right now im modded full precision, but starting to think about going to a more balanced play. what are some other earth dpss opinions?
Yeah, the assumption, because of the aftershock system, is that Earth is a precision-based powerset, like HL and Celestial (and to a lesser extent Rage). That's not the case. The only go-to precision damaging ability is Jackhammer (Upheaval is too slow), and the more you use it, the more power it drains. Jackhammer spam is simply not a good DPS strategy. The rest of the better damage abilities are all might-based. I'd go balanced, as Stem recommended, or even with a might lean. Don't forget that you can use Reinforce to buff your precision.
Yeah np lol. Just note that it was taken before 90 Gear and PD, so you might have to make some personal adjustments.
I never understood why Reinforce would buff your Precision when Earth is clearly more Might based. It needs to be a Might buff like Dark Pact from Celestial.
i guess i would ask , do you use your powers to enchance your weapon atks, and/or is the purpose to top the charts or stay competitive ? heres what i mean. for me, reinforce is up all the time ( when possible ), i have crystal out as well ( my dot, so to speak ) . i use totem, but really just as a pi for crystal, the dot dmg of totem is just a bonus . i use shards, but just to "push" targets into that grenade volly range thing rifle does, again, that shards dmg is just a bonus. i usually follow with sandblast, really just for 50% dmg mod if reinforce is on cool down. the damage sandblast does, along with home turf empowered channeling mod, is all just a bonus. gemstone shield fills my loadout. i will typically use this as much as possible, reinforce, rifle roll, gemstone shield. the gemstone shield dmg is precision and can hit for decent dmg. i am very rarely without the 50% dmg modifier up, and usually rolling into/ out of mid range while rifle is blasting away. I never top the charts, but have never been booted for poor dps. my typical dmg out /power in ratio is between 15 - 20: 1. i have modded all precision or prec/somthing else for blue & yellow , use rifle, make use of static grenade 5 exp and try to use crushing consumable whenever i use shards. basically my powers are used to "support " rifle use. if you are looking to top the charts, then plz ignore my post.
Yeah, it really only helps Jackhammer (and Upheaval, yuck), as well as weapon attacks. A might buff would be better.
