Although the uses for SoP are very limited, you can't use them to craft consumables, you can't use them to buy gear from previous or future dlcs and you can't use them for the style vendor, so once you get the full set of gear from that dlc there's little point in saving them. Unless I misread or am missing something...

so I log in today...expected to see devs defend their previous ludicrous idea...and WOW.... this is a great idea...gives an EXTRA incentive to run/play DLC 11 and if u don't like that you can still gear up with AF and reach 106 for the upcoming DLCs... best of all::

NO RESTRICTION OF CONTENT in tier 6! ---> I was ready to leave to DCUO but....dang it you guys brought me back....again.

Wow, I am actually impressed. This actually seems like a good compromise.

You should receive either reward, no matter if the other is capped. We'll make sure there isn't an issue there.

I read it I know u will have to run DLC 11 to get the symbols of power BUT the number of symbols of power will be 1/2 of the required number of marks of fury to get DLC 11. Which is fine. But now i can play DLC 10 and DLC 11 and get marks of fury that can be used to purchase all gear in tier 6

That's actually a good point. It works out well for right now, but complicates things in future DLCs for people who want to play catch-up.

Maybe in the future they could allow these Symbols to be converted the same way we currently do with Marks.

This I don't understand. Why is the cap for MoF so low at 100? With all of the content that can be ran for MoF, and lesser content for SoP, it could be possible at times to need more SoP to buy a piece, but you're capped on MoF. The cap needs to be raised. Say you only have time for a duo or two. That means you're earning MoF from AF1, but no SoP. Come the time you want to buy a piece, you have been wasting MoF because you capped before you had the necessary SoP.

    I see your point here.
In the previous fix "Mark of Power in Solo content", players who wanted to do small content instances in DLC10 still had an option to buy gear in DLC11.
"Symbol of Power" is more of a solution for players who want to Play DLC11 and buy styles from DLC10.... going backwards.

I don't know what the right answer on this is for 'everyone'
Either way fits me. I'll be playing both DLCs at the same time... finishing off DLC10 styles and Feats while starting with DLC11 Alerts.

It might help if the Gear cost for DLC11 was 1 Symbol of Power : 3 Marks of Fury. This ensures that some content was completed in DLC11, but it does not require it to be the complete focus.

I don't get how anyone can complain about this.... It allows you to get marks in previous content but requires you to run at least SOME content from the DLC to purchase that gear... It makes perfect sense...

You want 94 gear? You have to run some content from HoP1. When you don't have time to run that, feel free to do some of the AF1 stuff since you'll still need MoF as well... Got too much MoF and you're hitting the cap? Turn them in for prestige....

I see no problems with this at all.... Maybe it's just me though.

There is benefit in running previous DLCs (or any content in any DLC in the tier), because you need more Marks of Fury than you need the secondary currency. You have the option to get those where you wish, and without necessarily resetting with replay badges.

Absolutely BRILLIANT solution Mepps! This change means the grind is still there, and players can run a variety of content. Kudos to you and the dev team. Now THATS what I call listening to your playerbase. Keep it up guys and girls :D

Oh can Hard-light get a little response and update in its dev discussion thread, the HL community is getting really irate.

Is the plan to drop extra symbols of power in the raids if you dont get a gear drop ? Also can we get a list of how many symbols of power we need to buy each piece of gear.

I think the MoF cap should gradually increase with each DLC until the next tier is released.

    I'm really liking this though.
    Thank you for the compromise.

This option is more of a restriction on players who refuse to ever play Alerts or Raids. This is a very, very small amount of people, and these people *should* play a few Alerts. They're roleless, they're not hardcore difficult, and they're really fun. Alerts really are small group content, and more like a duo than they are like a raid.

Currently, the gear cost doesn't increase (what you're dropping the biggest chunks of marks on) so it seems to make sense that the cap is similarly not increasing.

I don't understand your point of view this time BB. I made a chart for another post where I estimated that if they did nothing to the marks system, people would finish dlc 11 in 2.5 weeks. If they let our sources for MoF keep bloating we would finish whatever gear came out in dlc 13 in just one or 2 runs of every t6 instance available by then with 4 t6 dlcs. You could potentially buy all the gear ina new dlc without playing it all. That was not sustainable, I really disliked their original remedy , but something had to be done don't you think?

With this new proposal, they ensure anything you run will help you gain gear in the most current dlc, but will keep the newest content relevant.
Sore has been overquoted in all this but his post a few pages back explains perfectly how this is a perfect solution and definitely not square one.

Now you can run solos or duos or whatever you want from AF1 and have that be useful towards your gearing. Since gear has a lower cost in SoP it's likely after running a few dlc11 instances a few times, you'd have just enough MoF to buy a piece of gear but more than enough SoP. If you have left over SoP you can decide to run AF1 stuff to get the MoF you're missing and buy more gear without running dlc 11 stuff again.

Having previous dlc in a tier remain a relevant option to earn gear is a win, keeping the new instances useful because people are required to run them at least a little, is also a win.

Our opinions and all the data devs have show that we like to run all types of content, small, large, new and old this solution falls straight in the middle in my opinion. It lets you run any kind of content for meaningful rewards and it slows down people from rushing to the end of a new dlc.
