I don't know why people have said no new powers. The Dev's never said that in the past. It appears that it is easier to put powers into the game than weapons. Powers have very few specific animations. These animations can be re-used over and over again, with minimal memory loss. Weapons on the other hand, require specific animations and design.

Soooo my dream of an Atomic tank is possible...you just made this day of jury duty better.

If by "educate" you mean "introduce characters that no one knows of" , I don't see what's wrong with that at all. We have plenty of posts in this thread saying "have never heard of darkseid" etc.

I always liked seeing new characters I had never heard of. I really liked it when I found out they had a past to read about. Old characters returning was always better than seeing newly invented made-up characters.

Old characters that are new to me have depth and history to read about. Usually they are being brought back because there was something cool about them that caught the writer's eye.

New characters often end up as 1-offs because they're crap. That's the nature of comics, it's a reductive process like evolution. Thousands fo characters are created. 1/2 of them end up 1-offs never heard of again. Only the greatest characters, ones with some sublime combination of archtypical elements last 75 years in a monthly-episode medium to become the most recognized fictional characters in the history of man.

Other-media adaptations of comics going to the same tired well of minimum numbers of majorest characters is one of the worst problems that plagues the genre. It not only lacks creativity but insults the audience making the assumption that they won't be interested in deeper more complex characters.

I have thought DCUO has done a pretty darn good job of including varied characters, lesser known but very interesting characters. Thus far. I really hope DevTeam can pull out all the stops for what should be the most epic Episode in DCUO History!

just to clarify, i was paraphrasing Spytle from a post a month or two ago, what he meant and what I was trying to express is not that new characters should never be introduced to the game, rather that well established and popular characters have and should have priority.

Entertaining through comic characters not educating about comic characters, that's what he said and I agree. I mean it's the reason we have had so much Batman content and only 1 Catman appearance the whole game.

i also did not imply that this game should introduce new even new to comics characters, I don't know where you got that from in my post, but it certainly wasn't a point I wanted to make.

Sure there are people who don't know who darkseid is, but man, really show me more proof that the Forevers are more popular than him outside comics. In another post i mentioned all the merchandise and media Darkseid has appeared in. I could post pics of everything but i don't think i's necessary, is it? Everything from posters, keychains, backpacks, t-shirts, cups, cupholders, animated movies, a ton of episodes in animated series and 7 video games!

Google Darkseid and you get over 6 million hits, google "Forever People" (with the quotes as to reduce all reference to people in general) and you get 278k hits. I know it's not scientific, but it's much more proof than anyhting you've presented until now.

No one is arguing their importance to the New Gods themes in comics, and I think most of us, excluding Spytle would like to see them in the game somehow, but trying to minimize the important of Darkseid is quite incomprehensible in my mind. Darkseid is so popular he inspired one of Marvel's most popular villains as well (Thanos).

Even if we restrict ourselves to just the game's community if you've been following player requests, a Darkseid DLC was the most frequent request for a new dlc. The search fucntion isn't great so I won't ask you to try to find a request for a Forever people dlc, but i can guarantee there weren't even 1/3 as numerous.

Ok, so by looking back on how Spytle likes to words things I am assuming that we will have the female Forager from Countdown to Final Crisis since ("he" wont appear) and then the dlc will somehow utilize parts of the storylines from Countdown thru Final Crisis along with some classic Kirby stuff as well. (Pure speculation though on my part.)

All that is true. I know the Forevers aren't well known and I know that in a video-game size of the npc cast is at a pemium.

It's not so much that the Forevers that are important to a DLC it's to try to have as big a cast of characters as possible. A New Gods DLC is not a (just)Darkseid DLC.

Darkseid is given character depth particularly by his minnions. He's not hands-on guy. He's deploying one of his colorful subordinates to do his bidding. This is how almost all New Gods stories work. It's about all the things that all the minor player do. Darkseid raqrely does any aactions himself. Highfather really doesn't take action even more than Darkseid.

Of course the best known ones take priority, but with the NewGods more than any other, a big cast is so very integral to the theme. Similar but even more true than with the GL Corps. Mogo would have been crappy without all the Lanterns we know and love flying around.

That's all we comic fans need I think. Just to get as many NewGods hanging around as possible. Similar to the iconic Lanterns on Mogo. Non-comic fans didn't know who those less-known Lanterns were either but for comic fans that's what makes the DLC great.

The Forever People are lesser knowns but they are near to the heart of fans of Kirby and the 4th World. All these characters are. I just hope we get to see as many as possible. I hope the devs can put some emphasis on getting many non-lamestream characters at least a tiny bit of an appearance even as vendors or flying around talking like the GLs do.

There's also this forager. I assume the more recent one is the same bug-person in fancy new armor.
