But the thing is, you couldn't really think of completing Nexus and Wave coming out the bat with t4. That's the difference, there was a slight grind in order to even stand a chance in the raids. Then it heavily relied on teamwork and communication (something that's hard to comeby in this community). There's a different satisfactory feeling when completing these raids to completing Nexus or Wave (which took SEVERAL trials and errors pre-nerf)
T5 launched with two Iconic solos, two 4 man operations, and two 8 man raids. The complaints back then were 1) people didn't like playing as Iconics in pve 2) the 4 man operations took too long and 3) the raids were too hard for the majority of the community to complete. Not saying I agree with each grievance, but those three complaints were expressed very loudly and very often on the forums. People who couldn't beat the raids couldn't progress, and because the raids were two of the most difficult ever released many had to wait until Sons of Trigon before they could regularly beat them. My main point is that the number of relevant instances to run for at tier gear progression has always been small at the start of each tier. If people don't like the content then I can't argue that; we all have differing opinions on what we find enjoyable. However, to say that there isn't enough content for gear progression holds no weight.
The comment I originally quoted said there was not enough content currently available at T7 for gear progression. The game is designed for this to always be the case. There are only two alternatives to the current set up, neither of which are feasible: -Allow lower tier instances to reward marks for T7 progression. This doesn't make sense nor does it have any precedence, as a player could never step foot into a T7 instance yet earn enough marks to buy a complete set of 108 gear. -Launch new tiers with a large amount of content. The current plan is for small amounts of content to be added on a monthly basis. For a large amount of instances to be available the devs would need 6-12 months, time the community will not afford them.
This, in my mind, is the only valid complaint. Catalyst purchases too, but I feel not allowing players to purchase older gear sets is the only negative of the new mark system.
I guess that is true after looking back and seeing the content. It's hard to go from having X(lets just say 5+) relevant alerts, and raids to only having 2 of each. I think people are expecting FULL tiers right of the bat. (I know I do). That or at least be able to feel some type of progression from doing instances for about a good week or two. Not running one solo and maybe a duo everyday and hoping for a decent drop. In a way, now you cant compare the progression of t6-t7 to how t3 to t4 ,or t4 to t5 because the stat changing to be more linear now. In all, it's just a lot of different things I see when I look at this and other particular DLCs. I guess that's what being a consumer does.
Ran into another negative today: transmuting exobits. I'm having to slow my progression in order to make mods. I did not used to have to do that in the old system. A tier 2 alert was enough to transmute two stacks of fortifieds due to the reward box. They should add catalyst I, II and III for tier 1, 2, and 3 content drops respectively to compensate. They should drop somewhat rarely but in addition to the current loot and not be added to the loot table. I do not want to have catalyst I, II, and IIIs dropping and making it harder to get tier 1, 2, and 3 styles.
The rare vender style vender should be assessable to anyone who past that tier. Furthermore we need a different mark just for main frame, style vender(s), and crafting. 1 mark for everything is the worst idea. there is a reason most mmo's do not have 1 currency to bu vender gear and crafting stuff.....ect FFXIV alone has at least 6 different currencies which 2 are strictly for vender gear. Players need options... I've played dcuo since 2011 and always thought this game gave you several options for doing multiple things and now that gu47 dropped the game feels limited. The game is taking a step backwards. I agree that there needs to be 1 mark just fro vender gear but not 1 mark for everything in the game.
You all could maybe take into account that the loot system is so much better now that using marks to actually buy gear isn't quite as necessary. Yea it sucks that we can't run old content, and including AF2 at least would have alleviated most of the issues with this change. Either way, it is ALMOST no different than any other tier start-up. When AF1 came out, you had less content, less marks, and rare style vendor was still 70 marks. Difference is, the drop rate of AF1 was horrible, and didn't even have a raid for "best" gear, you HAD to buy gear to be max CR. Also, the whole "we got marks of triumph before" argument is pointless. Until we got boost 3 mainframes, everyone just complained about nothing to spend them on. After we got it, it was more of an annoyance than a benefit having to either run old content or spend 13 marks per boost per month to keep up with them. Now I can spend 7 every 2 months, I don't NEED to rely on vendor gear to progress as drops are flowing in and better anyways, and I can just use the marks for rare styles if I need them. Also to note, I enjoy PLAYING the game. I ran AF2 content 4 times on 1 toon without ever spending a replay last week, just because I was having fun running them. Sure I don't do this every week, it was mostly to have fun with melee post GU 47, but it was fun and that is what I play games for.
This new update is just fatal for a newbie like me. i've been playing for two month now and didnt't obtain all old styles yet. so i still need 3700 marks to get all style gear from old content using the same currency.....this doesn't make any sense. i have to farm over one year to get old gear and if i do so my cr can't improve since i have to spent the same marks on the current gear. So after two month of playing i decided to quit this game. Why? simple... 1.putting one currency for all tiers is just nuts...you guys want me to buy those replay badges, but that's not going to happen. 2. raiding older content like t4 or t5 and wipe all day long is a waste since the enemies are op and everyone wich has low cr dies instant 3.after hitting cr 117 there is nothing really to do 4. the new area looks nice but for me is just a small playground....you can't call this content! 5. machtmaking for instance are horrible...4 dmg and no heal or tank? sometimes two tanks and two trolls? just like playing roulette. 6. all dlc for the german version is without sound...i'm old but not deaf...playing a game with no sound is just a waste aswell. 7. taking out the hunt of a game is the worst thing that a developer can do.... so all i can do is collecting briefings and investigation....now dear devs...would you like to play a game like this? if you don't believe me join a lower raid and see how people are leaving raging the whole time. I'dont mind wiping..i wiped almost 80 times in wow during sunwell times in one day...but his game is nothing else then a broken product....it was fun but now it's just broken.

I'm saying you couldn't buy rare styles or end game vendor gear with Marks of Triumph because you couldn't. I don't know how you're offended by that.
