Really feeling mislead

    After seeing what's going on with the first test of stats matter I am at a loss for words. We were lead to believe more of an old school feeling of the game and supports to dps damage gap closed. Right now the power regain the direction I thought they were going was through skill points not adding a worthless power to take a load out spot away. Why wouldn't they allow us to invest inot power return with skill points that way with the promises of more load outs and the use of all powers you would still be able to do that.
    Why can't we just have it where every hit either weapon or power returns or regen some power. And through skill points just expand on that.
    The next thing is I like the devs wanting to make a need for the 2s again but no one was asking for cool downs to be extended or power interactions to be gone or shorten buffs to be removed this does not sound like or even close to the game I fell in love with and I have been playing 5 years now

    Watch. We have cooldown mods in time capsules. Oh they are increasing cooldowns, how nice of them....next up, there will be mods in time capsules granting power interactions once again. This game will never be as good as it used to be. Its run by the greediest higher ups ive ever seen. It's a joke at this point.

    The developers never outright stated that the update would bring the game to old school ways. That was the community that warped it to thinking it would be a reality. This update has changed the way the game is being played. Simple as that. Everyone should have been prepared to see the game through a different lens and relearn the game as if you were a new player once again.

    You can invest in power with more stats over time leveling up in tiers and the developers in the testing threads mentioned that you would be able to play from the tray (like you want to) as long as you specced into might and power to sustain yourself. With the little help of the troll, this should still be possible. Maybe if you run out then yeah you use your weapon sure but the power option is there if you use it. It's no any different then what is on Live with the AM Powrback in your loadout.

    But with all that being said, the cooldowns still need to be addressed with a quite a bit other tweaks and kinks. The vision/idea is there though and that's good.

    I am not happy with what I played on test and do not agree with several of the changes, I've talked about them in length within the past couple of days.

    That being the case I think feeling misled is a a stretch, the system is not what we thought it would be but that would have really just been a leap on our own.... the devs didn't state they were going back to old ways... it was also something that never crossed my mind because the way some of the things I thought would play out couldn't have been done "back in the day".

    At this point, all we can hope that when the next build goes up that it has some of the changes that will allow the community to live with the new system.

    We'll see if they take the criticism and adjust. That will be the true test, because in the last they really haven't. While I understand there is some overall vision, what we saw is not (at least for me) what I want or will pay for.

    I'm going to save my proper judgement until a couple more of these test sessions go on test so that I can see what changes the developers make based on our feedback. I just cant make my judgement of it all based on a 3 day test that they admitted even before hand this is not going to be the same as when it goes live. Best way of making this revamp work is to keep testing as and when its on test and give proper feedback that ain't rants

    The power back to me should be an innate ability and not a spot in your limited loadout that's my complaint. And the devs had said they were wanting to take us back more towards what we had before ams and yes we the community took it from there

    We are making changes based on this weekend's feedback, to the details/numbers and to some of the bigger philosophy differences. Stay tuned. That said, the goals haven't changed, so you can read up on those in the September stats revamp thread in dev discussions. If you are still feeling mislead after that, we can try to narrow down onto where and help clarify.

    We want to improve the foundation of the game, and also not make the same mistakes from previous eras over again.

    Other than PS3 support with the animation normalization/simplification, what was wrong with the PreGU36 era?
    Also, I really liked the from the tray gameplay of AMs. Yes, it didn't work with several powersets, but it did feel like I was a "super".

    Way too big a question for me to get into right now, but lack of consistency/snowflake abilities, balance problems, and ways to expand top the list.

    Pretty sure in the Pre-GU36 era,
    Cooldowns, CCs and Dots weren't an issue. Animation times, and prec/might balance was. You guys already fixed those things. Which was all you needed to do back then ironically. Sure you guys took the scenic route to fix them but now that they are fixed, the preGU36 combat is the BEST way to go forward. Trolling was an issue, but simply increasing power regen for non trolls, and tadaaa. Game update finished.

    You fixed that when you fixed animation times
    You fixed that when you made plans to make all DPS come from might(Stats matter)
    You fixed clipping as well

    Its been awhile. Or maybe I have my nostalgia glasses on, but the pre36 era did not have many inherent issues. Alot of the issue came from surface stuff, like animation times, clipping, prec/might balance, and power cost stuff, if we want to take a tally of issues, WM era and AM era created more problems than Pre36 combat ever had.

    Consistency definitely was something that does come to mind for some of the powersets. I suppose happened based on unique designs for them.

    I'm not sure balance can be achieved, unless you make exactly the same powers with all sets. But there was some outliers pregu36.

    As for expansion, I must not be seeing the scope of what was designed in the recent test weekend for #statsmatter doing much different, but I don't see the painting as you guys do. I'm just here in my paint swatch.

    Great I hope we don't get the extremely long cool downs but another issue is why are all the stuns and buffs being changed I mean I understand have a solo stun that works longer and better then the group ones but why get rid of all group stuns

    I did exactly as you recommended and re-read the initial revamp post and tbh I still feel pretty much the same way. Here's a couple of reasons why

    In test virtually ALL controller stuns are removed, PoT is taken to 6 seconds with 12 second cool down. In the initial post it says nothing about massive overhaul of a role. It does speak of team skill working with a controller for power regeneration. With what I've seen you are effectively neutering one entire class.

    Secondly in last discussions there has been questions about all powers becoming might based. In fact it was stated that was something you would entertain later on. We now see this isn't the case, in fact ineague we just had this discussion since making a full set of Olympian Precision Gen mods requires 285 marks and ma y other things. What is to happen when this goes live to the Prec based players ETS...are you going to generously replace those mods, or will we be forced to "adapt to these changes"

    I'm glad you guys did a litmus test on this run. I really am,. Because I fear and others have stated as well, that if these things go live in a form resembling what we just saw....you will have another mass exodus of players. Players like myself who have faithfully played and paid every month for almost 6 yrs. Hopefully this helps understand MY feeling of being mislead.

    We understand you on that, and we are here to give you as much feedback as possible, but let's be honest if the community express a strong wish to play the game like back to pre-GU36 (no WM, no AM) would you do it ?

    I'm not saying you should just put it back like a back up restoration. I'm saying you use it as base for the changes you want for Stats Revamp. Cuz IMO, Stats revamp on game-prev-GU 36 would make it a hell of a game. Just my thought, but I can assure you I'm not the only one.

    Right now, the feeling is, you don't want to remove completly the AMs and WMs because that would mean all the previous 2 years of work would be wiped with no legacy out of it, but you actually make them useless (No bonuses at all, so no real use).

    You say it yourself Mepps, you "want to improve the foundation of the game", AMs and WMs aren't the foundations, that also mean Power Regen, so let's remove all of that for good and let's have a clean restart. You've made a 4th role in a world of MMOs where most only have 3, so make it counts, don't through it away like that. Trollers are meant to heal power and control stuff. That was the foundation of it. Let's get back to that.

    And you also say you do not want to "make the he same mistakes from previous eras over again".

    So please, don't base your new changes on those mistakes. Right now it doesn't feel like a revamp but more like a patch/bandage on things that have bled the game out over the lastest years.

    I'm gonna say it again, the ideas of the Stats Revamp are really great for most of it, but the actual changes on test don't feel like it. :'(

    Well said. I also thought they were going back to a pre 36 type of play. I also did not see the point of the AM's and WM without the bonuses they brought. I was fine with them staying but did not see the point. It feels like they are just trying to redo everything like it is a brand new game jus tto try something different. When all they actually have to do is fix what was wrong in pre 36 and be done with it.

    thinking on dots: electro seems to have none, mentals thought bubble and even phantom flames have none...
    did dots disapeared for the powers dammage output to be on an equal level? is that why the three powers played like eachother on test?
    will you get rid of the differencies for all powers to make sure they have all the same potential, even if this means that all the powers are basicly the same except their visual effects?
    like: PI, dots, mobiles, pets, combos... all the same now to make sure they hit for the same numbers?
