but then the stats are going to get enormous right? Numerically?
  2. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

This is something you guys IMO at least did perfectly. It simply makes sense, keep the gap between the bottom and top the same so new players don't get smashed harder and harder each season.

    And?

Yeah but those same people complain about not having anything to do once they have the top gear and all the top mods...

I think there should be PVP mods BTW, on a side note

Would creating one set of pvp and making the rewards purely cosmetic be an idea to think about? Most competitive pvp'ers only care about the battle and gearing up is simply a means to an end. I think using new weapon or clothing styles as incentives would be cool. Only have one cash set. This will allow the ability to disable pvp gear in arenas. With leaderboards on the way , you guys could maybe come up with other unique rewards for top players.

This is just a thought and may be a terrible idea in the grand scheme of things.

Same thing happens in PVE but we don't reset that progress everytime a new tier is added. :).

The idea is that the competition level between the top and bottom geared will always remain the same. There's no reset needed to do that.

Maybe the devs shouldn't have created the PvP seasons then. As far as I've seen they've been nothing but a frustration. Issues with map rotations, issues with the gear stats. Should just PvP back to the way it was before this stupid seasonal stuff and get a fresh start. PvP needs to be fixed, not rehashing the same old thing. It's infuriating that I can't do the the Moon or Rescue missions. It's infuriating that I am legendary but only have access to 5 - 10 PvP maps at a time. Just my opinion of course. I never liked the idea of the PvP seasons and they haven't changed my mind.

Just saying that no one can really deny that with t5 OC raids it really feels like a different game all together. The raids are just made with different mechanics (1 shots in mind) No amount of nerfing will ever bring them in line to what a DCUO raid is because they weren't made with dcuo in mind.

I really can't see anyone running them at all after WOTL drops and that's a shame because they did take months to create the dlc. OC dlc is the pve version of Last laugh pvp dlc. When people ask in chat what do I buy now it will always be home turf (trinkets/buffs) HOF (utility belts) WOTL (T5 gear/weapons that can be bought) SoT (great t5 way to get marks) There is nothing about OC that will make it stand the test of time. Especially the fun factor that is non existent in the raids.

well PVP and PVE is different, there is a steady or should be a steady progression in PVE, I do think that stats and styles should be unlinked, when you go to a vendor, you should buy the stats for the role you desire, not worry about the style that is attached to it, put the new styles in the content as more drops, that would make more sense to me.

Maybe I don't understand the PVP progression when a new PVP season starts. How does a new PVP player and a veteran PVP player match up?
  10. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

I got a good amount of time out of OC. 5-6 months of enjoying the raids is all I can ask for. It was more than what Battle for earth gave me at least IMO.

That is what seasonal gear does. Take a look at the posts about it.
  12. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

I think he's saying stop with the progression completely. No more stats. Introduce styles/whatever as motivation to continue to earn marks. It's not a terrible idea. but I think the plan you all have is perfectly fine :)

Haven't been on for a while. This is the first time in a number of months.

The level of competition between a new and veteran PVP is still pretty huge. But the gear isn't why. The gear difference is actually pretty good.

But on top of that gear progression you also have:

Mods, expert mods are a LOT of stats

HT tactical Mods, Goes from Photon being /meh, to Photon being a godly power. Healers/tanks doing bad dps to doing great dps

HT Trinkets, removed from deathmatches, but that's only a couple maps.

Consumables, again if you have experts you're leagues ahead. Electrostatic/Ampoule of Terror being the two big ones for PVP although others are good too.

Soders, Next soders vs Extremes is quit a large jump.

Then there's the PVE gear issues but hopefully they'll get that fixes sooner rather than later :(

The gear progression is great, it's all the other stuff that makes entering PVP tough.

In regards to the gearing up side of this, I would put forward that it was the lockouts that caused the most frustration and resentment. The replay badges are being removed from PvP when Season 2 hits (which is GU33).

I really liked the system you had back when there was only a cash set, influence set, and a mark of conquest set. You could earn influence and marks at the same time yet you were still encouraged to complete both for the feats. And influence was good for those nifty influence boxes. The current season has 1 cash set and 4 mark of valor sets which just seems like way too many unnecessary tiers.
  17. JEEBIE Steadfast Player

    Gotta agree.

Also influence could be reintroduced as a means of acquiring Consumables/Soders on the same level of those gained through PVE. Soder Nexts purchased for Influence would be nice to even things out.

It's only one more set than we had before we introduced the seasonal, which was going to be the time we introduced a new tier anyway. I'm happy with the system the way it is being implemented, and it's certainly something we're sticking with for at least a few seasons.

This maintains the spirit of the old system, and allows for progression to play a part, without widening the gap of power as the seasons roll on.

Keep in mind, if you are already at the top, you only have to get the one knew set, and then pick up any of the variant styles on the ladder below you, if you choose.
  19. Karasawa Loyal Player

I was thinking they could reintroduce influence as a way to get those old pvp styles like checkmate and malevolent knight. I know a lot of people who haven't had much luck getting them from the vault.

The vault does have 2 SP locked up quite tight.

Spytle what are the changes of rotating the styles each Season as well. Lots of feats with thos checkmate/malevolent knight sets.
