So i grabbed 6 new players 2months ago and ive bern guiding them. I told grind skill points they did till they hit 200-250 they ssid panther now our artifacts are 160 with 200sp sorcery/munitions we dont need sp anymore thats enough and their damage reflects that its true skill points are worthless now smh 6yr grind fir nothing Artifact swap beats skill points now tenfold and they’re playing support roles well to devs might aswell remove sp remove stats remove soder buffs it does nothing extra if the ppl playing for years have no edge over the newer players we look like idiots advising to grind the game is this what they intended if so i dont understand how that makes sense. Dont get me wrong i understand why some what of clamp is needed but all clamped evenly is crazy ppl with high sp should get some slight edge over new players

SP have not been very important since Origin Crisis at least.

People have been blindly saying SP are important without ever thinking it through.
A people who grinded and grinded for SP expect everyone else to do the same.... without thinking it through... and thinking how the value of SP went down as time goes by.

Wayyyyy back when when we first got SP.... SP could represent 30% of your Stats.

    But....

    As Exobit Mods were added...
    as Generator Mods were added....
SP represented.... maybe 10% of our stats??

And with Origin Crisis.... the Devs made OC the hardest content we ever had to please the Elite players....
but they had to give HUBER High Stats to the gear to make up for the UBER difficulty.

    And then Artifacts were added...
    Allies were added.....

    So.....
With Gear.... Generator Mods.... Artifacts.... Allies.... and More....
SP represent.... 3% of the Stats?? (Been a long time since I did the Math.. could be more... could be less. )

But sadly people have been blindly telling new players to grind for SP because that is what they did without relly thinking it through.

And your 6 years grind for nothing??
    For Skill Points... pretty much.....

But there is Skill Points..... but there is also actual Skills.

You have been playing for 6 years....
you should have gained actual Skills after playing for 6 years.

Your actual Skills from 6 years of playing should give you the edge..... not SP.

    Hope this makes sense. ;)

Well, to be fair, people also are kind-of indirectly telling them to gain gameplay experience through the grinding process of said SP. It's just an easier way of telling them to "git gud", except not. More like "do this to learn and get better/learn the game in the process", if that makes sense heh.

The problem with that is that it leads people to think that

    High SP = Good Player
    Low SP = Bad Player

And we had proof in the past that....
not true.... not true at all.

When we had the First PvP Season and everyone started with cash gear....
Was pretty easy to defeat some players even if they had High SP.

Also when we first had Wavedox.... we could see how many SP people had.

So in a mission when we saw a bad player in game..... we could check Wavedox and see that... often they had High SP.
When we saw some great players in the game... we could check their SP and see that they had 50 SP.

For a short while when we got Wavedox.....
people stopped saying High SP = Good Player.... for a while.

Sadly at some point.... some sort of reset happened in the playerbase.... and we were back with people saying....
    High SP = Good Player
    Low SP = Bad Player

And sadly.... that is not even close to being true.

For all we know someone with High SP was carried by his League and is a terrible player.

So telling people to grind for SP so that they can gain actual Skills playing the game?? not really a good idea.
There has to be a better way to tell people to G3t Go0d... other then telling them to grind for SP.

Have people tried taking off all points and just putting them in weapon tree and not put any skill points into role stats for damage and heal crits, restoration, might, precision, and try running content without any points put into stats and only using artifacts?

I don't know, maybe devs can revamp the feats points in classic game feats and first few episodes feats, to replace all the 10 points to 25 points, for new players to more quicky get to 200 skill points.
The devs hasn't retired PvP feats and haven't given a PvP cr gear skip to get most feats and cr gear to purchase.
Maybe bump up 10 points to 25 in PvP feats, even though no one plays PvP and remove the sync ques filter to friends can help with feats for skill points.

Ways to revamp most old feats of 10 points to 25 to help new players get to 200sp more quickly.

All count feats, do this 10, 25, 50, 100 and so on can be account bound.
Replace oldest episodes and classic game feat unlocks with Fate Tokens.

This is of skill points matters for new players.
I get it, stop at 10% and move on to another stat.

If players really want a bigger challenge in elite alerts and raids and duos and solos.
Maybe devs can add another row at the bottom for elite skill points that adds better numbers and maybe better stats.

They unlock at elite episodes renouns. And points can be capped at 5 or 10.
And next episode the cap increases and unlock at the next episode elite renoun

Something to add to skill points.

    Really?
Back then skill points was the flavor.

Correct, ain't gonna deny any of that. Just saying that high SP has sadly become a signifier of "good" simply because it shows progress and/or hard work. Or at least shows an effort. That's coming from someone with high SP that carries his DPS (and high health in PvP) lol.

Before we got Exobit Mods.... and later Generator Mods.... League Hall Bonuses.... Artifacts....

All our Stats wayyyy back when came from our gear.
And the stats of our gear was not that high.

So getting SP back then could give you 30% of your Stats???.... depending how many SP you had... of course.

But then we got Exobit Mods.... so the importance of SP went down as Mods would give us Stats.

And then with Origin Crisis.... the T5 Gear got a HUGE upgrade in Stats.

And it all went downhill from there.

As time went buy.... as more stats were added to the game with Generator Mods... Artifacts.... and more.....
The value of SP went down and down and down.

Overall I definitely can't say I didn't wish SP mattered more lol. It already substantially helps with Buff Trolling (that's a given), and also considering my high SP helps me "keep up" with mediocre DPS, what's the harm in more? XD

The only flaw I can see is balance issues to those thay are "already" good. For example (but not limited to at all) my PvP. High SP allows for a lot more HP and that in turn has an impact that allows me to win 99% of all duels (I rarely lose unless the opponent is a "good" mental player spamming that dang reflect or Clarion/fang meta cheese). I'm not even a "real" PvPer, seeing as I don't use counters at all (never learned). I'm left to believe that it's my SP carrying me. Or at least a good loadout and/or the fact I'm Gadgets Might lol

Ahh, you're talking about the stat effect of skill points not skill points as a feature. It confused me because skill points are a core system and have always been here, but first overhauled around game update 73 I think.

I get what you're referring to now.

You can definitely feel the difference with more SP. But anywhere from like 120 to ~450 SP now is not very noticeable in a single stat, because SP scales exponentially. The actual stat value will slightly more than double for every 50 points you put into it. Also, with higher SP you can get the 10% bonuses on secondary stats, which help a lot. For example, the extra Power is very noticeable. Not to mention you probably need >600 SP to be a good battle support, which is unnecessary in many groups but will hard carry noobs (Omnibus).

The only reason people say SP doesn''t matter is because for new players, you can get a lot of immediate benefit from buying artifacts. You have to invest a lot of time to get SP, and you won't notice the difference as much, compared to having artifacts. You can if course clear any content in the game with only 200 SP, just like you can clear any content with 120 arts. But anyone with more SP will be more effective overall than someone with less SP, other things being equal.

People say grind SP because it's something you can actively do to progress. Nth Metal is time/wallet-based, but SP you have to proactively do feats. Of course you can also get better DPS by practicing on a sparring target and testing loadouts, but most people don't care about putting that effort in because it's even less noticeable progression than SP. And the best way to get better at mechanics is running harder content and doing feats, so naturally you get SP.

Did run with 0 SP a few times.

Heck I have a whole series of videos fighting the EEViLLL Red Death where I remove all SP. ;)

My biggest issue with SP has always been that it is dependent on completing feats, which the majority of those are achieved via a group effort, not by my own abilities. All it takes is 1 person to ruin a feat run. I try to only run with my friends & league mates but even still, after X number of times of unsuccessfully achieving a group related feat just makes me explode! I know it is accidental on the other party’s part, but it just really, really makes me not want to bother with the trouble of working on a group feat anymore.

Then maybe it is time devs can retire old content and old episodes feats from replay badges to fate tokens to unlock on other characters, because it seems they don't matter and why spend money on replay badges to unlock on other characters, in speaking based on majority of player base and in proving that they don't matter after getting higher gear and artifacts.
Revamping older feats from 10 points to 25 may help benefit newer players in early stats for strength when in lower gear tho highest gear can be easily obtained through source marks and Catwoman and Tempus.
It may benefit newer players while leveling up Artifacts. Revamp old feats to help them to get 200 skill points quicker.

Increasing augments stats is same as skill points.

I thought maybe they don't matter on stats points increase from their little value but matters in crits value.

I have been saying ever since before the pandemics that SP don't matter.

Thanks for finally admitting that I am right. This makes me feel happy.

Forgot to mention the Augments. ;)

As for the Crits it takes 60 SP to get the Crits.....
30 SP if you are a Controller.

For Tanks it's a bit touchy.

Tank is the role where SP is more important.

You want Dom... you want Health..... if you play Fire you also want Resto.
So Tank is the one role where I would say SP is a bit important. ;)
