damage a damage dealer?

And as for this? I'm sorry but wasn't one of the biggest things some of "THOSE" players were always harping about was that AM reduced the game to 1-2-3-4 and made everyone adhere to ONE formula for what went where in your attack tray? Oh and reading update notes? as many point out time and time again.. at least when it helps them illustrate their point of view.. a very small percentage of actual players in the game ever come near these forums to read anything up to and including patch notes... So they find out how screwed up things are when the log in and everything is a total mess.
