Robot Sidekick is like a DOT that you don't have to refresh, why wouldn't you use it?

Well since Brainiac wants to take over the multiverse and he has taken over arrow fling universe and clipping universe. Maybe this one will be next.

I don't see a problem with people using RS either. If you look farther into the OP, it says that the problem I have is that RS is one of the few options I have available to my Nature toon if I want to use the WM 360 percent might crit option, since the available WM options for Nature are so limited with that type of loadout. I referenced other powersets because other powersets have been similarly limited. My question was wouldn't it make more sense (and be both functionally and aesthetically reasonable) to allow Nature players to use our Swarm to supplement our damage instead, for the reasons I outlined further into the op, instead of the only pet or pseudo pet powers available to us being a robot.

I was not unclear as to the reason why people use the robot. What I wasn't really factoring in was the fact that many players have already been using RS, but that was brought to my attention. What I am unclear about is whether or not the devs are capable rethinking powers like Swarm, especially at a time like this when Nature is getting a huge nerf to it's precision power, that are at the very least consistent with the powerset of the toon I am playing..

It's ok if you don't see the point of the thread, I have explained it already but sometimes having someone explain something does not necessarily mean that you will understand what was said. Personally, I wouldn't have seen the point cuz I wouldn't have bothered to read it it's too long heh.

Thank you for asking, I hate it because looks stupid next to my nature toon lol... I know I should have a better reason for it but it just looks dumb and doesn't fit my nature toon or resemble anything remotely close to anything nature related lol... While Swarm, on the other hand, came with the package when i started levelling that toon all the way to t6. My qualm is not with the bot, it looks decent next to some toons but it looks dumb next to the toons of mine that need it the most.

Unless they keep adding more powers to the "do not WM" list, it doesn't seem likely. I'll have to remember to use catchy titles like this in the future it really gets some ppl going lol

    Sounds like a personal problem

i agree w what he said i see the RS everywhere aswell i see more rage powers then anything but it is what it is and u can thank WM and iam sure it will b included in the future w the powers that cancel the WM crit. i like how they are forcing us to play the way they want and that has taking alot of the fun away o_O
  7. Mick Nugget New Player

Nah, but attitudes like yours unquestionably are.

This is basically along the lines of what I was saying, but I think the main thing is that they could bring a little more fun back to using the WM mechanic if they were to allow more powers to be used to supplement the damage from them. Specifically, by not limiting it to a pi, burst and nothing else otherwise it will negate the WM bonus.

Take electricity for example. How cool is the lightning storm thing that you can't even use if u want to use the WM might crit bonus... I could have a Raiden style lightning god whos stuck with no real godlike cool looking lightning storm just cuz it was put on the "no WM list".

Swarm, natures pseudo pet that doesn't even refresh with harvest and has to be constantly re summoned, can't be used. I really think they should reconsider at the very least allowing Swarm as an option for several of the good reasons that have been brought up already.
  8. Dawgnite New Player

iam electric and iam pretty upset about it aswell and the dots arnt that high i hope they really buff them to make up for that. I like putting dots up and then do WM but they say we cant do that basically lol

    So Mick Nugget...

We now arrive at my question here..... What exactly is wrong with Robot Sidekicks making a return in the game?

As far as Swarm goes, it was already asked and answered by the developers as to why it was excluded. Its an open and shut case, yet people are still beating this dead horse with threads like these.

The OP wrote his post in a position arguing the case by hero/villain themes. I simply reply to the post in question. If you want a "Gunny theme", maybe you should start with that. I look at WHAT was posted, not WHO posts it... and my comments follow accordingly.

I more than understood the underlying theme here, but if someone wants to try using underlying themes to start a thread.... nine times out of ten, their argument is already very weak, and they know it to be true - the fact this debate was very much answered by the developers says so.

Glad to see an iconic ability make it into the game for once..... even if its due to a negative side effect of WM.

just another clash between rp concerns and ocd min/max'ing. it's par for the course. should be used to it by now. that's dcuo for ya.

I actually used it on all 4 of my toons when WM 1rst arrived just to test it out and removed it 3 days later on all 4 toons. I cant stand the thing. Imo its not worth it. It does such little dmg. And it dies alot at times depending what your running.

People don't use the Robot Sidekick for the minuscule damage it puts out.

The use it for the power recharge and damage buff it puts out.

I have no issues with people using RS, I use it myself. What I have issues with is that the powersets have been so marginalized by WM that so many people have that extra loadout spot to burn on the RS.

And no, it's not quite everywhere yet. There are still a lot of people who look down on it for various reasons such as not being smart enough to understand the concept of free damage.

Agreed, using a RS as a nature user over swarm is ridiculous.

Nature has all of these stupid restrictions, it's not even funny.

Do the devs even test things out before putting up **** like this..

Lol, to be fair, they do let you put up the dots that are part of teh AM but outside of that, they have restricted basically anything else from the powerset that could supplement that damage, so we can look at it a couple of ways: a lot of players have at least one optional slot now where they can put anything but the restricted powers, but at the same time, the restricted powers are anything that could meaningfully supplement the damage lol...

RS to the rescue seems to be an increasingly popular solution since it might be viewed as a "best of the worst" options, all I'm sort of hoping for is that maybe they might reconsider giving us something better than a "best of the worst" option to choose from.

Heh, good points here, and I'll adress them in order:

To your first point, there is nothing wrong with Robot Sidekicks in and of themselves, or the fact that it is an option players have to choose from, or that some players choose that option. This should be a given and understood by all as it is a basic fact.

What is unfortunate is the fact that in order to benefit from the WM crit bonus with toons like my Nature toon, I am not able to supplement the damage with a power that comes from my powerset, instead, my options are limited to things such as Robot Sidekick, which has nothing to do with nature whatsoever, and is in fact so antithetical to anything nature centric that it just makes my specialized toon look like a walking oxymoron (and I can hear the comeback jokes from ppl already... moron jokes ok good comeback ppl lol)

To your second point, yes, it was already asked and answered. Am I not allowed to ask them to reconsider, and provide a few reasons why they might want to do so?

To your third point, Ok, sure lol.. fair enough.

To your fourth point, This would be the tenth of those nine out of ten times. I usually don't use overexagerated or buzzword titles to bring attention to a more meaningful subject but I felt like messing around a little because, quiet as its kept, none of us should be taking any of this stuff too seriously.

Finally, Your last point is my point. Doesn't bother you at all that a major reason it's coming back into the game is because of WM restrictions and that's where you and I differ, but that's not the entire reason. Having an option outside of the Iconic tree in general would be sufficient, if not specifically a power like Swarm which does the same sort of damage, requires more upkeep but maintains the integrity of the character's theme would be much more preferable. Someone even suggested being able to theme RS to match our powerset which was a brilliant idea that would also be a huge improvement/compromise/solution imo.

Lol it just looks dumb next to my Nature toon. Right now im sacrificing the extra dmg cuz I just cant roll with a robot on my nature toon, it makes my head hurt.

Lol, yes they test it, and it's good that they can see outside opinions on the little details like this that they might have overlooked or not really thought about.

Ha! this would have been a much more clever thread title.

I'm seeing it a lot too.. but it's good to see that not everyone is just yet.
  19. SkullGang Devoted Player

I'm seeing it a lot more aswell. Kinda tells you the state of powers right now when you see that many people use them...
  20. LORD_SHOCKA New Player

That's because you use all the powers from the iconic tree, like a real og
