The Legends PVE event is fun, but the mode feels very outdated and could use some touching up

I posted this thread on Saturday where it got lost and was never approved by moderators to show up, so I'm resposting it. I hope that's alright.

Some background if it matters(it doesn't), I played legends PVP religiously back in the day and have every feat related to it, it was pretty much all I did in the game at the time. I quit playing around 2014 and got back into the game a few months back, so It's great seeing how this game evolved over time but legends feels jarringly outdated compared to the rest of the game.

I know it's not a very popular mode and investing in it would be seen as a waste of dev time, but this event has made it relevant for the short time being because of feats so I have some thoughts regardless. The obvious suggestion is to replace the character models with the newer ones but I assume there are technical issues in doing this or it would've been done already, plus I'd understand wanting to preserve the older models in some capacity. Regardless, what feels most awkward are the powersets that were given to the legends.

Not including skin variations, there are 39 characters for legends content(if I miscounted let me know). The 40th would've have been Gorilla Grodd but he didn't end up working out for whatever reason. A lot of the legends were released together as counterparts and as a result feel extremely similar with Kilowog and Arkillo being nearly identical. The issue is that so many of the legends have very stale movesets. I'm not doing the math on this, but at LEAST half of the characters have Swoop Attack, which in my opinion is the most boring ability in the game. The logic at the time might've been that swoop would've been a good gap closer without risking being blocked, but as of now it just takes up a precious skill slot on nearly every playable character. For Kryptonians I can kind of understand it, but it's even weirder on the lanterns. The mode could be spiced up by giving the legends new ability replacements to make them more unique across the board. Weapon variety is also not great with the extreme majority having martial arts and brawling but I understand the limits in adapting characters.

This is ignoring smaller issues such as Amon Sur having an absurdly long finisher that does hardly any damage, or Flash having a finisher but it's a slow brawling animation that feels awkward on his character, or Superman being one of the weakest characters to this day, or pet damage not being scaled up for PVE content. Overall I just want to see my favorite mode refreshed. I totally understand that there are bigger priorities like episode content, but I think that if the x10 feat completion was made into a permanent thing then the mode would remain somewhat active. Legends used to be such a popular mode with characters being added every episode, the feats no longer being inhumane to achieve feels great and gives everyone a reason to play it again.

I think people play LPVE for either the feats (hence the uptick in popularity on these 10x weeks) or to get some loot, namely legends marks....to buy legends toons...which they haven't added for a while now.

I don't think anyone really runs LPVE for fun. I'm sure there are a few, but if you want to 'whup butt' as a legends toon, you do LPVP...which has it's own problems. Reskins and a few tweaks in the Legends toons will not really make LPVE any more fun. Making them have a bit different moves might spice things up for 1 run or 2, but in the end spending 20-30 min in LPVE paradox ploding through the run, maybe even failing depending on your group draw, to get a handful of LPVE tokens is not really fun.

New maps would maybe add some interest in running LPVE, but honestly once you tick all the feats off, again, there would be little reason to re-run outside of a few marks you can gain quicker in a few LPVP wins....losses even.

Good luck though, it never hurts to ask I guess.

Now if you are talking about fixing legends powers and revitalizing LPVP...well that's a different story, one maybe worth talking about.

If they weren't such a slog, more people would enjoy them. I mean, it's got all the makings of a perfect part of the game: Iconic characters that people love in exciting adventures grouped up in crazy team-ups! It *sounds* ideal.

But the bosses have too much health, so you spend all your time just hitting and hitting over and over without making a dent and feeling less like a superhero and more like somebody doing a chore.

The variety of characters is fine - although it could be added to - but the sheer plodding FOREVER-ness of the instances is what kills LPVE. You just don't feel super at all in them. And you should. It should be one of the highlights of the game. It's a shame it isn't.

Yeah that's something I forgot to mention, damage felt like it wasn't adjusted for PVE content in general so you end up doing barely any damage to anything regardless of the character that you play. It's a chore to play any of the instances that aren't Trigon's Prison since it only lasts around 13 minutes

How do you make players hate playing as Batman.... LPVE frequency feats.
Slow, Boring, repetitive, painful cut scenes and the cruelest time sink I have come across in 35 years of gaming.

Burn LPvE to the ground and pee on the ashes.

Its fun when ppl arent afk, or kicking players at the last boss to invite their friends in for quick credits. Thats by far the lowest level of trash a person could possibly be

Without roles and progression it will never be a good mode. New skins and animations wont make it feel fresh, after all if I wanted to try out new powers Id go to LPVP, that isnt a right click spam fiesta for 20 minutes.

Just leave it as it is, we dont need to waste resources on something almost nobody ever enjoyed

I like the ideas of roles. Imagine Tanking with Bane, Healing with Zatanna\Poison Ivy, Trolling with Batman\Cyborg, etc. It would be pretty fun. New skins will give a bit of reason to run it until you run again out of Legends to buy. New Maps and if they put a little work into it, it can become a fun mode people will want to run more. And you don't even have to add feats. Maybe just add the characters to existing feats so It won't get boring running with Flash\Green Arrow all the time. So Canary and maybe Reverse Flash\Grodd.

I am still waiting for the day they will change the models in the Iconic Solos so we can play with new models. The transition looks weird from the new Wonder Woman model to her old one. :(

What really needs to be reviewed in LPVE is the damage power, for many people, when they talk about LPVE, it's seen as a super boring mode in the game, because it's relatively long and you don't feel any damage power, which is really a shame, because this mode could be more interesting than that. In this mode we play as the superheroes of the universe (or super villains) let's face it, it's kind of ironic to feel that way when you're playing the most powerful iconic characters in the universe.

I think the damage should be reviewed as well.

For many, this mode is seen as the burden of the game, at least in its current state.
