Very defensive. I called out your post as being what it was. False/lies. Didn’t say anything about your character but hey if that’s all you have to say, just proves my point that you only speak from emotion and not facts.

This here is actually the most important question - If grains of time are still used the next time StU returns then everyone is going to have hoarded marks and the entire event will be over in the first 10 minutes.

The developers must change the marks for the next iteration of StU or risk undermining the entire event in the same way people in the past have hoarded marks and finished things before they've even begun.

Just like how we do for every seasonal but the seasonal currency stays the same.

Seasonal's are not half a DLC's worth of gear progression Lorax.

They are also not the intended piece of relevant content for a significant period, like StU.

StU might be considered an event, but it is not by any means like a seasonal.

Again, if they leave it as grains of time, then people will be done with it day 1 and guess what happens then Lorax.

    1. They log off for the entire duration
    2. They complain about boredom.

I think you're jumping the gun because we don't know in what state the regular and elite gear will be when Save the Universe returns. Will it be the same item level? Will it be an updated item level? Will it be converted into scaling item level? Will there be new gear? Will Save the Universe exist to fill in between episodes or will it be a bonus week?

The Omnipotent gloves we can safely guess will remain the same or possibly return with a slight level increase. Please see the Omnipotent items from the Starro event that returned with Episode 31: Deluge.

I think it is abundantly obvious what I was talking about.

If there are changes to the structure that neither of us know about then those are changes that will occur, I'm not here to discuss hypothetical changes I'm here to express concern that at the very least 'a mark change' must occur, because it simply should.

If the structure of StU returns in a similar fashion to the way it is currently structured.

i.e. it simply returns with a new gear set or a scaled up gear set, with new scaled up content etc, and it is required that we purchase said gear then the marks used to purchase that gear MUST change.

I'm not saying this in an attempt to urinate in your cereal it's simply a cold hard fact. If the marks remain grains of time and people have 999 saved up before StU returns and the gear costs grains of time then people are going to buy the full set on the very first day.

Once they've done that they will leave the game for another and/or complain about how crappy the content is and how they're bored.

Not to mention the fact, from Dimensional Ink's perspective they've literally killed their replay badge sales - not that they need me pointing that out.

    This is not rocket science.

Lorax, I like you mate, but you evidently have no idea how the shrewd players among us would use this to their advantage to entirely undermine the next StU event before it even begins.

It would also not be the first time it would have occurred and it was the very reason marks during the periods of like Amazon Fury were capped so low, so as to avoid people stocking up before further release(s) which is exactly what players were doing.

When Save the Universe returns and it returns with better gear than I completely agree with you. However there's been no feedback that it will return with better gear, all they've said is "new rewards". So let's say it returns with no new gear just base items and additional styles, we buy all that first day and then what happens?

No worries. I don't think we are that far apart.

If StU were to run alongside an existing DLC and offered nothing other than cosmetics then I have no issue with it other than to express the same level of concern that presently exists within any other seasonal event. Obviously players hoard marks for seasonal events and then finish them on the first day, including myself at times.

Although even I and likely even you participate in such action, it's probably not entirely ideal in terms of the health for the game, it may be ideal from our selfish perspective of 'making life easier' for ourselves, but it doesn't really help the game in terms of ensuring a reasonable level of ongoing player activity for the entire duration of an events lifecycle.

To reiterate the obvious point though, if StU were to return as the primary relevant content or include progress in any way in the form of gear then I stand by my view that the currency (mark) must be changed in order to preserve any sort of longevity that iteration of StU was hoping to achieve.

Realistically as healthy game advocates (putting to one side any selfish desires for personal betterment or gain) we want to have systems in place that encourage as much game time as possible not a system that readily allows for players to basically pre-purchase everything.

I guess you could argue that player might pre-purchase everything then continue to play to build a wealth of marks for the following year and despite the fact they've bought everything might remain active. However, I would warn against readily allowing such a position because the motivation to simply build a nest egg for a subsequent is a much weaker carrot than compelling someone to run something to actively obtain something that already exists.

I would also suggest that the proposition that people effectively play a year in advance is a somewhat perverse approach to a video game, although you're welcome to disagree.

As always good chat Lorax, I can't imagine we'll entirely convince each other of our viewpoints, I think we've reached some level of agreement with some points and not in others, but all is good :)

There's still the counter feats that I'm sure not everyone has finished yet, or cares to anyway.

LOL, I've finished some of them, but given they go to 250, I think the sane among us haven't attempted to grind those out in one iteration.

That's one carrot I will not be chasing.
