Ridiculous crafting system.

I like the system I just am not too keen on what the apparent drop rate is. Seriously if it is luck based like loot could you please look into my account to see if it is something I am imagining or is mine wonky

I still cannot understand why you added a RNG element to the non-RNG approach to acquiring gear.

Why didn't you just have a consistent number of scraps and an appropriate scrap requirement?

Completely understand the opinion and request. What I alluded to earlier is it's not that simple. Since I think forever we have designed the game to require you to play for 6-8 weeks (before replays, without replays) to acquire a set of gear. You can choose to go faster with replays, of course, but the target hasn't changed. Based on that target of 6-8 weeks, the math comes out to the current costs, so lowering those costs means accelerating that pace and shortening the path. The question we have to consider while we look at the frustrations here is, what is best for the game?

From my understanding, it was because of the loot distribution. 8 pieces of gear, a weapon, 2 trinkets, rings, neck, mask. That's 14 pieces right there. Divide by 3 and you get uneven distribution.

I think it would be an improvement if Greens gave 2 scraps, Blues gave 10 scraps and Purples gave 25 scraps.

    Just an idea.

Really? Setting a proper cost factor is more of an issue than dealing with random?

Part of the issue here is that the main, and almost only, reward in this game is based on random.

Save random for other things. The main carrot should always have a direct way of being acquired. A way that can be planned for.

Right now, there's zero stability. Everything is up in the air.

I'm really struggling to understand the apprehension to Vendor gear being in top with gold drops herebn there as your random bit if fun.

Oh, of course. All of the variables can be adjusted. We're looking to your feedback and to the health of the game long term in considering things like that, but we're also trying to ascertain the full range of causes for the negative response. I think it is fair to say it's not any one thing.

For those that are confused about the title of this thread let me try to simply it for you.

    Socks = Gear...

For a reference point, check out this thread - Socks

We have six sets of gear currently in game.

    Common
    Uncommon
    Vendor
    Drop
    Elite
    OP

I am a firm believer that player base have not really felt awarded over the past year. Look through threads of complaints about drop rates and not getting gear. Look through the threads about players complaining about the RnD system.

The idea within this thread is to move away from the model of gearing we have come to learn.

Moving forward this is the gear we would have.

Common (drops in solos and duos only) - older style
Alert Uncommon (drops in alerts and raids) - new style
    Vendor Gear
    Elite Gear
    OP

Now how does one get elite gear you ask. Well, first you need vendor gear. Second, you upgrade vendor gear into elite with a similar system to what we have today for making gear but the cost is not as high as we all should be able to get a full set of elite gear if we play content as designed within the 12 week window.

You can buy elite plans only after beating elite content, meaning, if you did not beat the elite alert or raid, the plans are locked to you. If you buy a plan, the rest are locked out. This means for the raid gear you can get the full set within 12 weeks and the same with the alert gear. This is a fair system if you are up to the task of completing elite content.

The goal of this change is to encourage a better long term solution to progression and improve the quality of the product we all enjoy playing.

Let me touch on the later part of my last sentence, quality of the product. Right now many players feel that the game has gone into easy mode. I agree and that is a result of the best gear being dropped gear. With a change to the system the developers can increase the challenge for us as now best gear is not in content but at the vendor. This could result in elite content similar to what Throne was like when it launched, taking months for a good group to beat.

The only down side is the impact to RB.

I would recommend a change to the RB charge cost to encourage more players to use them in raids to get marks faster, increasing the cost of lower content, I know plenty of players that use RB in duos and solo, so increase the lower instance cost while decreasing the cost of raids. Cost to obtain a MoV decreases. It start off at 12 RB for a single MoV and goes down to 8 RB for a single MoV for raids, as seen below.

    For instance..

    Solo 12 RB = 1 MOV
    Duos 20 RB = 2 MOV
    Alerts 45 RB = 5 MOV
    Raids 80 RB = 10 MOV

My point exactly. How can random be easier to account for then the known. Seems very disingenuous. #BESTGEARINVENDOR

Your insinuation was that removing the random award of scraps from salvaged gear would create more problems (costs). I assumed you meant that the costs would be too great without random scraps. The solution is to reduce the costs.

If it would make the costs too low (this is almost laughable), then increase the costs.

I'd also like to suggest making Scraps account bound.

I know right...they drop drop for me either...It would be cool if I could buy them at the vendor. :)

What about the unlucky people that get minimum scraps per salvage every salvage and unlucky that don't get which pieces they need for both roles? Them sorry poor suckers. Like me for example. Weapon boxes elude me and every single time it seems i get the smallest amount of scraps on my main. He is one sorry character. Never seen a omnipotence item. After A & B when it was relevant and the gold rings were in there. I must of reset that raid 50 times or more and still haven't seen one. Actually only seen the ring drop twice and yes both times were for low level character pugs. And that day i stopped resetting raids for op gear. Just reset to catch up mostly now.

Is account bound and toon bound two different things? Seriously asking because I am not sure.
  17. Backseid Devoted Player

    The issue is rather simple.

People wanted an alternative to random. That all.

This system was supposed to address that. It did not.

The amount of runs needed to even craft the cheapest piece is well beyond its worth. Like wayyy beyond.

Also, with the heavy lean on Raids, you now have almost zero daily content. Not everyone wants to play 8man content every day, let alone multiple times a day.

So on top of the outrageous amount of materials needed, we also have the issue of where to acquire those materials.

Account bound is all characters on that account have access and Toon bound is just that bound to that character.
  19. BumblingB Guest

I suggested this when they first implimented the system. The response was that it would trivialize the reward system. Which sounded more like they thought sellable/tradeable. Now they are looking into account bound gear, so I don't see a reason why these can not be.

This statement is untrue. I never use replay badges on instances in order to get the best drop. I go to the vendor for my gear and I can easily buy the entire gear set of a 3 month cycle in a month and a half, maybe less. That left me with a lot of time to go through my alts, create 3 other premium accounts, buy my own league base, buy all the statuaries and level up 13 heroes to end content and create 13 villains. I did all that with around 2 years worth of boredom from the 3 month cycle.
Your other statements I actually agreed and stated on later posts.
