No Doom Patrol? No Outsiders? No Watchmen? We need new team episodes

I'm hoping that with next episode being Dakota/Milestone and in the past we've gotten Legion of Superheroes and Justice League Dark that we'll get more team content than just JLA and Titans. I feel Doom Patrol and Watchmen are on people's much requested list. I think more JSA and Suicide Squad/Task Force X content is also nice too. With the recent Shazamily episode and the Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Superman, Batman and Aquaman content we got we haven't really gone back to Lantern stuff in awhile. DCUO not having Batman and the Outsiders episode is really a shame. We just got Metamorphosis introduced we need more Black Lightning love and the other Outsiders. Any other teams I've missed?

I'm kinda surprised they haven't done the Convergence storyline considering it's all brainiac.

Watchmen could've easily been attached to the last episode too.

I'm assume that we're going full-on Milestone characters....

I was a little letdown with the Legion dlc... Aside from a few villains, we really only associated with 4 heroes.

Doom Patrol would be cool. They might avoid the too "surreal" aspect of the team for this game.

It seem like we're doing Dark Crisis after Shock Treatment.... Maybe after that the "lighter" dlc would be the follow up/tie-in: Future State.. and new characters and teams that come with that.

I know Justice League and Titans are the big money makers of merchandise but I feel we as a community get more life in the game when they do lesser known but fan favorite characters.

Outlaws. We already have half the members, just need Red Hood and Arsenal.

As long as they don't do...

I don't know if they can do Watchmen. There could be a weird licensing thing with them. I feel that we would have seen them in by now if they could. They even built a model of the New 52 Captain Atom as well as the model they already had of him. So it's possible they just can't right now.

If this is a wishlist, there are so many teams or focuses I'd love to see.

We could have the Justice League International. They already have Fire, Booster Gold, Captain Atom, Power Girl, Guy Gardner, Captain Marvel, Batman, Mister Miracle, Big Barda, Black Canary, Red Tornado, Martian Manhunter, and Flash in the game. They would just need to do a model of Ted Kord Blue Beetle, Ice, Rocket Red, and maybe Elongated Man and Sue as well to the game and just make some zany fun DLC. :)

I always felt that this game having such a diverse level of heroes, JLI made a lot of sense over the core Justice League.

You can have all that after I get my Section 8 episode. Maybe I'll get a Dogwelder outfit for the tenth anniversary of my request...in June.

As far as I'm concerned priority should go to the Doom Patrol. Danny the Street as an open world map and instance map. The Animal Vegetable Mineral Man as a giant open world boss. Scissormen and men from Nowhere ads and raids versus the brotherhood of Evil and one where you go into Crazy Janes underground.

After that I want the Super Pets (Ace, Krypto and Streaky).

I always wonder how much licensing comes into play. Also it seemed like they tried to follow what was coming out, movie-wise a bit as well. However, I would love for them to branch out. Doom Patrol, L.E.G.I.O.N, Omega Men, etc.

Personally I am not interested in Watchmen because I don't really like that they rolled that into the mainstream DCU. That story ended, they should have left it alone. Not to mention, staying true to the characters wouldn't lend them well to this game.

Regardless I am super glad they are doing Dakota City! great to see them branch out and I am hoping they do it justice.

What about the Legends of Tomorrow?

That and Black Lightning were 2 things I've been suggesting for years.

Basically anything that doesn't focus on the same 5-0 JLA characters. Mind you, I know why they do...those are characters the public know, and they are trying to draw them in. But as things like GoTG showed, the public can love some of the weirdest parts of comics, so why not embrace them?

To cover a few mentioned there:

Doom Patrol: Could be good actually, as long as it sticks to their usually "what the hell is going on" theme.

The Outsiders: Not out of the question, but a bit too soon to be thinking of this. Batman created The Outsiders, and unfortunately our Batman is no longer with us (RIP). I'd prefer if that was looked into in 2024 or something out of respect.

Watchmen: Not a hope. For 2 big reasons. Firstly, because there's no real story there to tell. Secondly because Doomsday Clock is considered the closest thing to a sequel to Watchmen, and in the 30 years between releases, every other DC writer turned down the opportunity to attempt a sequel. A DCUO Episode is unfortunately too short to tell a proper Watchmen story anyway. Considering DCUOs gameplay is 99% "punch this", and Watchmen was a deconstruction of that entire way of thinking of Comics and heroes, it doesn't match. The only real excuse I've seen for people wanting a Watchmen Episode is literally just so the Watchmen team is in the game. That's not really good enough.

JSA: 100%. They honestly haven't had enough exposure in the game. Jay Garrick once said that although the world looks to Superman and Wonder Woman for inspiration, the JSA is who inspires those Superheroes themselves. It unfortunately doesn't feel like that yet.

Suicide Squad: Might be on the "to-do" list with Rocksteadys game release already. If the story was good then yeah I wouldnt mind a go at this.

Lanterns: They honestly fall into the same category as Superman and Batman for me. Already enough there. We can go to Mogo and a Lantern filled Metropolis. There was already the "Levelling" Lantern missions. Larfleeze at Xmas. Sapphires (sometimes) in February. A break away from them would be nice.

Milestone: Not exactly excited about it but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. The interesting thing to see is whether the DCUO writers were allowed to pen their own story, or if it was restricted to just copy/paste something from the past or Season 1. The Dakotaverse only just became part of the DC Universe since Dark Crisis Big Bang #1 so there's not exactly any current stories to pull from.

Personally, I would love an episode or why not a trilogy about the first members of the JSA and their adventures (a trilogy that could start from the first members to the most recent ones maybe?) with a DLC in this 40's style. Well, there are already a lot of styles, but this time why not offer the real faithful styles? As we now manage to have more and more faithful styles, it would be nice to have the 100% original styles, see the JSA HQ (the interior) with the mythical round table it would be really fun.

even if you could see them all gathered around the table in the open world it would be epic, you'd have to try to make it a special and memorable episode.

I love the JSA. But I have an idea that they can't use some of the characters....See, Geoff Johns gets royalties for characters like Citizen Steel and Stargirl (which is why they show up on CW shows...he gets to pick which characters AND he gets money when they use his characters). I am guessing that because many of the characters have showed up, especially the main old ones like Wildcat, GL, OG Flash, the Hawks, Powergirl, etc.

Again, I am curious about licensing. The fact that Joker hasn't showed up since the OG game makes me wonder. And it is possible they have to get permissions to use characters that didn't exist when the game launched, which may be why they have followed some of the story lines happening in the comics.

Yea was going to say I'm pretty sure theres licensing issues with Watchmen, I think a dev might've even mentioned it before.

Joker has nothing to do with licencing or rights or any of that. DCUOs Joker was Mark Hamill, he officially retired from doing Jokers Voice about 2 or 3 years back. He's only come out of retirement to do it once, and that was because he personally always wanted to play The Killing Jokes Joker. After that, he returned to retirement.

"Licencing" and "Copyright" and all other synonyms are thrown around a bit too often, and are very rarely the reason that "X" can't be done. Most if not all Episodes in DCUO have introduced new characters into the game. Why wasn't Licencing or Copyright a problem for Isis, Neron, Barbatos, Flashpoint Batman etc etc. It needs approval by DC to include characters, as well as an explanation as to that characters role/appearance in the Episode in question so as to make sure the game represents them correctly, but beyond that I'd imagine there's far fewer "Licencing" issues than most think.
  19. BumblingB I got better.

Mark Hamill went on the record recently that he will not be reprising his role as Joker, because of the passing of, his good friend and Batman's Voice Actor, Kevin Conroy. I don't think we will ever hear his voice in the game again. :(

Normally I'd be pretty sad about that but you can at least understand it. The 2 shared projects continuously for about 32yrs or so, it wouldnt feel right or the same for him to be standing in a voice booth opposite someone else. They were a different kind of "Dynamic Duo" all on their own after all.

There's plenty of other Villains still to put a focus on, Mongul springs to mind. Regardless though, just as much as Conroy will always be the greatest Batman, Hamills performances will be missed just as much.
