As a dps player I hope never to have to run any kind of missions with any of you. Glad to know how the rest of the community feels about dps role. I don’t know why I even bother playing anymore with such hate.

100%....And I'll even do that sometimes. That doesn't stop everyone else from dropping them staggered out every 30 seconds like they were fighting Hydra and going for the skeleton count in 1 run.

Hey, there are exceptions to every rule, but 94.6% of the time(stat link to be provided 'SOON'), the people who will die and scream 'pickups'...then when someone else dies ignore the pickup. They will melee a boss that should NOT be meleed then scream at the tank and healer because they die. They will run ahead of the tank then be shocked when those 3 or 4 adds take them out. And yeah...likely they are the ones dropping orbs on Anti Monitor(later in the fight...when it's not 'safe') and wiping the group.

Sorry if that isn't you....but a lot of your brethren fit that description.

It’s okay my pets are my friends and although they have no free will they always stay by my side :)

I didn’t call you a cancer on the game.

Are you one of those incompetent dps players? If you’re given advice and learned from your mistakes to not repeat it again then no but if you feel like you are even after being told not to do certain things because of mechanics and not learning from it because you just want to pew pew pew and this process keeps happening more often than not it’s usually the dps who do these things as there are far more dps than support roles. If you feel like you’re taking it personally well, be upfront about why you feel like that. Hey it’s fine though, my patience is astounding after seeing many players not blocking and wiping every single time. It’s not going to cause me to quit the instance I’ll stay there till it’s finished. A teacher doesn’t quit on their students ;)

This thread is amusing to me.

I've tanked raids where it was me (tank), a dps, and a healer still alive. While the rest of the group wiped due to not understanding the mechanics. I've also run as a controller with 2 tanks, because the group could not understand how to lunge cyborg in the new 5D.

Tanks are usually the last ones standing and the group is at fault. If you go in and keep wiping to the same mechanics, it's not the tanks fault to feel like he can do a better job wasting time whittling down the boss than having to constantly wipe because someone couldn't understand to block, lunge, or just not do that.

If the tank is capable of soloing a boss, I'll cheer them on. If I know they wouldn't be able to handle it, because the mechanics say no, then I'd explain that to them. I can always leave if I feel the group isn't listening to reason.

It's amusing that there seems to be a big amount of hate for tanks lately.

I know my role and I know the mechanics of most of all of the missions although some I confess to have forgotten about until something bad happens. I’ve played this game since January 2014, I even started out as a tank but switched to dps after getting so much hate thrown at me whenever a mission did fail and we wiped - even though we did finish the mission. I took it personally because you made a blanket statement that all dps players are a cancer on the game.

How else am I to take it?

False, I never said all. I said there are far more incompetent dps players than they are support roles. If you know your role and learn from your mistakes then this doesn’t apply to you. The cancer that plagues this game isn’t all dps but a big portion of it as others have given reasons as to why that is. Again, if this doesn’t apply to you then don’t take offense.

Very well. But you should re-read how you phrased your statement to see how mean spirited it was interpreted to understand how I took it as an insult.

I can't believe how controversial this subject is and how stubborn people actually are about "dying is bad, mmmk?".

It should be common sense that this mentality people have is self destructive. Let's assume you are this tank and your group is absolutely abysmal. Nobody knows the mechanics and everyone is tired and isn't reacting to the big attacks.

Your solution is what? Do it yourself? So nobody learns anything. Everyone is bored. You spent an extra 20 minutes. Probably died because if you're stupid enough to think soloing a raid boss is a good idea... you're probably also stupid enough to use your soder and supply drop at the same time and run out of steam. If you succeeded... well... everyone else still sucks just as much as they did before and you screwed over the next tank that is fortunate enough to run into them.

Thank you for your service brothers.

So what you are saying is that we should actually communicate with each other?

I feel, either side, doesn't want to do this. First response is "wipe", okay, tank says, "okay". The person that caused the wipe in the first place does the same thing to cause it to wipe. Who's learning here?

Someone needs to talk about HOW (and not who is at fault) to beat a mechanic and the other party needs to actually listen. There is too much defensive attitude in this game, proof is in this thread. We automatically go into the defense when there is accusatory tone. Which, btw, the OP had a ton of.

Time in the battle, eyes, and ears should be all someone needs to learn regular raids. In elite this situation should never even arise because the tank should have enough respect for his group's ability to not waste their time with his shenanigans.

How long can one survive in a group that doesn't communicate? Got it. I'm done. Good day. :)

I group cheering on the last player alive is such a better vibe then those calling for wipes. As a tank I have no urge to solo a boss for 20 minutes either but sometimes it’s got to be done. It is a great time to go use the bathroom or grab a drink if it’s not you in the battle. People got to learn to chill out some.

Well first off, it's not my job as tank to teach anyone anything.
Considering the level and so these folks have, they Should Know already.

And if it takes 20mins, then so be it, let it be a lesson to pay attention to the mechanics and actually stay alive. Just enjoy the carry. And usually it don't be like that. But as a tank, I'll get tired and tired of constantly having to wipe cuz folks just don't pay mind to the mechanics. So I'll either leave y'all for dead, or finish it myself.

Don't go into a raid blind, learn the mechanics and you'll be right there beside yer tank.

Oh, and calling ppl who do this "Stupid", is not only Rude and uncalled for, it's unprofessional, and it really diminishes any credibility you have to this argument, as you begin to leave logic, and enter an emotional tirades. And none of us here care about how you Feel, but what you Know. Jus saiyan

You're seriously talking to me about professionalism in a video game... in a post full of weird typos... and telling me how little you care of my "feelings" while refusing to assist others because it's not "your job". That's really unprofessional... and stupid.

Ok, after reading this post, imma give me opinion as a tank player. IF this boss is low and I can kill it with everyone down I will do it. Did it with PZE and did with raids. It may take some extra time, but it will always be less than restarting. If everyone dies and the boss is like damn near full health just wipe. Why waste everyone's time by trying to prove your a god tank., but lets get one thing straight as a community. We have blasted every new and old tank player for trying to tank. if a dps dies to an explosion that's a scripted instakill they blame the healer.(had it happen yesterday) If a hallway add kills the dps player because they ran ahead its the tanks fault. What i see in this post is the reason why there is a tank shortage. People refuse to take responsibility for their actions and then tell the support role players that they are bad because the dps got one shotted by a skull attack and before anyone says anything obviously it's not all dps. To the 6% of you out there its been a blast doing raids.

Listen, in some instances you are correct teaching the raid mechanics to people that don't know is good for the community, but you gotta understand as a tank player you have to focus on the mechanics harder than any other role. tanks don't want to go into an instance and sit there for HOURS telling people that superman can one shot and that you have to turn the cog to do damage. Also the point of a raid is to beat the raid I do not care about the fact that if a tank solos a raid boss the other players won't know how to do it in the future. if they care about how to properly beat the boss. look it up on YouTube. if the boss goes down because the tank took 20 mins to solo it collect your loot and have a nice day. I get it that the mentality is bad because its not good for everyone, but people don't have time to teach a raid group every time. So if you die constantly in a raid look at what killed you in the combat log and learn how to avoid it in the future. It's worked for many and it will work for you too.
