Passive Buffs to make 2-2-2-2 viable

    Ah, I think you're saying that since both Gust and Avalanche are vulnerable to interrupt, tanking a boss that does melee/lunge combos isn't viable. Gotcha.

    I have never seen anyone on live complain about 2-2-2-2 unless it was a poster from the forums in shout, and that was only 1 player i've seen.

    your joking right? you have never been in a group with two trolls or two heals and have people simply leave because them stating that the group doesnt need two of whatever role and then leave because someone stated that they wanted the 2. i rarly ever pug but I have seen this in many many groups when i did

    The only way i see making 2-2-3-1groups more viable in content is giving all support damage buffs that stack, anything else will probably make the game worse imo.

    However at the same time I cant really use those as examples. The UI in those games allow several mechanics that the current UI in DCUO would simply not allow.

    Everyone says content is the answer to the problem. When clearly we learned that lesson from OC, that content is not the answer.

    And the sole believe that if content requires a balanced group such as 1-1-1-1 or 2-2-2-2 the content is immediately too hard for the masses and must be nerfed.

    Players on the forums beg for more difficult content, however that difficult content cannot be delivered due to this small principal.

    The OP's post was made to combat that. You cant expect people to run 2-2-2-2 in today's gameplay. Nor can you expect people to run 1-1-1-1.

    Even if these buffs were added. Do you think players would flock to their support role to gain such passive buffs. Or do you think players would still stack dps.

    My guess is the latter, but at least that option would still be there.

    I like the idea of a passive buff for the 2 2 2 2 set up. That would definitely encourage people to give it a try. I just don't understand why people are seeing this as a bad thing? We don't have passives buffs in raids as is. So how would this effect those who do not use the 2 2 2 2 set up? I'm just curious to know why does this matter to people now even though we don't have such a thing currently in the game. I have read all 27 pages and still can not see why the opposing side does not want this. Sorry but it anybody on the opposing side are getting frustrated explaining this but I really can't find a way to Argue with the OP. :confused:

    For those who oppose this idea. Please give a list of negative effects from this idea for both 1-1-1-1 and 2-2-2-2 to help give devs a reason not to implement this idea.

    Just triple the weapon Damage per second that support roles can get via drops or vendors.. example: if the standard weapon dmg in DPS role is 600.0 DPS.. Let Support roles have a weapon equivalent 2.5x-3times more in weapon per second. In this case (1500dps-1800dps) while still maintaining the regular support role stats. Its viable for "US" support roles to stay in role during ALERTS, DUOS, and SOLOS...

    PS.. Adding these weapong will not increase precision stats or might stats. So if a DPS equips the Support role weapon, the same thing what would happen now would happen ; a decrease in their MIGHT/PRECISION stats.

    i think what all the noobies are saying is that its unfair that your idea gets a "BUFF" but the they want to play does not get a buff.. Its kind of preferential treatment in a sense if you really take a step back and think about it.. I just personally think ur idea gives developers a lazier way to create content requiring 2-2-2-2 groups.. honestly.. Developers could easily create content that REQUIRE 2-2-2-2 groups..

    EXAMPLE:
    2 bosses,
    • 1 of them is a tank power drainer, everytime that boss is hit with a tank power, it deducts a certain amount of power from tanks power power pool. The other boss, everytime a tank hits him with a tank power, disables the power over time(POT) for that tank. last up to 15secs. (thus requiring 2 trolls. both tanks could still receive the instant power)
    • Having powerful environmental DOTS, along wit ads and bosses would force solo heals to spam power, thus needing a second healer. With an optional 2nd troll if solo troll cannot keep up with heals and tanks.. thats a viable 2-2-2-2 mechanic in itself.
    • Lets use a good stage we have that "COUDLVE" had this setup. HH(happiness home) Using those tools ive placed above devs couldve given STOMPA or lashina any one of those power disabler effects, while Black adam thunder cloud(villain side), Superman(hero side) Freezin breath ABOVE couldve been the Environmental DOTS, with ads coming out of portals still.
    Just needs more creative development.. Dropping random ads here and there, 10mins later boss fight, then run into another location of ads here and then final boss fight is lack of creativity. Once again it all goes back to creative design, every role has to be accounted for when creating content. Most DCUO content is based around burn with the exception of a few that have feats attached to it. Creative designs will force players to stay 2-2-2-2 groups.. We as players 5-1-1-1 because the design of the raid doesnt call for it. We seen a glimpse of that 2-2-2-2 when Throne of the dead was introduced. Try running throne elite feat with no one dying(deathproof) as 5-1-1-1 and see what happens. Creative Support role content is whats missing. NO DISRESPECT DEVS I LOVE ALL OF YOU GUYS. #SupportROLESMatter

    I do 2222 and 2231 raid runs with my league quite often. My outside league gotos are okay with that too. I suppose if they are a goto, they are not a pug.

    The thing about that is the developers HAVE built content around the idea of running it 2-2-2-2. See an earlier reply for how I picked apart A&B explaining why it's the perfect 2-2-2-2 raid.

    Also, Nexus of Reality is also a 2-2-2-2 raid, too. Even going as far as positioning the bosses in the final room in an ideal position for 1 tank to pull the main boss and another tank to pull the 2 phased bosses.

    With the exception of Nexus for the first few weeks, neither of these raids were ran by 2-2-2-2 groups.

    Halls of Hades has a boss fight with the Forge Master, who half way through spawns 3 adds that attack random players based on whom the Forge Master selects. The idea being that 2 Tanks keep the aggro and focus on them instead of the group, but again, gear and technique enabled players to completely ignore these mechanics and run with an imbalanced group composition.

    There's enough evidence to support the fact that design alone can't encourage balanced groups. That doesn't mean they shouldn't do cool mechanics that keep things entertaining and give purpose to roles, but it also doesn't mean that it will resolve the horrible 5-1-1-1 situation either, as ultimately our CR is increasing rapidly and making older content easier every single month. At best, you buy a month by focusing on mechanics.

    At this stage in the game, 2-2-2-2 just needs buffed so that you aren't disadvantaged by running that formation. I hope the damage buff to support roles helps, but I'm not convinced it will because like you pointed out, people will only bring what is absolutely necessary to content and a high damage Tank/Healer/Controller isn't going to be selected over a DPS.

    Actually the Bard is the closest to a controller in FFXIV.
    and they can dish out the hurt when providing power.

    If you stack 4 dps in a raid vs 2 good ones you ARE buffing the damage put out vs 2 at the cost of safety for time saved. So you ARE already buffed.

    Faulty logic here. Nothing prevents you from running as this setup.
    What is the point of 2 controllers in a raid?

    Giving any short of buffs to this setup will only "force" people to run as such. Now you have a choice.

    Here is the most disturbing fact. In ToD elite you needed 3 tanks. So it is not a balanced group. Therefore you lose the buffs. Now if this proposal takes place DPSs will be making lets say x2 dmg in this setup than any other as part of the buff. So when the buffs are lost you will lose 75% of the dmg..how do you think that will work out?

    Again explain the reasons behind having 2 trolls in the new elite raid, or 2 healers? You don't even need a tank for the last boss.

    The problem isn't : how we run content, but the content we run.

    You are trying to "fix" the wrong thing. It will only result in disaster.
