    It's sad to think that he died with still a majority of nintendo fans hating him for their e3 presentation.

    IGN has an article of tributes coming in from notable names/companies in gaming, and there was a quote from Iwata (I'm guessing) used by a couple of people that stood out, and might explain the "lost a friend" feeling.

    "On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer."
