Shilling is the process of advertising something even out of context just to promote a product/ subject. shill A person engaged in covert advertising. The shill attempts to spread buzz by personally endorsing the product in public forums with the pretense of sincerity, when in fact he is being paid for his services. Who are you shilling for? Ignore the n00b, he's just here to shill." -Urban dictionary. ( highly recommended not to visit this place )
I have noticed that there is alot of PS bashing on the forums, from a PC standpoint I have had great and not so great experiences with both PC and PS players as for the mic, well, that was simple I turned off my voice chat about 1 month into place because at 6 am or 10 pm I really don't want to listen to BS from either platform. Which leads me to another question, if the MAC players ever figure out they could play this game will they then become the devils Personally it takes a lot to annoy I mean relax there is always bacon.
No whining, here. Have you ever been in a room with a smoke alarm that was chirping because of a low battery? It doesn't bother you lol? Can I play through it? Sure. Did I take steps to remove the problem? You betcha. My social interactions are considerable, too - 20+ years in military allowed me to be around a lot of cool, interesting people from ALL walks of life. I miss those days.
LOL just stop...you're looking silly. you have said nothing but negative things really...i got some lotion for that butt.
R Right...... I'm sure there was no foul or racial slurs, impatience, or anything ever of the sort on PC side...it was a model of game utopia with no community issues whatsoever... Dude, come on.....in all games where there is a community things like this happen. Consider demographics here. The reason why its probably more prevalent on the PS side is because younger folks from ages 13-22 usually game on consoles rather then their PC (they too busy with social media application then games..lol) and a vast majority of them act like the immature idiots that they are.
Not to the same extent, shout chat was rarely used, now it's filled with garbage. Trade chat hasn't changed all that much. The PC side is toxic but due to the small number we could quickly weed out the unwated. I not once mentioned that PC is a heaven. Don't misinterpret what I've stated and jump to conclusions.
How original. You're not disproving my point by your claim, but you're doing an excellent job of making youself a dog to a person you've never even met. That's actually a fantastic accomplishment, disregarding how sad is is for you as a person to be doing such a thing. Good job.
I'm not jumping to conclusions at all, I'm merely going by what you said...when you make a comment as "We're not used to mic noise, severe impatience, racial slurs and overall just foul language" What does that say ?? On PC there was little to no " mic noise, severe impatience, racial slurs and overall just foul language" correct ?? Ok, my point is I'm sure you did in fact run into that as all games that are MMO have folks like this. as far as "The PC side is toxic but due to the small number we could quickly weed out the unwanted." You can do the same on PS, it take what 2-5 seconds to set someone to ignore .. Your comments Sir, make it seem that on the former PC side it was a model of Utopian behavior for a gaming community. and I was going your statements My point is, again demographics, your comparing platform where one side there is probably a vast majority of players from ages 13-22 over another and with that you are going to get much more immature behavior.
I can guarantee you I did not. Most pug raids I've done on PC pre-crossplay have been dead silent, no mic usage whatsoever. Only in tougher raids we used mic but even then they were push to talk and only giving guidance, when to block and such. Racials slurs - have not seen them before crossplay. Foul language was rare due to low population. I don't play other games so again your point is an opinion which in this case is sadly wrong. Now players jump ship faster after a few wipes, no comments or either insulting a single player. Pre-crossplay we agreed to disband not jump out one by one adn then spend another half an hour to get some role mid-raid. I know, I use my ignore function quite often. However with the massive growth we have almost 5 times the amount of players to go through, meeting and raiding with. Rarely I end up doing pug runs with the same players. Pre-crossplay seeing the same person 20 times a day was a standart. My original point was not to compare former sides but due to your interest I had to dive into it. And for the second time, PC side was not all champagne and roses. All these colors! :O
i've heard this so many times. amazed how many people just live with that. the best are the players who refuse to respond in voice but clearly have their mic on and open because you hear that sound over and over.
Stuff like this is why we try and not have PC players in our groups when we pug stuff it's just to much drama for the most part they're too thin skinned and really not worth the trouble it can bring to a raid group.
Thin skinned as in what? Can't say the same (PC player), nor me nor the players I know don't specifically weed out anyone based on their platform, get a tell, invite, a pug is a pug, the instance can go either way.
While rants are always acceptable, constructive rants, we all need to find a way to not turn these into platform based arguments. In three to four months (if not sooner, I have no clue when folks for Xbox will be arriving) will have the Xbox community added here and we all really should be playing nice so as to not chase people off. That being said OP, your points are valid and you've been running into a lot of bad luck.. and while I don't doubt your experiences I know enough people on the PS side that it isn't an issue with all of them. However, the PS side did have the larger population, it's easier to find bad apples in larger circumstances. This is the same reason why you find less polite heroes than less polite villains because again the hero side has the larger population.
I'm both a PS and a PC player, and I've met good and bad on both platforms. I was looking forward to crossplay so I could play with my PC friends on PS3, but so far I've seen nothing but negativity.
If you had left any mention of platform out of your post, your post may have been better received. Raid etiquette is a thing and it is at an all time low in the community as a whole right now. There is a segment of the community at large where it is a very jarring change as it is something we are having our first taste of in such large and toxic doses. I thumbs-upped your post in spite of that mistake, though. I do believe the community needs to take responsibility for its behavior and start trying to stamp out this ******** before it does any permanent damage. I really like you but you are focusing way too much on his inappropriate use of PS in his post and overlooking the message. Raid etiquette and the general use of courtesy in the game now is so rare as to be virtually nonexistent. Forget the blatant "platform baiting" crap and address the issues as if he did not screw up and create yet another war.
Here's your main problem, OP: Sometime ago the game stopped catering to MMO players and started catering to the console hack and slash / FPS crowd. As such, the culture from said community has leached into this space and has influenced the direction of the game because SOE/DBG realized that was the more profitable path for them. It sounds like you play most of your games on the PC, which is great, but having a system of that type acts a barrier to entry to the console riffraff. In essence, it insulates you from the debauchery and anti-social behavior you are recounting. Unfortunately, DBG does almost nothing to try to curb or moderate that kind of poor behavior because they either don't care or fear the backlash from the community. Learn to use the ignore feature because it's not going to get any better.
Yea.... no. I don't think us glorious PC whiners ever had this level of bad manners. If I wanted to hear those terribly annoying sounds while I do my bussiness, I would go to the nearest street market, not in my quiet room.
