Heya, so I've ended up settling with a Mental dude and I was wanting to ask your opinion on something. Do you think that Mental could pass as a sort of mix of Alteration and Illusion magic? I ask because I'm trying to come up with a justification for my super speed, mental, magic hero and my idea is that he's a mage that is a master over Alteration and Illusion magic and casts a super speed spell when he travels. Also still trying to get his look down as I level up. I know though the outfit I want (the glowing runes that hover over clothing) isn't available until 30 as it's the newest set, but in the mean time I'm using the Arcane style, but still debating on Hand Blaster. Thinking of the Spellbound dlc set, but with my tv, it's kinda hard to see what they really look like and can't tell if they'd be a good look with my purple/black themed outfit. Also I know I want a purple aura to represent him exuding magical energy, though I guess that'll come with time as I finally start to get Promethium Lockboxes. Anyway, sorry, I ended up babbling. >.< TL : DR - Is Alteration/Illusion magic a good rp explanation for a Magic Hero with Mental Power?
Mages uses Sourcery or spells if you will and Mental ppl use their brains to manipulate certain things..... picture professor x wearing a mages costume .... or Doctor Fate in a business suit.... but honestly it doesn't matter it might catch on ...
Well my issue is that Sorcery feels more like I'm playing a Hexing type of character rather than a more traditional magic user. Mental felt more similar to the spells used in Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and Skryim in the Alteration and Illusion trees which is where the idea comes from. I dunno, just trying to figure out a way to get mental to work while labeled as a Magic Hero since Sorcery is the only blatantly obvious "hey this is magic" power while the rest (except gadget) end up feeling like Meta which overall feels like the game is one sided in that regard. ... I think I'm starting to over think these powers lol. >.>
dude...mental can be magic based. if we go back and read about magic, past and present, the force that increases one magical ability comes from the mind, or rather their force of will/intent, for the intended purposes. yes, their are "ingredients"(sorry, know their is a proper term but could not think of it), but the effectiveness comes the persons mind.
Lol, thanks. Just trying to keep as close as I can to the DC lore without fudging things up and inadvertently having a character that would go against the entire DC verse. Granted I'd never actually roleplay, but it's nice to have a theme and idea to my character so that I have a template to stick to and don't end up with some messed up random dude who would make about as much sense as a platapus. Also Ausaren, the word I think you are looking for is spell reagents, but they can also be referred to as spell components or spell ingredients. Heck you could tack on spell to junk and it would still be correct, lol. Though as far as magic, I know every game series tends to have their own origin to magic so I was just wanting to make sure I wasn't crossing any lines by treating mental as a magic oriented power.
Im a mental and I think its cool sometimes I dont know which loadouts to use Lol but im not really bothered about my powers abilities etc. I just play the game although I still dont know a few things.
