How is it that money is not being made with PVP? The marketplace doesn't have PVP/PVE. Time capsules don't have them either. Where exactly are Devs seeing a difference in the money PVE vs PVP? Where is the lively discussion thread I'm not in?

pvp not broken. Every game had different systems for pvp and over. Some powers are bad and some powers are good but that literally every game. In open world every power is good but it’s extremely pay to win. People complain about pvp but if you go to lil boh people are pvping all day. It’s not a dev issue. It’s a community issue and people choose to complain about things that aren’t broken

This is so incorrect on every level imaginable. PvP IS broken for many different reasons. Reason one, PvP gear is obsolete. No game with PvP content should EVER have its specific gear vastly surpassed but its PvE counterpart while engaging in combat with real players. That's completely unacceptable and proves even more that PvP gear should be constantly updated to keep up with content and character CR. Reason two, power abilities are spammable. This completely takes timing and skill out of the equation when everyone can continously cast power abilities from their skill tray without using their weapons in PvP combat. It's actually pretty ridiculous. Reason three, unblockable combo powers. Having all the combo powers unblockable in general has hurt PvP and made an unfair advantage to allow combo powers to do whatever they want without getting punished or vulnerable to counters. This was a terrible idea and proved that the revamp was really only with PvE in mind and not PvP and its community. Reason four, open world PvP is a nightmare because Artifacts and Allies give insane stat boosts and special effects that make fights last way too long or you die way too fast, there's no balance. Artifacts and Allies will forever be the worst decision that's ever happened to this game. I remember how FUN this game use to be. The fifth and last reason is because of lack of PvP rewards and progression. They added no new goal for people to strive for to grind out PvP content. Make Omnipotent PvP gear with stats that surpass PvE by two episodes and see how many people ready up for PvP matches. It’s supply and demand. They put out impress PvP gear that only a few people have at a time and it becomes a must have. So don't you ever say PvP is fine the way it is or it's the community's fault.

The problem you don't see is that this game, and many others, are in the category free-to-play. Thus, soliciting the players for any amount of money is an ethical issue. What this looks like is a case of - can't fix because of free-to-play ethics involved.

Oh, the halcyon days of yore, when open world pvp was emergent gameplay, a chance to make enemies into friends, to hone one's craft among a kind community and blue glacier. We can't go back, only forward. ...so much has changed in-game and in life. I may never wish to cross swords in an era of bravado and drive-bys, but I can sure as hell style all over these punks.

For me, fashion is the new pvp and y'all gettin' wrecked

Perhaps the biggest problem with PVP is how the stat scaling/clamping works, if someone has significantly higher than you the difference is often still insurmountable (Deleted in one shot)

There needs to be at least some room for someone less statted and more skilled to prevail. (Talking of course about normal pvp with our actual characters)

Nobody is going to "fix" PvP for you - whatever people imagine that would look like - because PvPers have always been the worst kind of DCUO players - angry, insecure children, slinging racist and homophobic slurs at each other for using a soder, or whatever, crying for nerfs because some power beat them, ganking weaker players, or using speed-hacks and exploits in order to spoil the fun for everyone. It's not an accident, that the devs don't care to have more of this kind of behavior around, especially, that PvPers don't tend to spend money - because they don't have any and/or because they don't want to lose it when their accounts get banned for what I described above.

There is a way. It's called PvP Arenas (not PvP Legends). You play as your actual character, but there are no artifacts, PvE gear, mods, or trinkets there, so you can't just front-load all your Orbitals, pets, combat allies, 10k SC, et cetera, and hope to get lucky. What kids call PvP nowadays is just BS - HOL duels in PvE gear, where everyone is just trying to one-shot each other, with no actual PvP skills, like countering, needed.

If you insist on doing open world PvP, then you and others, who want to do it, can go to one of the old open world maps, which are actually clamped - unlike HOL, Metro, Gotham, or latest episodes - so that everyone's CR/stats are scaled to roughly the same level.

Of course - most "PvPers" nowadays don't want to play in Arenas, or on clamped maps, because they can't PvP and just want cheese.

I'd rather pvp gear not even be a thing. It's a mistake to design a game in a way where you need such a thing.
Gear should be gear and stats should be effective in both pvp and pve.

Most (Almost all) games with successful pvp these days have one of two aspects. Either they eliminate stat and gear disparity completely in PVP scenarios relying on build/loadout and skill, or they are designed as PVP first from the very start, with asymmetric gameplay (EVE Online)

Since nobody plays PVP anymore, the dev's start focusing on fixing what else that's wrong with player satisfaction. Why then is someone always calling for the shutdown of the PVP server? PVE'ers should be very satisfied right now. Why aren't they?
  11. LowFlyingMoon Loyal Player

Lol... Who is "calling for the shutdown of the PVP server"? There is no PvP server. Only PvP phases - almost always empty - which are on the same servers as PvE ones, so there's nothing to "shut down".
  12. right Active Player

PVP phase is on the same server as PVE phase?
  13. right Active Player

Why can't we switch phase from the map?
  14. right Active Player

So, the devs decided to only allow switching between PVE and PVP phases from the phase switchers just to bother players?

  16. LowFlyingMoon Loyal Player

Yes. That's why your toons can switch between PvE and PvP phases. USPC/PS and EUPC/PS are separate servers, so your US toons can't play on EU server and vice versa.
  17. LowFlyingMoon Loyal Player

No. They could make it possible to switch to PvP phase from the map, but they probably don't want new players to switch to PvP phase by accident and get ganked by some insecure children, or immature griefers/trolls, looking for weaker players to harass. That's what used to happen a lot years ago, when you could choose to start a new character in PvP phase, so many new players did it without knowing what that meant and were unable to even do starting missions, because PvP a-holes were waiting for them. Now there is no PvP option during character creation and the devs are not bothering with making switching to PvP phase easy.

If you are the kind of person, who needs to make somebody pay for all those years of being beaten in the school-yard - you have to go to WT/HOD to switch to an empty PvP phase, which is just another way for the devs to tell you, that you're not welcome in DCUO.

You have said what everyone one who is against PVP says. New players will hate it.
