Quo Vadis DCUO?

I want to openly express and talk to the developers and rest of the players, and anyone who wants to read me in this post.

I have been playing DC Universe Online since 2011. It is undoubtedly the videogame of my life, for the amount of years invested to entertain me and meet new people around the world. A unique and special experience. Both on the EU server and on the US server.

But we have been puzzled about the game for a while. We know there is an established plan of continuity but what is the real direction? I mean, the game has been active for more than 13 years. Is there any intention to continue or is it better to close the game in a while, after its cycle is over? Maybe it seems an inopportune question, but I think that the players mainly deserve honesty and to tell us clearly what path they want to do with this game.

I understand that there are many angry about the new Episode currency in the Marketplace, myself included, and it is also logical that developers look for ways to pay to finance the game itself. Here no one forces you to pay, in DCUO you can play for free, but also say that DCUO is not created for free.

If in time the videogame would close, it would be a great pity for the great majority. I think it is a very good community and forged for so many years. But I am a big fan of DC Comics and if the game were to close, I would also be very sorry because DC is a multiverse of possibilities. The developers know they have an excellent franchise and perhaps the best superhero mmo to date and that should be leveraged and exploited. DC has a lot to show and this game is the best showcase.
That is why I believe that for everyone's sake, this video game can continue to be active for another years more.
There are many types of players with many reasons to keep playing.

By the way, it is a very good thing to create the DCUO Creators League and it should be listened to. Players can also bring help and ideas to the video game. That should be taken advantage of by the developers and bosses, as together we would be something great and cool for our community.
In conclusion, if DCUO is going to close, please tell us. If the developers need more time, please tell us. If suggestions are requiered, let us know.

I think we deserve to be treated like adult people and if anything happens, we would like to know. Since with honesty, we all win. So I ask myself, where are you going DCUO?

Thanks so much for reading me.

i thought they already admitted in a financial video that this games revenue is not something they can count on/stable, so if they really think that, i wouldnt say a word either and just enjoy the money that is coming in.

if they really believe the game is a house of cards, silence is prob the only way forwards.

They fell in love with Covid era revenue. And that is what they still want and will drum up any cash grab / revenue stream to get it. I think they (mostly EG7) that all games are the same and see them mobile games revenues and want to tap that stream.

DCUO, the game itself, was stable enough pre EG7. DCUO is stable enough under EG7s' tenure as also evidenced to appropriating funds to other games under the EG7 game umbrella. How much DCUO revenue was shelled over to the failed Marvel game that was canceled?...
Imagine where this game would be if the money to support those other games was used on DCUO. Well at least we can still imagine and hope, right?

If they want a better feel of revenue stability take DCUO as soon as it hit free to play status. Used to be where you had to buy the game just the game or collectors edition and actually sub up to "better / properly" enjoy. Maybe better off to start from the first time capsule onward to 2020 to half of 2022. Then take the second half of 2022 to now... Its fine. If you put stock in the numbers Budokan posts... they are doing great with what they are doing on an old U3 engine. Even the numbers relayed on the reports we see from EG7 they doing well.

They have several other things to monetize that may or many not piss off the the rest of the player base. And I'm sure they will get to them in the near future.

This is what, can and does happen when a game studio sells off itself to a Corporate / Investment firm. If they drop the avarice attitude and be reasonable, sensible with a lure and an attraction to lead them to better retention... the revenue and profitabilty will take care of itself.

Also once EG7 said they will not invest back in this game and give the devs just enough allowance to keep the game running on minimum effort and mediocrity (so far and still). To, me, its still sub worthy. All else from here on out... we'll see.
