  1. Twilight Man New Player

Update: The league I created has been disbanded, I am back to solo status and somewhat on the lookout for a new league home.
  2. TrueMarvel New Player

Did you kick him like a advised prior to the leagues disbandment
  3. Solarstar New Player

Why would someone ask if they should skip content just to have the gear?

That's idiotic and it will only hurt that player down the road.
  4. PrimedKrypton New Player

ran with a troll yesterday for a couple hours.. He was cool so I invited him to my league. Today we get on run all fos's and gates. Main troll left so he said he will solo. Was like ok lets go in. After the first boss he sent me a tell & was asking me what pot means. I didn't tell the rest or they would kick him out the raid & league. Felt bad so I broke it down to him. Later he told me he skipped right to t3 & went to t4. I talked to him and helped him go back and do all content. Now he's a beast thanks to me =]

ITT: People do not know how MMO's generally work

Sadly this is more the norm. It seems every game I play the first thing you hear from new players is "what's the max level" followed by "how do I level fast" then of course here at DCUO there's always the "is 30 still the max level". In and out of games the concept of enjoying things seems lost, which again is just sad. There is more that could be said about how hollow of an accomplishment their high tier gear, they got in this manner, is but why waste the digital ink.
  7. Instrumenta New Player

I used this strategy for all my alts.
Day 1-2: Grind from 0 CR to 30 CR (gather exos as much as you can, usually i gather about 50-60 stacks)
Day 2-3: sell the exo stacks but leave some for mod 1. Then buy CR52-CR64 armor at auction house. You should hit CR 55 with a fully mod 4 prom box rings. Then Grind T3 duos/challenge and if you have a good league, ask them to carry you on FOS raids. Replay badges is key here, earn as much MOTs to buy you Central City CR62 stuffs. Then mod it for you to hit CR70.
Day 4: Grind T4 alerts (waywards), to get the CR 72 armors. Once again replay badges are key in here. Gather exos for modding your CR 72 armors to Mod 3. And join T4 raids to earn more good cr73-76 armors. You should hit CR80 by now.
Day 5: Grind for skill points because your now better geared for the T1/T2/T3 contents :p .

So what DLC you need ? Battle for Earth, Lightning DLC, Hands of Fate DLC. And of course, lots of replay badges ;)

WHY DO YOU NEED TO LEARN WHEN YOU HAVE DCUO FORUMS TO SPOONFEED YOU?

Well then, I guess I'm an old school gamer since I actually ENJOY leveling, hearing my mentor speak, and completing each mission. I don't switch to a new power because the one I'm in got "nerfed" and I don't care if you got fully geared first. This is a sad day. As my first MMO, this game is special and after reading what that new guy told Twilight Man.....damn.....damn indeed. :-(

They don't care about fixing their game is what it looks like, only adding more content A LOT of the time rehashed.

I just moved cash from my main to my alt, lvl 0-30 in one day. That same day i bought lvl 50+ gear from auction house, modded it, got to a 60+ cr bought some gear from central city modded it, then went into games with an even 70cr and came out with a 74cr. ALL on the day of creating that character. That character is now my favorite alt. ( ImSoooOP )
  11. Instrumenta New Player

Wow zspirit your even hardcore than me :p i spent about 4-5 hours a day playing during the leveling.

I gotta give you props thats a nice signature.

I have this issue though where I am always 1 tier behind and can't get groups. So right now I am CR 64 and I get burnt out because I have to wait 30+ mins to get an alert group, I then get my ~400 triumphs (depending on whether or not I have weekly/daily/etc.) and then get to labor my way through challenges for 75 triumphs (if I have weekly). I guess I could do duos, which would get me close to 1k a day. I need 3k or so per an upgrade. So at best, I could get 1 piece of t3 every 2 months.

That's absolutely exhausting because most of that time is spent waiting. I can't even go semi-afk, because then when a group actually does pop, I can't accept it.

When FoS 1 is available I can do that, but I am yet to pug FoS 2 or 3 successfully (I did solo heal FoS 1 once).

TLDR: People don't do mid-tier content (1 below endgame tier) which makes grinding out those tiers extremely painful, not because you have to play the game, but because you spend most of your time online waiting for groups to do content in order to make any kind of significant progression.

I don't think it was so much the universal currency as it was the fact that you could get raid drops regardless of your CR. Fixing this helped the problem but didn't eliminate it, and it was too late anyway at that point to stop what was happening.
  15. Black House New Player

I don't blame the players who want to skip, jealousy is a natural part of the human condition it is not something that the devs can "fix" or "patch", making progression easier for new players is a good idea. It is the communitys job to teach new players how they want them to play, there are NO RULES for PUGS, tanks DO NOT HAVE TO PULL, Trolls DO NOT HAVE TO SET POT, etc player are free to enjoy the content anyway they want to, are these things desired by the community? of course, they are THE BEST WAY to complete the content, but they are not the ONLY way. Each one, teach one.

    Furthermore,

If you recruit players you have not got to know it is your OWN fault if they do not meet your expectations. A league is only as strong as its leader as the OP has clearly shown.
  16. Kristyana Loyal Player

Good luck clearing appropriate content with a tank that doesn't pull or clearing any content with a troller who doesn't PoT.

How you do these things is up for debate, but not doing them is not an option in group play.
  17. Black House New Player

I think you misunderstand me, I don't PUG, because I want and expect things to be done in a certain way, in a PUG you have NO RIGHT to tell others what to do, it is possible to finish most content WITHOUT strong group play but it is harder and more frustrating, the community has worked out the optimum way to work as a group but these are not game rules they are community standards, but for those standards to hold, one has to first be part of the community.
Not doing the optimal community chosen methods of play IS an option when you PUG that after all is why one PUGS. isn't it?
  18. Kristyana Loyal Player

I'm not talking about optimal methods or community chosen methods, I'm talking about the way the game is designed, that's why I stated how you get the goals done is up for debate.

At the appropriate level, you need a tank to hold aggro on bosses or you wipe repeatedly. You need a healer to heal or you wipe repeatedly. You need a DPS to kill things or you wipe repeatedly. You need a troller to feed power or you wipe repeatedly.

I don't care how goals get done as there are many ways in each powerset to reach those goals. I don't care if a healer uses single target heals or HoTs as long as there's healing. I don't care what power a troller uses for PoT or even if it falls off from time to time as long as I'm getting some sort of power. I don't care if the tank doesn't juggle or cleanse, as long as he at least tries to hold aggro.

If someone doesn't know how to do these things I'm more than happy to teach them different ways to do it instead of saying "you have to do it this way," but if a player simply refuses to perform any of the responsibilities in an alert or raid that their role has, then they shouldn't have queued up for that role in the first place.

As more content is released within an MMO. The more likely you'll have players, be it new, or working on alts, skipping over content to hit or come close to the highest cr threshold possible... only to come back to older content to knock out any feats faster and easier so their skill points match or exceed their cr.

Its pretty much a bi-product of these games.

If you q into a PUG you can have NO expectation that those things are going to happen you can ask but the other players are well within their rights to say no, remember they never invited you and you didn't invite them it is just a happy accident, if we want players to play in a fashion we recognise we MUST teach them. However to be taught one must first be prepared to learn, this is why I don't PUG and I never will.
