Personally Concerned about direction of this game.

I dont understand how AoJ prices are meant to match AF3 in terms of time frame. The amount of content is roughly the same. We as players just get more marks. But the increase in marks rewarded does not match the increase in cost for all the items. The increase in marks rewarded is we get 70% more marks. Im talking about AF3 84 marks a week to 143 marks a week with AoJ. 84 marks to 143 marks is a 70% increase in marks. Chest in AF cost 110 marks, in AoJ its 185. That is a 68% increase. So the mark cost lines up with the reward cost.

The problem is the other items and the content itself. AF3 had the mino head for 300 marks. AoJ had 3 heads for a total of 900 marks. This is a 200% increase. OP items, AF2 had 2 for 250 marks each. AoJ has 3 for 435 marks, 575 marks, 720 marks. So 500 marks total in AF3 to 1730 marks in AoJ. This is a 246% increase. These costs do not line up. A 70% increase in marks but 200-246% increase in cost

Then the content. Its roughly the same amount. But because of the costs it means players are required to run the same content over a longer period of time. 3 months to now 6-7 months. This is the main problem. Burning players out. Content getting stale. The repetition makes it stale. And when there is no engagement and u barely even have to pay attention to anything it gets stale. Lastly the alt problem is still there. The solution that was given in AF3, half off the cost, doesnt really help anything. Because the gear cost isnt the issue, showed above that matches up.

Its having to run that same content on multiple toons every day for 6 months or longer. If u regularly play this game you know getting burnt out because of running the same content, the same content you can destroy in a matter of mins, is a valid concern a lot of players have. Blasting through content in minutes means there is no difficulty and there is no engagement. Even players who want very easy content will get burnt out running the same few instances every day for 6 months or longer. 1 toon daily for that amount of time results in burnout and multiple toons has the same result only faster.

What's going on here? Do I agree with Proxy? Omg I do. 100 percent. This game lacks any real meaningful direction. Each piece of content gets less engaging. And these special events which were conceived as a gift are really just money grabs. Content is so easy it's being beaten by pugs, at level, on day 1. On the first attempt.

We know the direction its going. I saw the vendor prices. Ive seen what they think of real content and DLC and how that relates to subbing. The reality is theh want more capsules, more free and premiums, more free content and less real content. You want grind for 7 months for gear thats clamped all year. Guess they are banking on the replay warriors to gear out for SM. They will bank on the free and premiums subbing so they can use to broker for all the shinys in time capsules. The value in membership and DLC is gone. For those who don't see it, shame, for those who do see the writing on the wall, you know. Thats why i think im officially done with DCUO. love the game, just can't stomach this any longer.

Agreed. The game has been feeling more and more like a job lately, and even when playing mostly just solo content it's still taking a lot of time.

From running seasonal events daily, which most of these seasonals now require you need to run alts if you don't want to buy seasonal currency off the marketplace.
Then you've gotta do all your bigger seasonal missions daily so that's your second grind.
And finally you need to do your progression grind by doing the current end game content.

Nothing wrong with a grind, but anymore it's feeling more tedious than before as you almost feel like you have to run every one of those things each and every day often grinding the same content for weeks to months to complete. I can see why many players are starting to feel bored or burnt out, you almost feel like you need to punch into a time clock each and every time you log in.

Thought I'd post these in my thread as well for those that might be curious

For those crazy enough to replay in the first week here's your cost

If you replayed to get just the set of gear excluding OP items you would need to replay the raid 132 times to finish within the first week 132 x 87 is 11,484 replay badges 11,484 replay badges / $10 (350) = 32.81 = x10 = $328.10USD

Including OP gear it would be 304.7 times resetting the raid 26,509 replay badges or $757.40USD

the time involved in resetting using an average 20minutes per raid would be 6,160 minutes /60 = 102.66 hours of running the same raid over and over / 7 = an average of 14.66 hours for the entire week.

I tried to remain positive with this game, I really did. I had ups and downs, things I didn't like and things I did, I tried to voice my opinion in regards to both sides of the coin, but ultimately it's falling on deaf ears and a waste of time.

They already tagged a release date for the dlc, so don't expect any major changes to it. If they do alter the prices I'll be very shocked, maybe it's just my perception, but I feel what we see now is basically what's set in stone.

Easy content with insane costs on gear driven to make people spend mass amounts of replays, time capsule bullcrap, not only that but the dlc is so lack luster in quality and essence that it makes me wonder where all the replay and capsule money is going to. To be frank it's sickening and I'm not going to pretend to support something just to appeal to the public or pretend to act like everything is sunshine and roses on a summer day, because it's far from that. Some people will praise the hell out of everything the devs do and attack anyone that thinks otherwise, for those people, enjoy your favorite game and let others complain. What's perfect to you definitely is not perfect to everyone.

All these threads, well written write ups, complaints, and nothing won't ever get done because the money talks louder then the 1-2% of the population that's active on the forums. So what's the point of voicing concerns anymore? The game is headed down a one way street and you can't turn the car around. Best buckle up and enjoy the ride, unfortunately I jumped out.

Congratulations Proxy, this thread is the home of my last forum post for a long time, maybe ever again. Good luck to everyone who still supports this game and I truly do hope it's bought out of the ashes and fully rejuvenated, but only time will tell.

I know you hate me for saying this, but membership has to be thrown out the window. I told you guys this game seem like it catering to free players and MC.
Ppl called me crazy for it but it seem like it need to happened cause I don't think membership will improve any time soon. I know ppl don't like this idea due to being members for a long time, but there really is no need 4 DBG to enforce membership in end game content due to replays and MC's.

DCUO is taking notes on what other free to play games do to players, but DCUO adds it with membership

I'm guessing the Devs knew there would be outrage at the prices and may account for the short time that its on test.
I wouldn't mind if the size of the DLC was bigger but it appears to be a normal quarterly sized one

I think thats an honest question. But you're not addressing WHY hes concerned ;) And there has clearly been some changes in the last year. Based off what he said in the OP i think its obvious what hes concerned about. Just because hes been concerned a few times does not take away from the validity of those concerns.

one possible solution would be to supplement "larger content" dlcs with a few smaller ones that tie into it.

for example look at AF3. It went live in November of last year. It would have been nice if say we got the equivalent of a "monthly chapter" in february. Could have been a couple of larger scale bounties in typhons monster invasion-tracking down the kind of satyrs and the cockatrice mother and an alert, a sub mission that could have been related to hecate or athena.

the same applies to the upcoming JSA dlc. if its meant to be grinded for seven months it would be nice at say months 3 and 5 we get a little new content set in the golden age with a couple of off shoot missions (and bounties).

granted this involves having to create more new content which the dev team seems incapable of doing but if planned out right it could be a good answer to our problem of impending extreme boredom.

the starro event has a week left to go and i'm done with it. i just cant run that alert and duo anymore. no more running around central city. i dont care about incomplete feats. falling back on af3 content even with the bonus coin weekend is not a viable option either.

with 8 tiers of content i'm extremely overgeared and over powered for i like the idea of content scaling...as an option.

Agreed. I already have multiple friends quitting because of this and other factors that the Devs don't seem to give a damn about.

Currently searching for new games and found a couple but haven't deleted DC yet because I still have a SHRED of hope left for this new DLC and the revamp. Honestly though, if the revamp isn't released within the year I'm gone.
