is there a game with a worse one than DCUO? i haven't seen one. fighting a set of adds surrounding you on all sides? sure, target a wooden box on the other side of the room.
If you think it's bad now, it used to be even worse. I can't think of a game with more awkward targeting.
How about that action fighting game .... Maybe that JRPG called .... Okay so I draw a complete and utter blank. Than again not surprised this targeting system has always been silly. I'm grateful that it's slightly less silly than it used to be but would be far happier if it wasn't silly at all.
Agreed. It can be okay with precision powers like celestial since you can destroy objects but with Atomic with might, I target an object and I have to move to target the ennemies.
The new Oa solo is a great example. These stupid green barrels that do nothing... I try to attack the black lanterns in front of me... My attacks go behind me or to the side to hit the barrel. What are these barrely anyway? Pure decoration? Why would we even need to target them?! WHRYYY? @_@
honestly there can be no other answer for those barrels, etc everywhere other than the developers [the only people who can place them there] doing so in ORDER to give you a false target and miss your ACTUAL one. ie, to spite and @#$% us up. if anyone needed proof off how they view the player as the enemy... this is a pretty good one.
Have you played ESO? The targeting system in ESO makes DCUO's targeting system look like future science.
I would agree the target system is not the greatest. There should be a button to target enemies only. Cycling quickly through targets is one of those unmentioned skills in the game, you would have to learn to master to play the game well. It should have been in the brainiac ship tutorial. Also how many players have accidently picked up the fire barrel next to the heal barrel? Most of the time I play I hard lock one add or the boss and use my aoe damage to handle the rest. I would say the worst place I've encountered so far would be Zamaron where the crystals are in 360 direction.
.... the 2 can not be compared.. unless the PC version has a self aim cursor (crosshair) targeting system like eso does... eso is AWESOME btw
Both Conbat based MMO's on PC and console yeah they can be compared. And ESO targeting is garbage, but yes it's a very cool game with a targeting system that is terrible.
im ta im not speaking of the game im speaking of the targeting system.. the usps servers do not have a crosshair freerange target system.. eso targeting system more like call of duty than dcuo.. so no they are not comparable
this works until you kill the add you're locked onto and the game decides to target the furthest away inanimate object again. while two adds are in melee range beating the crap out of you.
Lol this is funny cuz it's true. What really bothers me is that I can't increase the cameras sensitivity.
I find Final Fantasy XIV's targeting more annoying than this game. The tab targeting is very random in that game, and having to point and click is not something I'm used to in an MMO.
You are correct... on PC your target reticle is the center of your screen, so whereever you point the center camera crosshairs, that is what is targeted... there really is no "auto target" in ESO. DCUO's targeting system sucks supreme, however. Nothing like having it target barrels when you don't want them to, but never target a barrel when you do. The 'change target' option rarely works, and again, doesn't target barrels when you want even on manual.
the usps servers do not have this.. the targeting system is actually good for the most part.. you only target when you lock on.. or you attack pending which direction your facing the analog stick... i hope this talk of merging usps and uspc does not implement the pc target system into the ps servers
The only time I seem to target the Zamaron crystals is when I'm doing a channeled attack that does no damage to them. Once the npc's are cleared, I have trouble getting a lock on them at all. Things in the room add something to the design, even if they make for frustrating false targets. They shouldn't take priority with automatic target switching, though. The ability to target through/around walls just shouldn't be a permissible part of the design. Then there's this bug, which drives me nuts: https://dgcissuetracker.com/browse/DC-696 You switch target, but you and your channelled attack ignore it and keep attacking the wrong thing.
I'm USPS and personally think the targeting system is fantastic and wouldn't change it. I've played MANY games with targeting systems MUCH worse than DC's.
