Overgeared players are RUINING this game!

He's wishing to enjoy the game and not watch others enjoy it for him lol. I have multiple t6 characters and while his opening was abrasive as crap, his issue is legitimate. The fact is all of the lower content that we got to enjoy when it was new is no longer enjoyable b/c ppl don't get to fight or do it properly anymore with the over-geared ppl. How many ppl do you know that started in the last year actually know that the first boss of outer will actually put a shield up if he's not dead instantly. How many ppl do you know that started in last year knows how the fight with jor-el in fos 2 really works or that has any idea about how the first boss of fos 2 works. The first boss of fos 2 is very complicated with many mechanics to him but very few ppl now days even know the most simple of them like to block after his teleport lol.

The over geared ppl do ruin the fun and experience to the lower content and last i checked most ppl play video games primarily for fun and not to get some meaningless digital item.

EDIT: i would like to add that finding properly geared players (low enuff cr) to run it with is a unreasonably hard task. I've attempted it. After 5 hours of unsuccessfully trying get ppl i said screw it and queued up.

I only have to do T1/3 raids once and alerts/duos and challenges a little bit more than 3/6 before moving to the next Tier,
Some guys make it way too easier and then there are times when it's a complete failure,

T4 gives me more headaches as i hadn't got HoF nor HT so i could only do T4 Alerts and i could tell it was one of the greatest tests of courage, sure i could just ask to be carried but i rather PUG and it was well worth an experience,

has anyone noticed the OP hadn't made a single Reply? he DID make the post early in the morning so might be around later or tomorrow,

Most of the time this threads start with huge BIAS and you can tell just by looking in Title, "RUINING this game!"
instead of "Running MY Game" which could be more aqurate and still it is biased because i'm just blaming the outside rather than "Improving my Game"

There is no question "How can i have a more challenging and educational run if i someone just rush in the content depriving me of valuable experience...?" that could be addresed by the community,

And then, after 18 messages and a who knows how many years of absence one provides the "Absolute Solution to the problem i unanimously Decided that existed"

I invite people to read, acknowledge and follow 10 simples rules to Arguing and things will go smoothly,
    https://forums.station.sony.com/dcu...and-refuting-10-commandments-of-logic.208702/

Any idea can be properly assesed/argued by including this guidelines and the Overall experience will be more Rewarding,

    And regarding the real problem:
Clavain proposed a wonderful solution, one that i also had in mind when i first read the OP thread, I would certainly like to know how possible is to "CAP Gear Stats while allowing SP stats" to work,
That would recognize experience technique and challenge as an all important part of the gameplay, while providing a possible technichal solution to be discused,
Should it be not possible, the current situation is by no mean, in my opinion, something that cannot be solved by other means: LFG, League and Friends
A more practical player would insepect armories, see performance and befriend similar gear level guys so they can interact,

I consider many times the lack of social interaction as the root of many problems in enjoying DCUO mechanichs, and would also believe is something more challenging on the PS/side; but that's only my opinion

With every new alt though content gets easier even being UnderGeared,

My thoughts exactly, well sort of,

What do you think of Claivan proposal?

SOE should ban overgeared players from what they want to play, you know the ones who buy replays, armories, legendary memberships
    YEAH GOOD IDEA ya schmuck

Sorry but it sounds to me like the OP is whining a bit. If he wants a challenge, use LFG, put together your group, and then go. Just like everyone else because it's the way it has been since the game launched. As it is, with the ability to purchase feat points now in place, just because you're running with someone who has the same level gear as you doesn't mean they're not overpowered for the runs they're in. Based on that alone, the OP's statements are invalid and need re-evaluation.

Sorry, just shaking my head again.

For the last year or so, we've seen numerous threads about how the ease of leveling up new toons is "ruining the game", how WM is "ruining the game", how nerfs, buffs, power revamps, and just about anything in the game is "ruining" it.

    To the OP,
If you're worried that an overpowered player will enter an instance with you, form a group without one instead of just cuing up. Easiest solution.
If you expect overgeared players to NEVER run lower level content, good luck. Far too many players run up their CR via gear and skipping content. They don't even care about feats until they realize it affects their WM and start going back to lower level content for the SP.

It's a part of the PUG life...you get what you get.

Using LFG only gets you high tier players most times. It's been tested, and the generic response that you and many others have given to that effect has been proven to be bad advice in these situations. Making friends or finding leaguemates at the same CR or close is the best advice for running lower content if players want a challenge.

Players who go into LFG and ask for TIer 2 or lower geared players still end up with tells saying, "99 CR DPS for Ace Chemicals" and/or they take abuse for "limiting" themselves. Many players in the community seem to misunderstand these players looking for a challenge. Players also misinterpret what the player is asking for and assume the player wants higher tiered players to make it easier, not the other way around.

If you do not believe the above, I suggest you try to get a low tier group together through LFG and see how it works out for you. It's not as easy as it seems. Keep in mind: new players don't know how to use LFG, or chat for that matter, so they queue.

It's not over geared players that ruin low tier content, it's players with bad attitudes. Whether you're CR 40 or 106, rushing ahead and disregarding you're team always has it's negatives.

You know the types. The CR 56 DPS that runs ahead and gets downed over and over again. Or my personal favorites, the CR 106 DPS, or Troll, that locks the team out of boss fights. Lots of jerks out there.

I think It's a iffy idea. It's make sense in a big way but i really think it requires a "walk in" of some sort for all end game content to be a good idea. Someone mentioned there should be 2 different forms of queueing up for stuff. 1 method like now but with stat caps and then one method that doesn't get you random ppl and you only go in with whoever's in your group but with no stat caps. I like this idea.

    A couple of things:
1-NO, Op players aren't ruining the game, if anything it's the people asking for Op players in LFG for T2 and T3 content, If I had a penny for every post I've seen of someone looking for CR 90 for FOS 2 or CR 104 for Inner T4, with the sorry excuse of a speed feat, I'd have enough to cover my sub for months. Don't blame Op players for entering content they where invited to, if they chose to one an everything then let them, besides you still get marks from the whole thing. Also you are open to leave and make a new Un-Op group of your own.
2-The FF XIV solution has one big problem, unlike there where you see all adds on the same level as the content specifies, in here nothing is at the same level the game says. For example In test they've started to show NPC real level, and to my surprise every add in Ace and Strikers is above lvl 90, yet all that content is made for CR 70, same situation happens in alerts and raids. So unless the devs readjusted every NPC level to our own, and by that I don't mean to make it easier but to make a lever closer to what we actually need to do the content then doing the FFXIV thing just isn't a plausible solution.
3-Every player now has the ability to be Op in hours, there are more ways to get gear now than ever, mods at vendors, and now a full set with weapons and extras included. I can easily make a new toon, raise it to CR 105 without using replay in a week or two, just by using the tools devs game me (give I am legendary so results may vary for others).

I have a lot of lower tiered friends that ask me to run my 104cr 138sp Rage DPS through their content to make sure they get all of the feats from the Raids, Duos, and Alerts. I teach them how to do everything properly (ie the mechanics if they were running with people as geared as them). Sadly, the T6 content is small and I have been Legendary for almost 2.5 years, so I play content that I'm overgeared for just to get rare style pieces or styles for other roles. I just switched from Nature to Rage and getting tank gear for feats is awesome.

It's not our fault that you left for a year, and if you leave for another year you will be even further behind. You're better off sticking it out and getting geared now, because the Real T6 gear will make us even better at burning through the content.
  12. Skyfairy New Player

Without a doubt the best solution to this "problem" would be allow us to queue into content solo (or with current group). That option would be one of the best features ever added to the game.

106 cr dps looking to carry people to the FOS2 speed feat. PST to mercenary blues on the hero side for help with this feat.

Funny. I do it enough times to know that it can work. I do it with T2 raids and request specifically low CR people. It takes a while to get the group together but it works. The issue at hand is that the OP is saying that overgeared players are ruining his need for challenge and while that may be true to a certain extent, it is still, in my eyes, whining. If I can level up a character from 1-30 and get to CR 53+ in 9-12 hours without buying feats because I understand how the game mechanics work, I could be the next thing he complains about.

The OP is complaining because he wants a challenge. Well, the challenge isn't being spoiled because of overgeared players in as much as it is being spoiled because people spend too much time complaining about the things they don't like. The other issue I have with this is that the OP hasn't really given any sort of solution with his complaint as though the developers can or should do something about his dilemma. There are other issues far greater in this game that they could and should address over this and I would think this is more of an issue to be resolved within our community of players rather than escalating to them anyway.

One can say that my initial response was a generic one but LFG was put into place for everyone to use; it is not the developers' fault that lower tier players can't or won't use it the same way that higher tier players do.

I haven't seen a tip yet on the loading screen describing the LFG and chat system. Did I miss it?

Also, you haven't been given grief for trying to put a lower tier group together made up fully of players below a certain CR? You're a lot luckier than I was when I tried it as an experiment. I was called names that cannot be repeated on these forums when I attempted to set a max CR.

What about a cap of about 1 or 2 tiers above, T3 guys can't solo T1 raids but still help and build team effort, and i still think at least one t5 guy is appreciated in FOS2 due to the lack of statistical competitiveness

Don't think the NO-Team behavior can be addresed the same though,
    CR 90 FOS 2 = LOL :p
CR 104 for Inner T4

"So unless the devs readjusted every NPC level to our own, and by that I don't mean to make it easier but to make a lever closer to what we actually need to do the content then doing the FFXIV thing just isn't a plausible solution".
So may i say that, if that weren't the issue, Capping would be acceptable right?

"So unless the devs readjusted every NPC level to our own, and by that I don't mean to make it easier but to make a lever closer to what we actually need to do the content then doing the FFXIV thing just isn't a plausible solution".

"I can easily make a new toon, raise it to CR 105 without using replay in a week or two, just by using the tools devs game me"
    Ive notice
Since you mentioned, T4 Alert Inner was a torture while PUGing :( but then bought my first set, got some experience and suddenly i could finish it almost every time,

6 runs (complete) of Inner, 10 or so All T3 (except Courthouse, that was only if daily challenge) Gates and Walked of Prime (have no idea how we beat it ...) and then just reach t5...

As you say is too easy,

Now i can 1 up every T1/2 instances but it's not as rewarding (as experience) as it once was, no sense of accomplishment, so i would like capping and, while easier, i would feel superb with displaying of skills, now i see a pterodactyl and throw a bomb on him problem solved

And then not enough room for gear, so... that's why i think Capping would be the best and even help those newcomers who were walked/carried to polish their skill with little dificulty
  18. Fel1x90 New Player

Suggesting inexperienced players to form their own groups is laughable.

Alot of them don't even know how to use the lfg chat or don't know that it even exist.

The only solution i see is to give players the option to solo queue the instances.

Would it have helped if, instead of Max CR, you make it as a challenge, "So who feels a Beast with his new Alt, wanna try a Low CR/SP Challenge and see how far you get..." in your own words of course
