Ok and? I'm sorry to seem unemphatic but you want me to give them kudos for doing their job? I'm sorry but as a developer your job is for you to work on the server and do what you need to do to please use people who pay money for your product. Yeah I seen how much slimline auras are in but also you know how much bugs there are in the game right now that are in even more demand? Yet they want to focus on this auras? Priorities haha I have more to say but I'm leaving home right now and will edit or finish off my post later on if I get to it but nice having this convo with you! You actually posted good facts instead of attacking me and calling me an idiot like some people did. Convos like this are fun sometimes and I like your way of thinking and they way you handled the topic! Hope to see yah around the forums! lol and yes I do agree premium is terrible. They just need to buff legendary more to give room to premium users so they aren't the same as f2p except with a few more character slots and 500 more cash.

That really depends on how largescale some of those texture maps are. It could be akin to cleaning with a toothbrush, or it could be akin to replacing carpeting and painting the walls with a wide stroke brush. Some textures are very fast to replace while others take more time depending on the mapping. Some environments may have taken hours to do while others took seconds. Creating the textures themselves also varies similarly with some taking hours and others taking minutes to create.

Point is: You may be giving the developers too much credit with that statement about cleaning with a toothbrush. It's a lot of work, yes, but probably not as much as you make it out to be.

Just because you have a different point of view than mine doesnt mean your an idiot. Whenever anyone gets into conversations like this they need to be ready to admit they are wrong just as much as they are willing to stand up for their point of view. If ppl arent willing to do that then theres no point in them commenting in the first place, because no matter how much sense someone elses counterpoint has or how much irrefutable evidence they have, those ppl will never be able to admit they could be wrong. Its like the unstopable force vs the immovable object.

The only thing id add is that right now, the devs are actually doing more than their job. Most, (and I mean about 98% when I say most) MMOs put out 1 DLC per annum max. Most MMOs dont frequent the Forums like these devs do either, its Sunday and Captain Liberty was answering queries there a few hours ago as evidenced by the SOE Tracker. Most MMOs dont do livestreams for new content or set up WIP Threads for direct player feedback. Those examples are but a handful of what these devs do that others dontbon other MMOs. And if these devs are doing what others arent, that means theyre doing more than what others are, which is more than is required of them. Lets not forget, as you said their job is to make the game better for players right? Nothing about that says they need to converse with players, or test with players, or give and take feedback. They could simply say "We're making a Lantern Trilogy", stay quiet for months while they work, and release it as it had been imagined by the Writers/Creative Dir. But they dont. They decided they want players to feel involved and feel like their opinions matter, and by the looks of things from Test Server Feedback threads, our opinions and ideas DO matter. Just because someone brought up a topic or bug or problem and the Devs havent responded does NOT mean they didnt take note of it, it usually means "we're not at the stage to comment on that yet". Which means theyre hard at work on something right now, but we will get to it eventually. They can do things fast or they can do things right, its gotta be one or the other. One factor ppl often forget too is that DCUO/SOEs staff numbers were cut significantly late last year. As far as we know there could only be 2-3 ppl working in one area of this game, maybe even less.

Could there be faster bug fixes? Maybe, but we dont know.
Could there be more content in DLCs? Yes, but that would sacrifice time so thered probably only be 3-2 DLCs per annum.
Do we know how many Devs are working on DCUO right now? No, we know some were cut, but we dont have a number. They have no reason to reveal that number either. And without that number, nobody can rightfully say that they "should" be doing more or better.

I get what your saying and I do understand, the only problem is that your statement is kind of redundant.
I dont mean offense by that btw, what I mean is, considering neither of us work for DCUO or worked on the Graphics Update ourselves, with regards to that statement both of us could be as right as each other or as wrong as each other. In other words your reply kinda leaves us in a stalemate, and its one that will never be resolved because a dev isnt likely to come on and say "oh yeah, sodam is definitely closer" or vice versa.

By that comment I was merely trying to put the scale of this game into perspective. It wasnt just Watchtower, it wasnt just HoD, it wasnt even just Metropolis, which is a lot bigger and full of a lot more textures/environments than ppl realise. It was everything. Every single room that your toon can enter, every single floor and wall and ceiling you can run across, every flag or banner or scroll or glyph or etc etc etc. Lets not forget too that after completion, the Update needed to go through a hefty number of Graphical Passes too to make sure there werent any weird glitches or "Matrix walls" or fall-through floors. These changes needed to be tested as well as made at every pass. Its like a golden rule of Game Design, you change anything you test it.

Please hit enter just 1 time when your typing, I love DCUO so.

Oh, I agree that neither of us knows what went on behind the scenes, but as someone who has done some graphics programming, I can say that it is much easier to design as much texture mapping as possible to be as broad as possible. I'm sure that the game developers who work on those aspects of the game took similar courses to those I took, so I'd imagine they know that. That's not always possible to do, but based on what I see in game, I'd say the majority of textures have pretty large maps.

That does in no way detract from the amount of work that had to be done for the graphics revamp. There are still a ton of places textures had to be reapplied, but it's more in line with going through and re-carpeting and re-painting hundreds of homes than cleaning a handful of homes with a toothbrush. Probably took about the same amount of time, but the detail work was less strenuous if that makes sense.

Also, in regards to testing: even with their testing, they missed quite a few bounding boxes that left collections unable to be reached and even made completing Wayward Souls impossible for most groups. Those things happen with graphics changes. I know I've been guilty of bounding issues with some of my simulations I conduct for robotics applications.

And yea the dinosaur base items are for a feat and they come from prom boxes so that statement that "base items that drop in the boxes are horrible and dont even go towards a feat" is completely wrong. I agree we need something new in prom boxes, but get your facts straight b4 u speak and start a thread like this please.

The majority of base items we get in the boxes are terrible, though. They are not aesthetically pleasing to most players, so there is little demand for them from a trading or selling standpoint. It is great that lockboxes have base items tied to a feat (even if the drop rate is incredibly low and annoyingly so), but the other base items should have more appeal given that lockboxes are something that players have to spend real money to open. I feel bad for Premium players who purchase keys and end up with the base items that few have a desire to use.

Subbed players are a minority? Yea i think your wrong on that and if your going to make a statement like that at least show some #s to back it up. And your asking some1 else for stats or a graph and u dont have that to back up your statement? My ignore list on these forums just seems to grow everyday.

The simple fact is if your legendary the prom boxes are not a perk anymore except for the 1 MoF. Every premium player i know even has all the styles from them. The items in the prom boxes badly need to be updated and give us some new styles. If u were a legendary player u would see that. The fact that your not and cant open prom boxes unless u purchase keys and somehow your in this thread? I dont even have words for this.

Lockboxes are trash and need to be updated period.

    Disagree

But, I agree that an update would be nice.

Yes it may seen like they are working their *** and they might be but you must work even harder. I remember my ASB teacher would say after everything we threw "Ok that event was great. Now what can we do better." Keep in mind some days we would be up at school until 9-10pm. after I get out of practice I would go down the MPR and go straight into helping out. Some days I would have to take all my classwork home to do because I was in the ASB room doing stuff throughout the day. Keep in mind that we are known as one of the best in our area, yet we know we can always do better. With that in mind, just because DCUO may seem to be working harder than other MMOs doesn't show that they are doing more than they should. In actuality DCUO has to push out that content from the fact that they fall behind in other areas. The main thing is DCUO being a lack of a universe. The game may push out 2 DLCs a year but what are they doing in between. When they push out a DLC, it gets boring really fast after which means they aren't doing something right. If the devs cannot manage their jobs they need to find better ones because in business it can be fast pace and you will need pull an all nighter a few nights in the week sometimes. Do I call this doing more than their job? No I call it doing their job correctly. They could push 8DLC a year and will still not be doing more than their job. ITS THEIR JOB TO DO THESE THINGS and people need to realize this Your job is your job. You are getting paid for it. You are supposed to be the expert. Meaning when these fail I will be coming to you because you are the one who is supposed to fix it. It's as simple as that. DCUO honestly seems to be hanging by threads now. The game isn't thriving as much as it should. Especially PC servers. I log on to the villain side on there and see about 10 people. They take our advice because they know that if they don't less cash flow will be coming. Sony wants their money so that's why captain liberty is replying to some threads. I don't know how much workers there are for this game, but with the money they have, I'm sure they can do alot better.. Sure we have no actually proof of the number of devs but who's fault is it for having little amount of devs if they do? Not our faults. They are on the backend and should be worrying about it, not me. The fact they they are run/partnered by the companies of PS, DC, WB, and SOE will hold them to higher expectations than if it were run by someone else. Is it fair? Well yes and no. At least that's just my opinion on the matter.

It is really difficult to read posts that do not break up subject matter into separate paragraphs as each subject evolves into a new subject. You admit to having an education, so please use it. Your posts may be insulting to your ASB teacher due to the lack of flow and difficulty to read.

I agree, the game is lacking content and has a lot of problems. I have been playing for over a year and keep waiting for it to turn around, but your expectations are not realistic with the resources available to the game's development. I'm pretty sure they do pull a lot of all nighters based on the number of times I have seen posts on the forums at all hours.

The forums are not the proper place to address the jobs of the developers. We are here to discuss what is needed for the game and how to improve upon it by providing suggestions, but we are not here to tell the developers or SOE how to do their jobs. If you have a problem with how the game is managed, that should be taken up externally to the game and the forums. Your best venue is probably help.soe.com or through their telephone lines. Most companies have a customer relations department for a reason.

While I could have separated them into paragraphs, the thing I wrote was directed specifically to one person and neither of us seemed to mind. Don't know for sure because I'm not him. I didn't mind reading one long paragraph. And it's the forums. We can talk about what we feel is effecting the game negatively or positively. The discussion about devs is was a branched off topic of me. Also do you not understand that ASB isn't an English class? I'm sure they pull all nighters, however a post on a forum doesn't really suggest so.

Me "telling them how to do their jobs" was more of me stating that they aren't doing more than they should because it's their job to shoot for providing the best experience possible in this game. No I won't call them to waste their time ranting about something they would forget as soon as they end the call lol

It's customary to provide the full names the first time you specify something. For instance, the Associated Student Body (ASB) would be defined as in this sentence. Then in subsequent sentences, the reader is able to follow what ASB means without having to do a search in hopes that search provides the true name and not just one for a certain context. Also, based on what ASB is, whether it is an English class or not, it does involve conveying messages to the student body which requires articulation beyond which was exemplified in your previous post.

Customer relations can be a great way to facilitate these matters. I managed to get a laptop returned to Sony through their buy-back program by pushing the issue enough. You have to be fairly aggressive to get companies to listen, but they do eventually listen to customers if enough evidence is presented in a logical manner.

Here's the thing: unless you're there, in their offices seeing what they do day in and day out, you're really not in much of a position to say that "they aren't doing more than they should."

One thing it will get you, though, is the wrong kind of attention from the devs. Others in the past have questioned what Spytle and the other devs do and how hard they work, and he's never taken kindly to people questioning that or saying he and his team aren't doing their best. His reaction to those kinds of comments showed up one time in a livestream or FNL broadcast, and the goofy, fun-loving Spytle disappears pretty quick when people question his team and their work.

So my 105 cr toon just got an ATK-04 from a Prom Box. I thought ATK's were moved exclusively to the vault? Not to mention I'm tier 6 and just got a T4 soda... glitch?
  19. Black Dawn Steadfast Player

T4 is the highest and I believe only drop in boxes. Their drop rate used to be crazy high, but they nerfed it due to people complaining about them hehe. I do wish that they would add T5 and T6 soders...and maybe some new styles and base items (which have feats attached to them).
  20. willflynne 10000 Post Club

Yeah, not a glitch. It was the jewelry that was moved to the Vaults.

Actually I thought they were removed from the boxes completely for a while, but then people complained about not getting them (after complaining about how often they dropped and how "useless" they were lol) and they put them back in as a rare drop. May be remembering wrong, though.
