They haven't scheduled new DLC for Q4 so...maybe? About Save the Universe, I'm not so sure, because the new gear box from Doctor Fate's Daily Rewards grants the Orrery Guardian style, which used to be StU exclusive. I have a feeling they have to decide one of them to keep, the last StU was a mess, so I don't know. Also, considering the new (scarce) rewards we're getting for seasonals, I wonder if SM is even viable at this point - I wasn't here during SM, but I have a feeling that the base items were a big part of SM - and they haven't been giving us much of those lately...
If they do bring it back you can count on two things, heavy monetization like buying the currency outright in the Marketplace and tying it into Events system so you'll get login requirements for FOMO feats. For those reasons I don't want STU or SM back. Adding SP feats to SM and allowing players to buy it's currency kills the point of it. Plus new Devs can't make challenging content like old Devs so no way SM would intice Elite players. Also they'd need more base items and styles which they can't seem to make anymore. Also requiring all players to do some SM is again another reason it'd not be the same. There's so many points that Survival Mode wouldn't come back as it was. For StU yeah some of the same problems could they possibly upscale old content and make it lucrative to monetize it? I do hate there's a huge chunk of feats attached to StU that now I worry we'll never get before DCUO sunsets. Thanks Mepps would've been nice if you told us that StU would've been Twone and done back then I might've drank a tank of energy drinks and got em all done if I knew. But yeah I'm not holding out hope either if they come back but 2x arts did so maybe it will.
For STU, just bring back the OG STU runs and upscale them for Elite....make the counts 10x like the LPVE event and let us finish the feats. Or mix and match the instances vs having the 'theme' weeks. I realize this is not the same team who created STU, but they really need to look at some of the 'many year' commitments and find a way to honor them, not just throw up their hands and say 'meh....I never set that up, so screw it'. Even if it just came back for a few weeks a year, or came back at a few points vs a straight month long run, it should come back in some form. Heck, just designate different runs every week as STU and let people run them as is...clamped or 'casual' if upscaling is too hard. I think SM is trickier as at this point the divide between a standard 'good' player who should be able to advance pretty far(or finish) and someone that would be challenged by the final few levels of SM is so wide it would be hard to design. Maybe they'd need a SM+?
With the new event system I could see them figuring out a way to better monetize SM. I know quite a few people who are just waiting for SM to come back to play the game again.
Not having StU is even more painful considering part of the current DLC is upscaled older content...which is what StU is supposed to be. May as well make all content make those counters move if they're going to be this lazy about it.
Yeah, I don't really understand why they had the Batman/Superman/WW "day" events but didn't link them with StU. Seemed like a silly decision to me.
It's not like they couldn't just add the ability for them to count as +1 runs...at least for the 'regular' runs. I suppose runs that don't have an elite version can't count for the elite counts, but I know a few of the raids in there did have elites. If it's gone...it's gone. Find a way to allow us to finish the feats up, or just grant them. I'm not a fan of granting them, but again...if it's gone, let's just put it in the rear view.
Yeah, they haven't had it since 2023. Why not just link these "run old content" events with StU, which was all about running old content. They already link it to omni... at least they did. Or maybe Omni and StU can just be the same thing. It's just frustrating that there are "seasonal" event feats I can't get because the seasonal hasn't run in almost 2 years. (Survival mode doesn't bother me since the feats don't go towards SP) I would rather they just grant the feats instead of monetization since it's kinda on them for not opening the "seasonal" up again.
They love to rerun old content too. Presumably someone at Dimensional Ink knows how to code the STU events? Unless those Devs really are all gone. I could care less if they didn't add new styles or feats and we ran the same Superman and WW stuff. It's really feeling like total hubris they didn't tie in the WW etc days to STU. Like new bosses went we'll do reruns of content but not STU because it wasn't on my watch. SMH and I'm sure the in house excuse is we get enough SP feats from other sources namely their new Patrol Events. Seriously really mad at not getting STU for awhile more so than losing 2x arts and SM weeks going forward. My best guess is they couldn't readily monetize STU to get that sweet sweet whale cash so they don't care. Unbelievable.
The only thing I'd want from SM would be the Sixth Dimension Kryptonian hairstyle, which sells on the broker for hundreds of millions of dollars. As for Save the Universe, I'd want the Fuginaut chest style. The enhanced version is sold on Dr. Fate vendor, but I want the regular version, which I guess is only available during the StU.
Do you know what a strawman argument is Great Architect? I don't think you do. How about you keep your candor to yourself. Just defending DCUO's poor decision making and snarking at players who loyally play this game but see the quality of it going down isn't a good look Great Architect. Next time you feel like a ******** maybe think before you do. Go ride your strawmobile elsewhere out of my comments Great Strawman.
Even if they didn't know how to upscale the code, we'd still be able to get credit for runs in EEG (or maybe casual even) and clamped elite. I'd guess they know how to turn on the 'counts for credit for STU' tick somewhere. They obviously know how to add it for the outsiders and other 'theme' weeks. Yes, the upscaled runs, especially the elites with mechanics where there were none before (like TD and Fam Reunion) were the most interesting, but a tick is a tick is a tick. And uh....STRAWMAN....or GASLIGHT...or any of the other current "I don't feel like making a useful reply" buzzwords are today.
I mean who really knows? Sometimes it's like they have no idea just what they are doing with DCUO and then they manage to pull something together even though you wonder why it took forever to do it. I'm still confused why it took forever to make the menus be able to slide from left to right and back and forwards but hey they propped themselves greatly in the Producer's Letter either that no idea why it took 14 years though? Also why it took a new development team to go, "know what, let's let them be able to mail cash to their alts again except no cash by others and let them get 2x arts again but no bonus for feeding arts". Why did those decisions take like 3 years? Anyways I'm hoping the game stabilizes somewhat with the masterplan of Patrol Events are now out. It seems they are putting a lot on that so at least we know what they plan on doing now. Hopefully they address STU sooner than later even if it means we get it returning next year.
It would be cool if since they figured out how to lock mailing cash to alts, maybe we'd be able to mail 'account bound' things as well. Not that it's a huge deal to move via the shared bank, but it's a bit of a PITA if you are doing it often. Back and forth to alts, just to move a few things around is a bit of a pain, and the ability to ID same account alts SHOULD be a gateway towards getting that working.
