Devs did it with the Seasonal and it prevented 2 second matches. I've seen people complain about lack of marks from content because they are too high, low CR's getting walked through content with no idea how to work with roles or as a team. Seen low levels complain about high levels making everything too easy.

So I would recommend Stat Clamping high CR's not low CR's.
Example: 137 CR wants to do Tier 1 Instances for styles, prestige points, treasure chest, feats for doing duos.alerts and raids at all....they should be reduced to the maximum CR requires for instance. But a low CR going in stays as he/she is with stats.

Skill points seems trickier. I would say never below the WM requirements ever, yet a 200 skill points in Tier 1 is insane. Yes there will be a type of "walking" of low levels still but nothing like the joke it is today. Just hard to have gamer respect for someone who earned nothing on their own. Not be mistaken with real life respect which is not the same thing.

bye, nice attempt but you didn't need to stat clamp your spelling. lol Honestly beyond "walking" low CR why would you be against such a thing unless you are only as good as your gear?

Why do you fear the Clamp....the Clap sure but this? Give a REASON that it's a bad idea along with why you need such high stats for low level instances.

During the whole year youve been saving money for your vacations. It was hard, you had to work extra hours, it was tedious. But you knew that at the right moment, you were going to have an amazing vacations.
But then...when the time comes, someone comes and tells you "Hey! No! you cant go on a vacations with all that money. Give me that!", he takes your money and then gives you 25% of what you had and tells you "here...use this instead and have fun".

Open world your stats would not be clamped nor in instances your level. I know what you mean it feels awesome to just shred through enemies that once took 8 people to kill but that gets old real fast.

Not really. Soloing EO will always be fun.

If it were optional with some sort of usable reward, I'd be in favor of clamping. If it were forced or top tier players earned nothing worthwhile by running the content clamped, no way.

Because I play to make my character more powerful, not just open more content

More powerful? More like an adult smacking a baby. And yes the reward would be getting everything you get now as well as a mark of victory which gives players buying gear incentive

Edit: I see you added Marks to the reward for this. I say yes to that, but not "mandatory" clamping. No way. I like to smack babies!

Any tier once fully geared its a vaction and every feats easily or somewhat easy to obtain IF UR NOT HIDING BEHIND STATS AND GEAR. My view is facerolling is pointless and if its a faceroll I wont be there. Fully geared in t4 going at prime though well I dropped it under geared, and fully geared we bullied it so why would I not wanna go back and enjoy the beautiful design and fun content?

For styles and prestige I mean if the groups awful and dont try and learn no big loss try again but one way provides a fun experience sometimes and a better skilled community with plenty 2 do and the other way is facerolling.
Id go so far as to say only 4hise who hide behind gear object

So you run old content you have a thousand times before with no to little rewards NOW for what reason? Few reasons come to mind but all pointless beside training the new generation of players with no idea how to work as a team. And pretty sure your 99% is a made up number much like the DCUO Ego Effect.

The idea of being able to go back and get revenge on instances that slapped you around is great. (not clamped)
The idea of mechanics never being facerolled is also great. (clamped)
The original idea, before flattening, was clamping, with the ability to walk in and faceroll for styles. I still wish they had done it that way.

Now, with unified marks and relevancy, I think going in clamped would make it relevant, going into an un-clamped walk-in would make it not relevant. Could you farm lower tiers for high tier vendor gear ... yes, but you'd have to do it clamped so it should be just as challenging (if not moreso) and time consuming as running current content. I think the walk-in alternative allows for both sides to be happy.

I think it's also the solution for bringing experienced players into lower tiers without them demolishing them. Since people learn mechanics/roles/powers from peer interactions, we need to have this happen early on. We need to have old players meet new people, as well as new players meet experienced players.

I go into instances and clamp myself. I remove enough gear to be at the maximum equipped combat rating for the tier. Now, here's the hitch: If the group fails over and over again and decides to disband, I can vote no, end up solo in the instance, put my top gear on, and solo the rest of the instance to chase styles.

When it takes hours and sometimes days to get into certain alerts/raids on the USPC villain side, I like having the option to still complete it after everyone else gives up. I spend time teaching first, but in the end, I do want to receive the styles I'm chasing.

I concede your point ONLY if it's with other high CR running mates. 100% against "walking" players to high CR too fast because it steals from the challenge and community feeling when you know you need a team. Plenty enough of high CR's running low level content. You all run together and let the low CR's learn to work together

If you remove gear then you are a rare situation and I have not seen anyone do that myself. Open world and Seasonal and PVP is enough for low tier and experienced to meet as well as experienced players that make new toons would be able to interact with new players.

The Clamp is as bad as the Clap.
Once you have the Clamp...... it is FOREVER!!!! ;) ;)

Look at the seasonal for proof of that.
No matter how much fail we see in the seasonals..... we are still stuck with the Clamp.

As for reasons....... sadly there is a LOT of fail groups in DCUO.

The only option you have with fail groups is to overgear the content.
But if you put the Clamp on...... overgearing will no longer be an option.

And before you say.... "But.... it would be optional."

    No.
    No it would not.

And even after people were DEAD SET against the Clamp when it was first mentioned..... we were told the "But it would be optional" excuse. And at the time.... the consensus was pretty clear..... people did NOT want the Clamp. People did NOT want their characters nerfed.

But then it was added to the Seasonals....... and......... oupsies....... it was NOT optional.

And then we had CR scaling... which had the same goal as the Clamp.... to nerf our toons....... and again.....
    Oupsies....... it was NOT optional.

    So no thanks.

    No Clamp please.
because we know ALL TOO WELL by now that if they deicide to add something like the Clamp......
    it will NOT be optional.

    So....... no Clamp please.

I could go on and on..... and if you ask.... I will...... but that will be enough.....
    for now. ;) ;)

As Seth mentioned........ the solution is there for people who wants more challenge.
    It has ALWAYS been there.

    Take off your gear.

You want more challenger playing T1 missions?? take of you T5 gear until you have the equivalent of a T1 set of gear.

    It's not rocket surgery.

But people do NOT want a challenge.

They just want to nerf everyone else.

And to that..... I say..... NO.

Stat Clamping in instances will hit the brakes on "walking" to a large degree, allow higher CR players to get more marks to buy gear their level or just for style feats, and will promote mmo community of team work. I'm sorry but all your points suggest you do not appreciate the hard work the Devs put into the design, or skilled role players using teamwork. None of which do I care for. From posts I have seen, it seems pretty divided opinion not cut and dry as some would suggest.
