The clamp applies game wide the clamp is stats revamp. If there was no clamp in a elite content they would not be giving you two more slots just to prove my point they have proved it for me.

Now with two more slots players will have the choice and the Damage out to be able to either kill Grundy or do it the normal way and still get it done in 5 minutes.

Here's why two more slots will be way more effective in bringing combat rating and skill points in line with artifacts. Keep in mind artifacts are not clamped anything with a buff or a percentage to it is not in the clamp.

Ststs revamp has tax brackets also known as the clamp a secret the developers wanted to keep from everyone the secret was we cannot allow you to have all your stats and exploits at the same time.
Now they pretty much give up since 90% of the population hate the clamp.

Tax brackets are as follows as it stands right now with three artifact slots you feel progression every 410sp which is ridiculous any new player will not enjoy PVE at all. Two more slots brings that down to 150 to 250sp now you will feel progression for every 150 skill points to 250sp.

They will be addressing this by making other things in the game less effective with overhauls coming to the game starting with combat allies. Then they're coming after your superchargers with an overhaul to all supercharges to account for the 5th slot. Then you get even more slots once they come up with other ways to move stuff around
  2. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Yes...never said it wasn't needed sometimes...generally after a min or 2 of seeing what they are capable of.
  3. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Still....not even close to the target conversation. But I should have realized.....

Are the power rings here with you now in the same room? Are they speaking to you? What about artifact slots, can you see those in the same room as you? Are they trying to speak to you as well?

This is why you ignore the crazy guy on the subway train. Thou I do wonder how he’s even able to find his way onto the internet. Perhaps his password is “1” just so that he doesn’t forget.

Back to the topic, the intent of the instance was to hold the nodes equally, coordinating support roles and dps, and have someone float to the node under attack. Instead, people found a way to circumvent this. It's amazing how many people would rather stand around waiting for a reward than play together to complete the instance.

I've been kicked for accidentally starting it when I was exiting a menu. So many times, they can't even cheat correctly and end up having to do it the right way. Then, they don't undersand the mechanic because they're so used to cheating, that they end up in a frustrating game of whack-a-mole. They sent me a tell to let me know they completed it the right way, and how quick it turned out to be, but that I still somehow deserved the kick because I accidentally didn't help them cheat.

As the OP pointed out, if done correctly from the start, it could be shorter than cheating, and certainly shorter than waiting, messing up, then starting over.

What kills me are all the people who are saying that the content is too easy, that they hope the next content will be more difficult, but they continue to get through the current content by circumventing the intended mechanics and exploiting the release mechanic.

SILENCE. The problem is you didn't have The Owlman in your group.

You missed the point then. While it MIGHT be theoretically possible to get it done from the beginning in under 5, it's doubtful, especially in Elite or Elite+ where a horde attack will re- turn the pad back to red, thus resetting the initial 2 min default counter. I think the only way it would be done without 'cheating' (it's not cheating by the way, the 5 min timer is by design so you wouldn't get stuck in there for hours) would be to have multiple tanks who could pull the adds off the pads during that initial 2 min countdown.

My point was that when the mechanic doesn't work out that you can capture evenly on the first try, it's better to stay and fight it out vs disbanding most times as the time spent disbanding and waiting another 5 min will take longer than just capturing the nodes. It was always assumed that you'd be 'cheating' (as you call it) and waiting that first 5 min on the initial attempt to capture.

Haven't you been paying attention? The 2 arti slots ARE the power rings, just renamed because they didn't want to spend the additional RnD after they abandoned the re worked stat revamp, which is also known as the stat clamp, which he has always predicted except when they WERE removing the legacy code so that they could then relaunch the entire game.

It's simple if you pay attention. Not to what he says....but what he MEANS by what is NOT being said.

To be fair, there are feats for completing the instance 20 times without losing an obelisk, which is pretty much unachievable for most groups while playing the proper way - not even on Normal. That's definitely a strong motivation for players to cheese it.

I guess they see 2 slots as replacing roles. but what's better then replacing roles? 2 more art slots why? Because the game needs stat matters that's why. Replacing roles is only half the battle. Stat matters is the main goal players want to feel progression first that why 90% of the population hates the clamp so much.

What gonna make 90% of the population stay active... Stat matters will and how do we make that happen as fast as possible 2 more artifact slots

For a while I assumed this was the reason some wanted to disband. I think I might have even suggested to disband once myself when I was like 18 or 19 of 20 lol. But at THIS point? Most should surely have the feat.

IMO the hordes are the only fun part of this raid. The Faust fight is kind of fun in E+. But regular elite? It's a snooze fest other than the hordes.

Only time the 5 minutes fail is when the nodes are not dropping at same pace. This happens mostly with pug groups because 1 node might have 2 dps and rest stay rolls slowing the burn or someone didn't pay attention to the fact 5 minutes was up and group said go. It is faster to do 5 minutes but not if groups are out of sync. For me its about a 70% successful thing
  14. Miranda31 Committed Player

I don't know what % of groups are pug groups, but that's over 80% of the multi-player instances I play. And when you are in one of those it depends on whether anyone has mics they will use, or whether they will type out cues/questions (having selected the right chat channel) or just do what seems right to them at the time. This is a problem due to the game having poor communication channels within instances. It's hard enough to get agreement between 2 people at a node about what to do when a spirit becomes available. Usually one just decides they want to do the escort and barges ahead. It's up to the other whether/how far to follow in support.

In other words, 90% of the time there is ZERO co-ordination. Just 2 people here, 2 people and so on there doing their thing. MAYBE one will cross over to another node under threat by a horde (that's horde, not hoard, btw) but it isn't a given. That's why people stand around, it's not because they don't want to help, but the set-up doesn't cue them to do anything else and the communication tools are clumsy and avoided most of the time. Heck, I've decided that my partner was good enough by themselves and gone to help only to discover that the other node had turned the corner and was in the blue again by the time I arrived, whilst there's a horde at my home node.

So this "correctly" business - I do not know what you are talking about, sorry.
  15. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

I think I'm at 14 or 15 on the 20s (phase 1 and 2) and I still wouldn't call for disband. At some point if I still need the counts, I'll have to get a group and do them....but I'll do that in casual in 1 sitting with people that know the mechs.

Honestly the phase 1 feat isn't the one that ticks me off. Its the fact that I don't have phase 2 done, which SHOULD be easy except that as soon as the counter hits 10 or 11, everyone abandons post to go make needless Pew-pew numbers on adds for the final escort. Not sure how many times I've put in "hey, can we make sure not to lose control of the circles?" only to see 1 solid red bar a minute later.

Best to do that one in the alert. Even with PUGs, one player can easily hold both obelisks, since there are no hordes in the 2nd phase.

When ppl want to disbanded, I ask why. They say no healer.
    I say block for heals.

The difficulty of coordination or the lack of coordination employed by the community does not mean that instances were not built with the intent that players should be cooperating to complete it.
  19. Reinheld Devil's Advocate

Yes...sorry. I should have specified. If I were doing the feat with a set group, I'll probably do it in the alert...and casual mode. I'm not that desperate yet.

Probably the reason I don't have the feat done is I generally don't run the alert this ep. I do the dailies on reset day and the 2 raids (on multiple toons) and I'm out for the week save whatever daily 'bar' I'm trying to fill out currently. I'll do dailies on non reset day IF I'm waiting for the queue, but for the most part I'm checked out this ep.

I have also had 2 strong dps with omega able to hold a horde node in elite. The key is to kill all the adds and ignore the walker until the adds are dead. When the 2nd wave of horde adds come again, kill them first and go back to the walker. A combo of orbitals, CC dps moves (like celestial wrath, electric bomb) will keep the adds off the node while omega beams wipe them out.
