Seasonal event slackers

I am getting really tired of queueing up the seasonal event and then having group members who don't help.
Shouldn't it be that if you don't participate that you don't get credit?

Some players farm seasonal alerts - as well as other group content - with multiple accounts at the same time. I've done this myself, although not lately, because I've been too lazy to launch DCUO on my laptop just for the few seasonal marks, especially that I'm usually watching something on it, while playing on my PS. It speeds up the queue and seasonal alerts usually take less than a minute anyway, even for a solo player.

I imagine it can be frustrating if the group is struggling with the instance, but I've yet to experience such a situation and I don't even notice idle players until the scorecard comes up and someone has 0's next to their name. Personally - even though I can easily and quickly complete this type of content by myself - if I'm queuing with 2 accounts, I'll get the second toon into the fight and drop an orbital and an ally, just so nobody feels they're being taken advantage of.

All of this. I came here to say the same exact thing. Except I gotta use two Xbox's XD
Helps queue (sometimes even the seasonal queue takes forever) and gets coins for main. Win/win.
The alt is usually very crappy so I will also drop orbital and then focus dpsing with main, it does enough damage for both characters anyway..

It's okay I've already called the manager.

We've been complaining about this for over a decade. They won't do anything about it.

With everyone tending to rush through the seasonal instances as quickly as they can (which can make getting the Full Net feat during Summer challenging, to say the least LOL), what can they realistically do? By the time the system could register someone not participating in the instance it could very well be done with already.

The tools exist in PvP arenas. If you're standing outside for 30 seconds you get booted. If you don't reach the minimum damage threshold you don't get rewarded.

Brilliant idea. So if a couple of OP DPS smash the boss before a level 20 tank gets a shot in - the low-level player is screwed out of the rewards? Yeah, that seems fair. And if the "damage threshold" is low enough to accommodate even the least powerful toons, it will be easily reached by anyone who runs into the arena, drops and orbital, then remains idle for the remaining 30s of the fight...

Get over it. It's only a laughably easy event instance. If you're somehow struggling to complete it, you have plenty of time to votekick the idle player.

Obviously they would scale the threshold down to make it fair but that's a fake scenario. If that threatens your scrub farm oh well.

They could at least get the turrets. Lol

Put effort into detecting or preventing hacking? Too much work.
Put effort into deterring it preventing idling? Too much work.
Dealing with chat spam bots? Too much work.
Doing anything at all to fix in-game community issues? Too much work, and we might lose paying customers! :-O

It used to annoy me too, but I really stopped caring years ago. Too much energy spent on my part getting angry over nothing.
If it bothers you that much, get a group instead of blind q? When I blind q anything, I've come to expect 1-7 monkeys capable of somehow mashing buttons enough to queue up. More often than not, I'm pleasantly surprised they're capable of a bit more :)

Oh, yes - I feel very threatened, indeed. You've been whining about it for 10 years, I'm sure the clampdown on this "scourge" is coming any day now... :D Obviously it's important that you save your votekicks for... something.
  15. Red Wáve Well-Known Player

A vote to kick can't be started the first 5mins after the person you want to kick is in the Instance.

Oh, right... Never crossed my mind to kick someone that early, especially from an instance that takes 1min, even with 3 players doing nothing, so I forgot that votekick delay was a thing. In that case, instead of some convoluted scaling system for detecting who's pulling their weight, wouldn't it be simpler to lower kicking restriction time for seasonals? I mean - if it's truly such a huge problem requiring development time?

Some of these are likely linked to the gold selling supply chain. If you run seasonal alerts enough, you'll notice a large population of the AFKers have some random characters name and pick the first choice of the inspired by options in character creation (Batman inspired, medium, female, etc.). These are probably bot/macro created/controlled.

So... free seasonal alert (probably multiple windows) -> use currency to buy rewards -> sell rewards -> use cash to poll & sell OR sell account with starter cash.

But I have also come across individual players with the same name + serial number. They are likely following the same scheme as above and feeding some main account. It's been a problem for years now, really picking up steam with the very first Anniversary event, which I consider the birthplace of AFK farming.

I always thought something like this should be implemented in this area of the game, as asking people to stop playing and wipe and then ask the other person to play became far too cumbersome. Lol after a number of years of this, however, I tend to just follow the school of fish. Sometimes it used to be impossible when the seasonals were a lot more difficult. Now that there are a lot easier people will just stand there and I will just do my "job".

    Two of my favorite responses that I can remember distinctly when I asked people to play were;

    1.go back to your marketplace!
    2.scrim me bro!

The second one I liked the best because it seemed like that was a lot more effort than actually just picking up their controller and just playing...

if it annoys me too much, and thankfully the last 2 seasonals spring and this i havent had this problem where all 3 do it, i just switch accounts and leave them high n dry myself and do something on an alt for a few minutes and then return.

i dont put up with it when im not in the mood. however, if im in the mood and dont care, i will do it solo, no biggy.

It should just be 0 damage on the scorecard 0 reward, pretty simple.
