No More Support Roles For PVP

i dont know that i agree because how i view it is I can hit almost as hard as a DPS especially with all resto prec mods and can also heal my self granted not as well as before but still more than they can as a DPS. so there is still a advantage there since most damage in PVP comes from weapon damage anyway. i could be wrong but I seem to have pretty good success healing.

to be honest I normally in 2v2's and 4v4's like arkham were im by my self on a node so I cant be called a strict healer for PVP more of a murder that can heal and out last most DPS :D

Against players of equal or greater skill, how do you fare?
Granted I know we hit really hard now as healers, but in competitive PvP, im having a bit of a hard time keeping up.

from only one day I cant give a full picture yet but I hold my own much the same as before the update. from dueling people Im used to fighting like friends and league mates I tend to do the same, we tend to go back and forth as usual since we never used trinkets and such in duels anyway. we run out of power faster but not a huge diffrence in fight ability. I'll have to chime back in over after the weekend when ive had more time to get in a ton of matches

Usually I would fight other Celestials to get a better idea of how to be effective.
I know it's an unusual method but I find it to be a good way to refine approach.
I fought a total of 40 matches last night on pc iding my friend's toon.
I won more often than lost but it was a chore to keep up.
survivability is the biggest issue for me. I cant take on 7 people at once lol.
I die easy if that's the case

This is excellent news!!!! The pve side already caters to dps only, and now this is just another way to show balance. Hope they make support rolls even more irrelevant on the pve side! Great ideas as always devs!!!!

as do we all when over whelmed :) ... I know before the update I could hold down a node by my self against several average opponents no problem. but if you had one too many you get in trouble or that one exceptional troll would show up and just wreck your world. I'm very interested in seeing how I can hold up now with the reduced heals. I think i should be ok because this last season I had personally handicapped my self to heal in DPS gear modded for healing. because i knew single role gear was coming in the future and wanted to get use to it so the new gear is going to dramatically increase my PVP resto so I don't think Im going to feel the sting of the reduction as much as some healers

I love what this update did for my mental troll in pvp. I can finally make use of my debuffs and my pot tick is unable to be removed. Plus the damage is nice too.

Controllers are perfect. I think we're at a great level where we are now. I can provide power, but im not hampered by crazy reductions.

Healers and Tanks need work. I felt bad for our Nature healer last night. God bless her little heart she tried here damnedest to keep me alive, but the healing out decrease is just too large for anyone to make a real impact, especially for the power cost.

Tanks have it rough too. I took out 3.5 years of frustration on every Ice tank I saw last night. Too much damage penetration on shields for them to continue to run them.

I said this in the feedback thread, but a 15-20% increase in healing out as well as 50% damage mitigation on Tank shields (as well as a buff to other unique tank mechanics) is the least that should be done. Healers and Tanks were monsters before, but this is way too far.

That's the thing. My issue isn't the healing. It's power. I use my weapon often too. It's the further vulnerabilities that Celestial sufferers from.
a lot of the stuns were taken from it so it's an adaptation period for me. :)
And I can hold up pretty well even against a troll. I was a hybrid in PvP lol. But I will say that the flexibility has increased for the DPS side so that's a good thing :)
my resto wasn't bad and precision wasn't either lol. Still, compared to healers like Dolfo, Soulmass, JEEBIE, Yallander, etc.. I still paled in comparison.

What I thought was funniest was watching my healers power bar go down and the health bar barely move. Savage growth, metabolism and blossom should have me in a place where I'm still stable, but with just 2 people on me, I was toast.

I think that the damage out is maybe slightly too high, but for the most part fine because of the crit cap. I think that our health bars (for non tanks at least) are fine and a good way to offset the damage we are taking in. Those 2 things alone result in arenas that are far more balanced and fun then they were a week ago, but there are still small tweaks that need to be taken. Healing needs to be increased, especially if power costs are going to remain as high as they are.

lol yea soul used to wreck me even when i was quantum but I haven't fought him in a really long time and never since i went electric. but he is definitely a good PVP'r Carlynn with that staff is brutal also. a great pair in 2s.
but I totally agree with the power issue I noticed I was running out much much faster last night and I try to be pretty conservative in matches. Hell on my nature character on the hero side if I cast savage growth and metabolism there went half your bar, thats way to much power for such small heals and he is actually wearing full healer gear
  13. Sage-Rapha Steadfast Player

    Lol. Exactly :p

Ironically enough those powers you stated were the ones that were hit the hardest.
blossom and bloom should not be that power hungry. Savage growth needs a 35% Power reduction and a 15% healing increase to increase stability and survival. Vine lash is suffering too with the pheromones and poisons.

The other powers except Celestial and Nature are power friendly from what I saw.
The damage I agree on completely. Tanks also need some love. I shouldn't be able to absolutely render a tank useless.

Yeah. I miss fighting him though. He's on a break :(
Carlynn destroys everything. She used 1 handed on me lol. I almost got her twice but after that she said no holding back. Fireburst and absorb heat w/WM then I was out for count.
And yes. Way too much risk for no reward

Barely hit 50%? I saw a mental character throw up Bastion about three times in one pvp match earlier. It was one heck of a pain when trying to stop them from carrying the thing in the safehouse since they were throwing the thing up constantly and it made them unstoppable.
  16. Xinthus Active Player

I can agree with this one. I feel so gimped now in pvp. It's sad that shields on trollers seem to hold up tons better than anything I have now.

Support roles are the only way to go.

You get all the damage of a DPS and the added function of whatever power type you are.

No your not going to keep everyone alive, that was the intent but a group of four healers us not a damage disadvantage.

Something tells me you will routinely see "support roles" on top the leader board upcoming, PvP anyways.

Tanks, the census are gold plus the damage.

Trolls, power back, everything is CC requiring breakout, plus the damage.

    Heals, heals plus the damage.

Yeah, just running DPS for group content, bit the smartest play.

Getting better with this update but I still hate PVP in this game.

It's nothing but a one handed dual wield cc fest, while there are some that like this count me in the crowd of gear and feats and see you next season for the same.

I ran as hybrid Tank with half and half gear and mods, and I did great, I would've preferred to be Full tank but I was troll before then. And I was really looking forward to this update but idk it's just not fun anymore, everyone's a DPS and I can't survive like I used to. :(

Example before I would pop Remorseless Recovery do damage and survive for a while if they weren't all too skilled. If they were at my level my health wouldn't stay at full that's for sure.
Now I feel obligated to use both Relentless Anger and Remorseless Recovery since I can't stay alive long enough.

I'll get used to it, until then it's a frustrating DPS WM CC Fest because players feel that finding bugs to use to their advantage makes them better.

Whoever thinks support roles can't get it done still is gravely mistaken.
