PvP weight class - Why you no have it?

Is the Game's goal seriously to have T1 players, enter into a PVP arena and fight T4 Players? Are you serious?

People complain, and rightfully so, in a PVP phase when a level 30 beats down a bunch of much lower levels, so how the frack is this any different?

Is the plan to lose over and over and Over and OVER until you build up the other marks, one at a time, just so you can finally attempt to actually win with slightly higher armor? To hope that the poor schmo is new to this and also has T1 armor? Is that really the plan of action here?
Did anyone consider that mearly having a weight class, a Toughness, or some stat restriction with in reason that more people would PVP?
I last 10 -11 seconds and thats with 5 seconds in flying time to get there. Do the math.
I'd rather fight a flipping Mob of Mandrakes, Mag, and Jokernoids that step into the PVP arena any more.

While I agree with the disparity between T1 gear and T4 gear being great, you can gear up to t3 by doing legends, or try grouping with geared players to support you in arena matches.

A weight class would make it a great deal easier for lower geared players to earn pvp marks faster and rise through the ranks to the top, so +1 on that, ...no vote system... good idea...
  3. Midnight Strike New Player

Well, you can put in the time to build your gear up like those players did...

or you can do Legends, where the playing field is level, to earn marks and get better gear for arenas.

Also, there is a separate section for PVP on the forums
  4. Zizzi New Player

They did say they were looking to even out the PvP playing field in one of the webcasts. Possibly adding some sort of PvP CR or Tiers?
  5. Mini Lini Loyal Player

    Hopefully Zizzi.

The problem isn't getting to T3 guys. The problem is getting to T4. Yes you can do Legends and get marks for losing in Arenas. You NEED to win though to get T4 marks. Which is near impossible with the gear gaps, mods, and Premades.
  6. Dia New Player

I think I see what the OP is saying. They (along with many others) want ranking for PVP. So you then you could be "paired" with a somewhat balanced team. Come on, win or lose, both sides love a close match. Have you ever thought, “Man my heart was really pumping during that blowout!”

Exactly.. this is how PvP used to be, it often came down to a few kills, PUGs had a chance against Premades.... It was fun. I didnt see them say any balancing for PvP. Really hope so though.

And many don't want rankings as well.Been argued both ways for a long time. Only the devs will ever be able to find out which side is the majority in this matter, not any level of player on any community website or forums can fully gather the proper data needed to find this out.

So, you are saying the players that already put in all that time and effort should be made to feel like they wasted their time so that those who have not can get the same thing quicker than they did? It may not be what you mean, but is essentially what happens in these situations.
  9. Captain Spire New Player

You mean to tell me Midnight that the players who actually put in the hard, long hours day in and day out should be content to smash Hapless newcommer T1 players with their shiny new T4 equiptment? Oh course, makes perfect sense!

That's completely stupid of me to want a level playing field. I mean the very thought of a group of T4's having to fight...*Gasp* another evenly matched paired of T4 players is inconceivable! Nay, Insanity! Banish this lost soul into the eternal darkenss of blight and allow him to suffer the endless torment of that purple dinosaur for eternity for the very notion of *gasps* a fair fight?!

Seriously Midnight Strike? With all the hard work they put into the game, I'm sure the T4's are going to have to shunt their nerd rage else where. I suggest burning ants with a magnifying glass. If you disagree with me, spend a month taking a red-headded step child beating personally, from my lowly T1 character, with some level 20 character of yours and play in the PVP phase. And to drive my point across, I'll round up a good team of T4s and drive that hard earned word called "perspective" into your rage filled keyboard/control stick.

Even as much as I get beat down in the PvP phase, I don't seek and destroy the nearest level 20 players who aren't even ready for PvP at my level. You're essentially cutting off the PvP raids/arena for anyone who doesnt have T3-T4 equiptment. Because no one wants to die 12 times, contribute little or nothing to a match and to put insult to injury, get one Mark.

Oddly enough, I'd rather get 1 mark from a battle I JUST lost in a PvP match only to get 5 marks the next match because I didnt have to pray to the PvP gods that by complete chance, a T4 is on my group and the poor schmos Im against are both T1's. If we have T1, T1-T2, T2-T3, and T3-T4 arenas/raids then it gives the players a fraking chance to learn, slowly, CALMLY, without some festering mold as yourself telling them how its fair for the T4 players to pound them into oblivion.

When T1, T2...T4 came out, we (the players who are longer in the game), had the same or very similar gear/equpiment, so it was much easier to get the marks. Now new players come in and have the most time full-t4-fullmodded enemies with thousands of consumabls/pets etc. its is just unfair!

And its not an excuse, that they could do Legend-Arena to earn marks for T3. Why they shouldn't be able to earn t3 and t4 marks at the same time? Also although T3-PVP is a good base (T2 is a good base too), it is still a big difference to full-t4-full-t4-modded.

No need to be sarcastic about it, you post on a public forum, you will get all sorts of replies. And that's not what he was saying. It seems you have a readymade answer to anyone that may offer a counter opinion to your OP, my post won't be any different.

Most pvpers don't want to rofl stomp pugs, they have been saying it for years, even demanding to never face pugs and under geared noooobs and to beat on players who are too lazy to form premades = hence a lobby system. We don't want to beat people in 2 seconds all the time, some might and get their jollies from it, but they never hang around for long.
T3 and T4 gear was added into the game at the same time - stop forgetting this little bit of detail - everyone does. T3 isn't far off T4, if you don't think so, you haven't pvpd enough, it's more than enough to use to earn t4. Replay badges.....the game is free to play..... they have to make cash and since t2 was the highest pvp gear for a long time no one complained about this perceived gear disparity. In short, ALL of the players who have t4 paid for it, and got beaten down hard for it.. you aren't any different. Besides the cost of t1 was absurdly high and took a long time to earn 1 piece for free as you had to face players who beat you on skill.

But yeah good luck and no disrespect intended, I understand your fustration, of course, its like..my opinion man about the situation, not about your personal issue.

It sounds like you want your gear for next to nothing or rather in a much much easier environment.. I would be a tad annoyed if I could earn t4 without facing a single person in t4..what's the point. Yes the t3 gear is priced high for a reason.. you can lose every match in arena AND legends and still earn marks to get it... the model NOW is if you want the best gear well, you have to win. I prefer this, some don't and that's fine. But pvp enough and you will know if you don't q for 5's and 2's you will face more pugs and get more wins than you think which with exp on this statement it's more factual then it isn't. When you have t3 and decide to mod it there won't be a problem and if also you find players to queue with if you want to try real pvp. Bit stupid to decide to queue solo in to a 5vs map and fight premades.. premades are only good because of their communication/strat.....

How are you going to learn to pvp properly otherwise ? it's how players get good.. Having t4 will NOT mean you will win.. in fact my hero is in t2 and handles himself just fine against these perceived gods in t4.. and the reason is because I know how to counter, block, evade, combo, etc and beat t4 geared players. That's what you want - not gear as it comes with time... gear or OVER gearing is PVE problem not a pvp problem. Those players who get face rolled by people in t4 have done their time and it's not their fault the devs catered to the heroes by creating cross faction pvp where by anyone who queues are chucked into one massive pool of players and let's the game decide. I wish, that it took into account the highest gear you own - as I can see players will purposely wear t2 gear and never face t4 players whilst they themselves have full t4 or are earning t4 but not wearing or buying it straight away.. that needs to be avoided.

The t1-t2 gear pvp styles (as you would have to be crazy to pvp in them nowadays) are cosmetic and maybe should have their health increased on it. But that is what legends is for.. learning the game as you can earn t3, and if you want to mod it you will be just about on even par with a t4 player. I'm telling you now a few minor stats increases doesn't make you a better player - experience does.

There isn't a problem with this. Marks of Lore should be interchangeable for Marks of Strategy. So if players are too scared to try and win pvp arenas and decide to play a more even playing field in legends then so what they should be able to use the mark of winning (lore in this case) to buy a gear that requires you to....win.

I'm full T4 3 times over. (Don't ask) And I really hate fighting the people with lower tiers. Its no challenge. In PVE you can't Q for raids that your CR isn't high enough for. I don't see a problem with making a PVP CR leveled arenas, other then Q times will freeze up a lot. Which might be a huge problem in the long run.
  13. Mini Lini Loyal Player

Honestly, solving this problem would be by letting people gain T4 marks by doing Legends.
Right now you just can't win against the Premades in arenas by PUGing with anything under T4. You stand no chance.
Granted that PRemades still will usually win... IF everyone has T4 you at least have a chance to fight back.

You HAVE to win to get T4. Though you have little to no chances of winning most times. They need to put Marks of Strategy into Legends also, so you can win them there. In Legends you can say you really earned your T4 then by winning FAIR matches.

Being undergeared isn't why most people lose. Most people lose because they are solo-queuing and ending up with a bunch of DPSes as well as Tanks that don't carry debuff removers.

If you queue in as a team of 2 Healers, 1 Tank, 1 DPS and 1 Troller you should win most of the time in the following maps regardless of gear:

    Watchtower
    Australia
    Pit
    Headquarters
    FOS

The mods are a huge factor as well. Most people don't mod anything less than T3 (and rightfully so). So not only is your gear worse, it isn't modded. And then there is the lack of experience. You don't mix in blockbreakers. You throw blockbreakers for too long. You're not even hiding your blockbreakers. So even when you are fighting 3 on 1, you're still losing because you're giving the lone player immunities.

If there were weight classes in DCUO, it will be a huge wait for matches. This game simply doesn't have enough people PvP'ing to where we can afford to segregate players even further.
  15. Midnight Strike New Player

Oddly, the only nerd rage I see is coming from you. I never even said I disagreed with you about the gear to be honest, just playing Devil's advocate to see if you looked at your philosophy from all angles. Well, I don't agree with a rankings system, but I'm not alone in that one.

And if you think I am a T4 geared PVPer then you are wrong. I have T2, working to T3 myself on my main, however I am an altoholic so I put a lot of time into more than one toon. As stated above, the gear is not what holds you back as I pug literally all of my arenas and, with everything in life, win some and lose some. The teams that usually come in and wipe the competition in a short time are usually pre-mades that have a good diversity of tank, healer, controller, and DPS; not to mention that these teams are also communicating directly with one another, have a preset strategy before even entering the arena, and have, in most cases, been working together as a team for quite a while. On the other hand, and remember I said I only pug, a pug walks in and hardly even says hello to each other, much less works together. Sometimes I have been in a group where most of the participants were ready to work together, but for the most part it's like playing with a group of people that each speak a different language. I know that things would go smoother if I joined a group ahead of time, and was better prepared going in, and you should know that too. I still won't, but I'm stubborn that way. But I will say in T1 gear I was taking out T2 players, and in T2 gear I have taken down T4 players. Bottom line: The gear doesn't make the player. Just as much, I have gotten my butt handed to me by players in lower gear than myself, crap happens.

But to say everyone should get stuff faster and easier like you did, I will disagree all day long.
  16. Yallander Loyal Player

I think that lower tier gear should come a bit faster (and I outlined it in another thread) but only to help people increase their survivability. I also think that all tiers of PVP gear should have the same base (or similar base) HP based on role with the only differences coming in other stats. I don't like hitting up an arena and beating on someone in bloodbat/archangel. They only have like 2k HP and alot of players out there can do that much damage in 1-2 combos. It is a rough road to gear up these days and DLC6 didn't make it any easier; however the devs have stated they will be consolidating PVP and PVE marks in the future (with the exception of top tier marks) so that should give players an easier means to obtain better PVP gear and keep out of arenas those just looking for styles and not a fight.

Regarding PVP CR for queues--I don't like it only because I would much rather face a skilled player than someone who bought their way to T4. I've faced and played with lesser geared players who had more heart and skill than alot of T4 geared players out there.
  17. Orochimaru-Sama New Player

-1 i will say this again on this thread like i do on all others i seen asking for this type of thing.

yea its nice to have a good fight but...

whats the point of working so hard to reach t4 if all u ever get to fight is other t4. that would defeat the purpose of getting ur toon stronger in pvp.

if u want to have a strait fair fight, play legends, or street fighter.

if u want to build ur toon to be strong and have an advantage over other players, then play an MMORPG with PVP in it.

seriously why even bother getting higher than t1 if u can go to the arena and only fight other t1s. i worked hard to get my toon stronger because of the super strong guys i met in arenas. i didnt run to legends, get carried on a premade or QQ because the next guys toon was stronger. i just worked hard and stepped my game up.

yea i like a good fight against another t4, but i also enjoy destroying under geared lvl 30s like the OP.

it takes time to get strong on this game. stop being lazy

to clarify , i'm -1 for the idea of making pvp arena "CR" based like pve.

now i would +1 any argument for making a separate cue for premades as that would instantly make arena funner for those of us who enjoy pugging and also for those who need to be on a premade with two healers to be "competitive"
  18. Spidersting Committed Player

There are all kinds of issues with the way the system is for pvp. They have to take an easy approach to fixing it or else it will become so broken that no one will play it. Legends is a great way to gear out a toon for pvp it always has been.

I know players are asking for lobbies or pvp CR or other ways to split the system to make matches more even but there is a major flaw in that system, PVP population. If SoE changes the system to only pit players against equally geared players or some sort of CR bracket I suspect we would start to see que times similar to the few months before mega servers. I don't know about the rest of you but if i was gearing out a new pvp toon i would rather get 5min ques then having the system take 30mins to find the right players in my bracket to put me up against.

If we had a system in place that used something like CR you could still end up with imbalances like say for instance you que up. There are only 4 people in your bracket queing for pvp, 2 of them are queing together, it puts you and the other random in batcave against those 2 that are grouped. Problem with this is each time you que up if more people in your bracket are not queing you will fight the same people over and over. If matches are even between the 4 players it would be a good time but if the matches are blowouts due to skill level it will only take a few matches before someone gets fed up and quits and stops queing all together. And then you end up with no que pops until someone in your bracket decides to que up and the game has enough players to put in a map together. So you could end up with 30+ mins between each que.

If our pvp population was massive like the pve population this would be non issue but with our current pvp participation this system would just fail.

There is no such thing as "balance" or "fairness" in MMO PvP.

And there never will be. You just need to take your lumps and keep fighting.

"Fairness" in PVP doesn't come by making everyone equal, it comes by giving everyone an equal chance to do the same things.
