SM and why?

Let say that hypothetically, the devs does implement feats for completing "x" number of round, how would the feat work? You going to have:

    a) Complete round "x" in sm
    or
    b) Complete round "x" in "insert location" sm

Let say devs implement option a). then I could just go head and get half the skill point in one season of sm and never again have to play sm because I already got the feats. If the devs implement option b). then if i were happen to miss the month that trigon sm, I won't be able to get that half a sp for atleast a year if not more.

Also as the game continue to product gears with higher stats, we will be able to get pass round 10. Next thing you know, some group will be able to beat round 20 and get 1 SP. Now maybe 1sp probably won't "set the world on fire" but for those feats/sp hunters out there that competing to get the max sp...that could be a game changer.

Unfortunately mate, yes, 1 feat is seen by many of the games worst elitists as progression.
There is far too much emphasis put on "Skill" points as it is.
I agree that more than a style reward would be nice,
But let's not feed the already fat greedy SP ****** with any more reason to ***** and moan.

I always find it funny when ppl try to put SM down only because there is nothing in it that helps with progression.
As if progression is the only reason why ppl turn on their consoles and play video games.

This is the reason I always decline to go in. Ran the first SM once.. got to round 5. Was enough for me. Same reason I do not solo raids.. I love a challenge but not for nothing.

Not the only reason but the reason I turn on THIS game. Dont like wasting time in MMOs.. I play other games and this is my number 2 game anyway. I want to progress and play other games. 2 hours for a shirt or a base item.. nah.. if I want to decorate I play the sims.. if I want to roam ill play gta or far cry. If I want to pvp ill play destiny..

Yes. You underestimate this community, friend.
  7. TheHeartbreakkid New Player

I didn't run the new SM once, and only ran the old one twice. It was boring, and I could care less about a style. ( I never change it anyway. )

It's not why I play video games, but it is the reason why I choose to run specific content in an MMO.

The rewards here are exclusive styles and awesome base items, and in theory awesome trinket pets, though no one managed to snag one this time. To allow us to create such difficult content with rewards, we strongly feel those rewards cannot impact progression.

really an awesome trinket pet????? wait what? lol

That was the response I was expecting. It's nice to play a game where skill is rewarded with comsemetic improvements whole the content used to progress offers the same reward for those of less skill as it does for those with more.

    *sarcasm obviously*

If these "elite raids" you plan on doing offer just styles and base items don't bother even wasting time making them. While yes the skilled players appreciate a challenge we also don't appreciate being given cosmetic items that have no effect on anything. I have a style I like and I stick to it for the most part. I also don't decorate my base at all and it's just a place I pick up mods and hang out cause the watchtower is full of cluter(people). So what does SM offer me as a reward? What good are cosemetic items to people that don't use that stuff? I also still found the mechanics of SM to be completely unimaginative. The game is losing me and wit my life picking up and I'm traveling more for work, when I sit down to play I don't want to waste my time on uninspired mechanics and easy content. I like to be challenged and rewarded for completing that challenge. DCUO, for me, is not delivering atm. This DLC had been one of my favorites visually but so far nothing has gained my attention and money in my wallet more than the original Origin Crisis raids.

Are you new to this community? :) C'mon you and I both know there would be endless crying. There would be crying about it being too hard. There would be crying about how leagues are at an advantage. There would be crying about elitism. You're right half a skill point isn't setting the world on fire but look how many people whine about the Back From The Hack feat. C'mon Green, you should know better.

The sarcasm is definitely appreciated. It helps us all have a constructive discussion.

That said, we *actually* do appreciate the feedback and understand where you're coming from. The issue of difficulty overall in the game is a complicated one because everyone's ideal difficulty level is different We are looking to address that potentially and in part with elite raids. Stay tuned for details. That issue is fundamentally separate from Survival Mode.

Survival Mode is a special, time-limited event unlike anything else in the game, separate from anything else in the game, that works wholly differently with a wholly different intent. It's difficulty spirals up until eventually literally everyone loses. It's intent is to measure your skill, not advance it. It is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, and it's not intended as a stand in or solution for resolving the wide range of difficulty desires found across the community.

Wish I could like this comeback alone, just to emphasize how easily the community destroys its own point of view...

There's another reason for this and it might not be that obvious, but I bet there are also issues with balancing difficulties for a CR111/70 SP and a CR111/190SP. Adds and bosses can only hit so hard or do so much to accommodate for all players. This sort of defeats the purpose of balancing difficulty for everyone. But this is completely off-topic, just came to mind when I read this...

Please keep it that way, Thank you.

I was here after the OC release and the out cry for nerfs to Paradox Wave,
and the devs response was "Never again this difficult",
I was on of the many that said "We just want a challenge, it doesn't need to reward you with progression",
and i'll stick to it, I like the styles, maybe more base items drop, auras cosmetic items,
As soon they put any tiny bit of stat progression in there, people will want it nerfed,
and they will have to nerf it, did you forget what happened to paradox wave?
at some point it was a joke, bosses were dying in less than a min and that was before WM,
because they nerfed it to the ground, and then later buffed it again.

No thanks, I like SM the way it is, I play when I have time and energy, and have fun,
if I don't have time or energy oh well, not missing much but a style and base items I can get
from the broker if I want to.

Agree with no sp on these. Seasonals like Larfleeze / Klarion etc are able to be done by all players and therefore their limited time nature does not work against players. Adding sp to SM would work against any non top tier player / toon.

If you are letting the best players collect rewards that aid progression, you create a vicious circle.

Those players are already 'better' than others in 'regular' gear. If they got an advantage from beating content only they can beat, the next content that is released to the 'general population' will be too easy for them.

This would mean the next SM has to be even harder and subsequently providing better benefits, which will render 'general population' content even less attractive as the rift grows bigger.

This way, the devs would effectively have to provide two games tailored to different playerbases, OR drop one of the two and develop for only one group.

So, I would think that SM with cosmetic rewards would be the way to go when you want to give both parties a fair share.

I'm glad there are no fears tied to this. It's a complete bore fest imo. The shirts you get in there should read "I GOT TO ROUND -- IN SM AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY TSHIRT" :D
