If you don't understand a troll with less then 50%power not giving dps power play as a troll for a while

for the record I used to be a power hog electric healer but made power adjustments now I rarely run 50% of my power out

Only times where a quick burn matters is in speed feats, and t5 raids. Beyond those points in time if DPSers are complaining about power they need to chill out just my opinion though.

Well I agree and disagree at the same time. I most often play DPS (however I'm also experienced on the gameplay and viewpoints of troller/tank/healer), but I rely on a huge part of my damage to come from weapon combos to lower my burden on the trollers.
When I B at a troller for not supplying power, it's warranted. Most often than not I'll have the troller tell me to stop using so much power, and to follow that up I'll tell them to press Y and look at my power in, and it is usually abysmal compared to the rest of the group(other than the trollers). My damage doesn't lack from it either. In a BD run with basically 2 dps because the 3rd wasn't really pulling any weight, I had double the damage out and half the power in compared to the 2nd DPS, our gears were even (although he had HT mods, I stopped buying DLC after HoF) and he was the same power type.

So no I don't agree that it's proper to tell someone to chill out on their power consumption, because the fault may actually be the troller. I do agree though most people need to learn to minimize their power in and maximize their XX out.

If the group isn't running fluidly good players will assume fault, not blame. Low power? Troller should be working over time, and others should be more conservative. People dying? DPSes should stop and let tank engage first, even if he's slow. Healer should have quicker reaction times and account for stupidity, tank should get into the fray more quickly.

The beginners who do not understand the concept of saving and storing have trouble with it, of course. It's just management of power, and when to use your powers in quick succession, and when to only use your weapons. It comes down to experience, and players will learn, eventually.

Which means it's YOUR job to teach them how to do it. If you don't nobody may and they'll always be power hogs.

P.S. sorry about double respond, i pressed edit and it wasn't working so i had to do this :(

agreed some people need to figure it out on thier own though

The primary controller should be using power over time every 20-25 seconds. The rest of his power bar is for debuffing and crowd control abilities.

The secondary controller should be using instant power only when power bars get critically low on certain players (primarily the healers, or the PoT troll), not constantly. The rest of his power is for debuffing and crowd control abilities.

The rest of the players in the group should be managing their power to match the regeneration provided by those conditions. If they're running below 50% power more often than not, they need to adjust their ability usage. Tanks and healers are the exception, as they frequently have to burn a little more power to manage emergency situations (taunting and healing), and in those cases the secondary troll can use battery to get them back up.

Players who cannot manage their own power have only themselves to blame, not their reliance on overgeared trollers.

I think tman made this thread in support of certain trollers who have stated that they are going to stop trolling because trolls get 90% of the blame for everything, even when you have a good troll.
The last Khandaq run I did as dps (I am usually troll), my power bar never dropped below half. Never. I thought the trolls did an excellent job of supplying power, and debuffing the bosses. I doubt I could have done better, even though I would have been way OP for the run as troller (ran dps in my troller gear and was 2nd highest damage). But one guy is talking trash throughout the run - how he's the best dps ever, and all that. Out of three dps, two trolls, two heals, and a tank, he was sixth in damage out. Someone pointed this out. Of course, it was the trollers' fault. They weren't giving him enough power. To make it worse for them, I have my power dump on my dps loadout, and hit it if I see the trolls or healers getting low on power (once you learn to watch the power bars, you do it regardless of your current role). I had 2nd highest power out - which led to this guy abusing the 2nd troller, who was barely behind me and only CR 50. As I said, I thought the trolls had done an excellent job. But, when a short-coming came to light, who to blame? The trollers!
And, if you're wondering, I am one of those trollers in the other thread. My main will stay a troll, but all my alts are going to be dps from now on. Would it help if I learned the other roles? Probably. But, I've lost interest in learning anything but trolling, and in out dpsing the self-proclaimed beasts who blame their failings on trollers.

GreenBear - you said you use weapons in dps. So do I. Many don't - especially the Light powered dpses. And the thing that makes their power drain and constant griping even worse is the fact that they take all the troller gear that drops. Never ran with a Light dps that didn't need on troller gear - and the one time I won the roll, accused me, the troller, of ninja looting. I've also considered leaving any group that has a Light dps in it for as long as I play DCUO.

yes I made in support of the good trolls that still get the blame and point out there are ways to lower your power out while still being effective

not to mention the trolls that leave due to certain powers before knowing how the player plays at leasr give all chance if you see them being a problem then do something about it
