I think being DCUO famous has gone to his head. Some righteous god energy going on here.

Playing devil's advocate here. If you or any player wasn't around in 2014-2017 to run that content what makes you feel entitled to rewards that only came out in 2014-2017? Does the entitlement come from that since you are a DCUO player you are entitled to every single possible reward that has ever been released 2011 through 2023? If you weren't playing during the sony hack what makes you think you should earn the back from the hack feat? If you were around in 2013 to get the OG Plasmic aura do you feel entitled that DCUO should release that again because you weren't playing during 2013? I genuinely would LOVE to read any argument from a player that could possibly justify them wanting a reward that was tied to a specific instance or year that has long passed just because "they want it"

I don't know how you can say being dcuo famous has gone to my head when the overwhelming sense of entitlement comes from every post of a similar nature.

I didn't preorder dcuo through steam or bestbuy, I didn't do the facebook quizes. I would love those trinkets that were the rewards like the Penguin's Gun-brella or the Scarecrow Screamer but guess what I accept that I won't have them because I didn't earn them. I'm not going to be upset or complain that they should come back "just because I want them"

They could grant every player all the PvP feats, they could make the CR Skip token have 400 skill points, they could just make packs of skill points available on the marketplace for cash. They could make 2x Ally fortify weeks. They could bring back the OG Plasmic and sell it in a remixed booster bundle with a 0.01% drop rate.

Daybreak reserves the absolute right to change, modify, reintroduce, reincorporate, and use all virtual items in the game at their sole discretion, if they choose to reintroduce something, they can and they will.

    Now you're getting it.

I also very rarely, if ever, see them requested, perhaps you should try instead of policing whether or not other people deserve things or worrying about whether you do? It's just a video game ;)

Some stuff has already come back already, make the request and see if the developers grant it, it's really that simple.

That would make me a hypocrite, which then you would use as an exemplar for our future conversations :p 99.9% of players wouldn't even know what those trinkets are or what they looked like. If I made a video showing them I bet you'd see posts asking for them.
  7. Proxystar #Perception

Come now, I'm not like that :p

No seriously chill, it would only seem like that (hypocritical) because you've chosen to position yourself in a place that makes it such because you've taken such a hard line, I seriously wouldn't care if you made the request for any items, they're cool items, why not.

It's a hard line because its an argument that doesn't make sense. What is the reason for certain rewards that were only obtainable in certain years to come back besides "just because I want them"? I don't have my LPVE feats done but maybe if I wait enough the devs will just auto grant all the LPVE feats in a cr skip. I'm sure lots wouldn't care, but what about the ones who earned them by spending weeks of their time in lpve? What about the players who were interested in dcuo and played it and earned those rewards when they were obtainable instead of a player 6 years later picking up the game and says they deserve everything that has ever dropped just because "they" play dcuo and pay a membership? I don't see how it's not the perfect example of entitlement.

Should DCUO grant the Year One cape style to players in 2023 just because they make a post on the forums asking for it because they want the style? or how about giving the prosabian cape even though they never even played on EU? Sure you can say "who cares" but what you should really be asking is "who cares that those players want rewards from 5-6 years ago?" come up with new styles and rewards to drop and leave the old ones be.

You saw the posts about the back from the hack feat. "It's not fair that other players get 50 feat points and I can't get it even though I started playing in 2020" that player wasn't even around to go through the servers being dead and their financial information being compromised lol
  9. Proxystar #Perception

And yet, they've already diluted the hack rewards by giving away the cowl, so your argument is pretty moot ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And oh no, what about those poor souls that completed the LPVE feats before the bonus weeks or the PVP feat nerfs?

Look the reality is people are just making requests for things they want in a video game they have fun in, the only people that really care are the players who feel a need to protect and gate keep things because they fear losing that thing they believe makes them distinct in the game so that they can keep feeling special about themselves.

Truth is, it's just a video game, they're pixels on your screen of which you own nothing, there's no such thing as entitlement because there's no such thing as ownership in the first place.

You have a license to play the game, in the same way you say players have no such right to make the request, you have no equal right to stand in their way, because you're not entitled to protect any of it either.

Today's society is so obsessed with this word "entitlement". Like the narcissism is just oozing out of their shower nozzles. It's weird.

Entitled is obviously the wrong word here, except for maybe your apparent right to voice your opinions as fact. I salute you and your enormous e-dong.

I think it would be a cool idea to bring the previous survival modes back with ALL the awards as long as they at least attempt to replicate the same difficulty. The game has changed a lot since then so they will likely fail at that precision. Even so... I would enjoy it.

I have quite a few of those old survival modes as well so I believe I'm mostly unbiased when I say that your desire to protect those styles from your peers that are willing to endure what you went through to get them simply because you were there at the right place and right time... is incredibly silly and probably "entitled". They deserve a chance to earn them, in my humble opinion.

My stance on the back from the hack feat is rather simple. I just believe anyone that has put serious hours in the game deserves maximum potential. Nothing is more disheartening than learning that you spent 1000 hours on this game and you can never achieve statistical perfection no matter what you do. Its that simple. I understand that they deserve compensation for what they endured at that time... this just isn't something that I think is fair to everyone else.

So basically it's just like I said. The only argument to be made to bring back older rewards like that is "because players feel entitled to anything and everything in DCUO now" and your counter argument was "who cares"
  12. ObsidianChill Creator League, Community "Trusted"

Let's use a real life example then. What if you were a war veteran and you saw some old WWII medals you wanted to complete your uniform and you just going to buy them off ebay and wear them around?
  13. Cyclonic Dedicated Player

That would be stolen valor and just about the most embarrassing crime you could ever commit. Most soldiers would probably rather go down for for murder.

That's a pretty wild comparison there. We're talking about a right place right time for a digital character existing with the press of a few buttons. Not a right place right time for experiencing the darkest side of humanity, coming out on top, and being a hero. Might want to work on your metaphors there, your grace.

It's not about feeling entitled, it's just about playing a video game, seeing something that you like, wanting it and subsequently making a request for it because you've found it to be no longer available.

The Terms of Service says what it says about virtual items in a double edged way to make sure people are realistic about them.
    1. Players can't necessarily expect to have every virtual item in game, but they can undoubtedly request them, and;
    2. Players can't covet said items as if they have exclusive control over them, Daybreak control when, if and how items are used,
When you earned that Trigon Survival Mode chest you earned a license to use that item because that's how Daybreak chose to provide it to you on that occasion, but you don't own that chest style, nor does the method in which you earned it limit Daybreaks discretion as to when, if or how they might reintroduce it to the game or even the method in which they might do so.

Daybreak don't have to listen to you or I, with respect to the exclusivity of rare, time limited or exclusive items, they will do what they feel like, not what we feel like and for that reason despite it being clear you don't want exclusive items to return, I would say because you don't want the item to feel "less special" we can't stop people from requesting them and ultimately Daybreak deciding they'll comply with the request.

So it isn't about having a counter argument of "who cares" it's not really a counter argument, in as much as its an acceptance of the reality, caring only sets yourself up for disappointment in either direction.

So yes, Who cares, is exactly how it should be approached, enjoy your exclusive rewards, but holding on to them as "never going to be shared" because that's what Larfleeze does and he doesn't usually win in the long run ;)

Wanting something you didn't earn nor were around for...... right tell me how that is a wild comparison

Quoting the TOS isn't the counterpoint to this argument. For one the TOS means nothing because the devs have willingly broken it or ignored it in the past because what are we as players going to do launch a lawsuit because Dimensional Ink didn't follow Daybreaks TOS? there is absolutely no recourse by players whatsoever. They could announce a TOS change tomorrow that takes away all player rights and we will all accept and act like nothing has changed anyways.

Legally they can bring back the old rewards, I really don't think there is a single player in the game that would argue that lol that isn't the point anyone is making.

You want the old survival modes to come back? sure You want the pets and base items to come back as rewards? sure they were the same each year. But where the entitlement comes from is that they would want everything to come back including rewards that were tied to that specific year. The reason they want everything to come back? "just because" "cause I want it" and that is honestly just pathetic and further shows how every dcuo player these days has a silver spoon in their mouth
  19. Proxystar #Perception

That's the part you're not getting about it, none of that matters, you don't have to technically "earn" ownership of anything nor be around for them.

The request is made for the item to be returned, that request is made as per the terms of service allowing Daybreak to return the item.

The method in which it were to return would be up to Daybreak, people could certainly express a request as to the method as well, again however, decision up to Daybreak, if it were even to return.

You are placing too much importance upon the virtual item to represent your achievement, so much so that it is distorting your acceptance of the terms in which the reward was provided to you in the first place.

You were provided with a 'use right' to that item, you were not provided with a right to parade that item like a medal Daybreak are prevented from ever using again so as to preserve your sense of worth or achievement.

You can't launch a lawsuit, the terms of service largely prohibit you from doing so, also, I take it you've read them, perhaps not?

They're effectively the contract you agree to when you play the game - although I doubt I have to tell you this.

The TOS allow Daybreak to return the virtual items, that's the reality we're dealing with here, there's no if's or buts about it, there's no ObsidianChill doesn't want it to happen so it won't, the TOS strictly say Daybreak can return all and any Virtual items in any capacity as well as remove them, it works both ways and the request from another player for it to return is exactly that, a request.

They don't need your permission nor your endorsement, nor do they have to actually care about your feelings as to whether or not it needs to be protected to those being in the right place at the right time to run a survival mode, open a booster bundle or play on the EU server or join a Facebook promotion.

As for your last sentence, sure, they want items to come back "just because", just because they like, them and want them, that's typically the reason why they want them to come back and that amounts to anything a subjective player wants and that might include everything.

I'm honestly not sure why you oppose the idea, It seems to me to be because you don't want to have someone else swoop in and make your shiny seem less special.

Quite literally who cares, if all the survival mode stuff comes back, Bring a new survival mode back and call it "survival mode reboot" and put everything, literally everything on the vendor, with marks, people need to play to earn rewards, sounds like a great way to increase game participation in the game and Daybreak revenue, or we could just, well, continue to protect virtual items that make us feel special about something we did 10 years ago so we can reminisce about how awesome we are.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
