POWER GUZZLING HEALERS!!!

Nowadays it's common for healers to just guzzler power like a Humvee. Although I posted these pointers on a different thread:
    https://forums.station.sony.com/dcu...is-troll-something.250597/page-4#post-3224062
I thought about making a separate thread so that more people could see it. I have a 105 troll and a 114 cr healer so I've experienced both sides of the coin. I've NEVER been accused of power-guzzling and have soloed the hardest raids (HoH, Thrones, etc). Although some of my methods are unconventional, they are effective. Here are the TOP reasons and solutions to overcome power drainage/abuse:

    1. Shield: If you pay close attention, you'll realize that the VAST majority of power-guzzling healers DON'T use a shield, which is a BIG mistake in my humble opinion. My claim is based on the following factors:
    a. A shield protects the players from incoming damage
    b. Gives the healer some time for his power bar to fill up
    c. Gives the TROLL a breather due to having one less player using his power
    d. While protecting, it allows the on-going heals to fill up the power bar, without a need for extra power usage from the healer.
    e. Serves as an extra shield for the tank who is the most likely player to receive it due to him being the prime target of attacks.
The shield is a KEY healer tool for power management, yet I see SOOO many healers running around without it. On some rare occasions when there's a strong tank with TWO high-cr trolls, I use a buff in lieu of the shield. More often than not however, I constantly use my shield as soon as it becomes available.
    2. Some healers are scoreboard chasers, which is really sad and nonsensical. Some healers dream of out-healing another, when healing is not like dps'ing. Good healing cannot be reflected on the board because someone might over-heal (power-abusers) when there's no need for such, especially with the proper use of shields. Healing is about shielding, surviving, positioning, having the right loadout and specs.
    3. Non-Nature healers will use more power, in general, due to the power-back mechanism built-in to Nature. "Some powers need more power to power them." In other words, some powers use more power than others. The biggest offender with respect to power-guzzling is (STILL) Electricity.
    4. Some healer are stingy with respect to supercharge usage. Unlike a lot of healers, I use my supercharge (which heals, shields AND gives power back) whenever one of the following happens:
    a. A critical moment occurs where the boss goes berserk, such as the Last Boss in Labyrinth when his life bar is very low and the gate opens for more adds to come out.
    b. The tank's power is low, thereby preventing him from using a shield or other power.
    c. The troll's power is low, preventing him from giving instant power or PoT. By giving the troll power when he's low allows him to get back on track.
    d. The majority of players's life bars are low and I don't have enough power to bring them back to adequate levels (AND don't have a soder cola handy to replenish my power).
    e. I, the healer, need power and cannot use a soder cola for whatever reason.
    5. I use the turf/base mod "Reserve Tank" which give 800+ power, so while the other healer is dry I'm at either half or 35% left on my power bar.
    6. Horrible tank. A tank (especially Rage tank) who can't stay alive for even a second or thinks he's a dps will cause the healer to overwork thereby burdening the troll.
    7. Horrible Dpses. Dps'es who don't know how to position themselves well, such as those who stand directly behind the tank in the crosshairs of the boss, cause the healer to overwork unnecessarily, thereby burdening the troll.

Those are the main reasons from my observation as to why healers might guzzle power and exhaust the troll.

Please tell me more about these 2 healer runs as I have never heard of healing scoreboard chasing. Didnt even know dual healing was even possible.

    TLDR
But, I know what you're saying about heals being power hungry. Seems they can never have enough power. It's just spam spam spam "I can heal" lol It reminds me of the old days where DPS would drain their power bars in 7 seconds never using a weapon and then say this (actually it was more like "these") troll sucks. Don't heals have a power back mechanic or is it a heal thing when they use WM or AM?

Only nature has a power back mechanic.

I needs more power!!!!!!!!!! I can heal through one shots!!!!!!!!!!!!

Truthfully, don't get mad at the players. Most of these anomalies are a direct result of bad game design. 1shot mechanics, resto through the roof, insane health of both nps and players, eh

Bad power management is more likely the only reason.

    As for Shields.....
I would not be surprised if most Healers do not use Shields period.

I stopped using Shields with my Electric Healer pretty quick

    Why???

Because it would be gone pretty much as soon as I would cast it. So not really worth it.

I prefer to leave the Shields to the Troll. My Trolls have much stronger Shields them my Healers.

Although I do use Shields with my Celestial Healer...... it is mostly because I can not only get a Shield... even if it's a weak Shield..... but I can also used it to do a combo.
So making a Combo makes it a bit more worth it.

The real problem is Healer who spam heals when no one is hurt..... or who try to DPS as a Healer.

Using Shield or not has nothing to do with how much power a Healer uses.

I will agree that shields are fairly useless outside of three hits. I won't use my shield unless the raid is taking a crap ton of damage and I need to stall for like 2 seconds to get the heal off. or use it as a instant self heal if you have the superpower shield home turf mod (which is really handy)

You should at least consider using shields for some instances. They can be much more important than whatever you replaced it with when you know someone will be taking large spike damage that can potentially one shot. They also provide the best health per unit of power if you exclude supercharges.

I personally hardly ever use a shield as nature. It's just not needed, even in crappy raid runs. Nor do I use a supercharge...again because it's just not needed. Now when I was celestial I used both the shield and supercharge, but that's because with that particular powerset, it worked better in the loadout and was needed.

Is it really common to come across power guzzling healers? I play all 3 roles and it's not really something I see unless the healer has recently switched to the role or is using a new power...... either way I think the issue your more likely experiencing is to do with power scaling, if your running content with a CR 105 Troller anybody CR 110 plus is going to strain you. If this is not the case have a word with said healers about rotation or just don't run with them. The last thing I want to see is for these sorts of threads to spring up regularly...... the last time trollers complained excessive power usage it didn't really end that well.

Will give it a try.... but last time I did use them shields with my Electric Healer.... it did not even last 1 second.... heck I would say it lasted like half a second at best.

So it did seem like a waste to use it.

But I will give it another try. We shall see. ;)

Agreed. Electric Healers have two shields (Flux and Group Transcedence). Flux only covers 4 people and will not protect you in high end content at all. GT is a supercharge that I will use when the majority of the group is low on health.

Electric Healing is hard to gauge because it relies heavily on burst heals but the healer still should know how to manage their power better (ie....don't spam Galvanize or Ionic Drain).
