so , i play on pc, i have logged my pc account onto my PS4, i have hooked to my streaming PC, anyway, i get a lot of players in my stream that are from the EU, and a bunch of Xbox players. and i feel bad, cause we don't share the server with them, i was wondering, since ps and Xbox are playing nice when it comes to cross platforming on some other Newer games like War zone, i think Fallout 76, fortnite, i know it would probably take a ton of work, but in total. once the next gen consoles come out, and this game is going to last for years to come, hopefully it will get a similar upgrade for the ps5, as in boundary on what they can and can't do, mainly because the New PS5 and the Xbox series x are basically entry level gaming pc's with PlayStation's own operating system, and same with Microsoft, i would think they would at least implement the Xbox servers onto the cross platform with the PC and PlayStation network. i understand that the switch, has it's own limitations, so that most def wont happen, but i feel it's 100 % possible for the Xbox players to join us ,

    1. Giving us more players
    2. i could go on but you get the point
p.s put in faction swapping , aka, heroes should be able to go villain, and vise versa. cause that happens ALL the time in Superhero and Super villain stories and characters Sinestro, Guy Gardner , red hood, i could go on, being this added. we also need to get rid of the locked chat, with heroes not being able to pst villains, or invite them to groups, even though they added the task force x where we can raid / pvp with them, but we can't talk to them once were out of the group.
but being we group with them, shows there is something already in play that let's us chat with them, and no don't say "JOIN THE VERSUS" PLAYER MADE chat channel. that isn't reliable. i find myself. helping heroes, and villains, depending on what character im on. in BoP Missions well the Weekly Calc, and meta missions, and same with thanagarian missions.

daybreak games, formally known as Sony Online Entertainment aka SOE, who did SWG "Star Wars Galaxies" no not that shatty mobile game. :),, had a perfect chat system, with the player starting out as neutral, going down to a starting planet, being able to talk to anyone via /tell /say /spatial aka /Shout and once you figure out if you want to join the rebellion or the empire, you have to go to a Imperial or Rebel recruiter and they give you side quests to go grind out faction, to even join the faction, and you can resign, if you choose, by doing the same thing, going back to any recruiter and saying you wish to resign. from the rebellion or empire , and you go grind faction to join the other faction if you please.

There is just so much potential in this game, that has so much more potential, alot of thing's i talk about were done in Star wars galaxies, mainly being that game was a MMO before it's time, and this game is ten years in nearly and running strong. but ill end it with that, i could go into the Chat bubbles which would make this game even more "i hate this word" epic but, when i talk to someone in the say , watchtower or HOD, im standing next to them, i say "Hey hows it going" and unless your DMing/PSTing someone or in a group or league with them it's easy to miss messages cause even the emotes don't have a message box over the players head to give that much more of a roll-playing feel, and look also a superhero look even more cause the comic book style chat bubbles below will be a couple screenshot of the the chat bubbles if you don't understand how it works, or would. i apprietiate you taking the time to read this long #$#%$^$%$ crappy paragraphs of stuff i have been thinking about for years. but it is possible now with the new gen consoles being so great.

and i say cheers to all , hope everyone has a good day, im trying, i really am

A one time character transfer or copy to another platform would be ideal .

Server merges/cross platform play is ultimately going to come down to the big three companies (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) agreeing to it. Until that happens, there isn't much Daybreak/Dimensional Ink can do.

Any graphics updates may end up being limited. For better or worse, from all appearances the devs have done their best to deliver the same graphical experience for players regardless of what platform they play on. So with the Switch looking to be the lower end of the spectrum, anything they do will still have to be able to run on that system. It's kind of tough imagining them starting to play favorites now when they've been on this route for close to a decade.

And I've said this before, many times in fact, but there's a solid argument to be made that faction switching isn't necessary. With the ability to have/buy more than one character slot, the need for being able to switch to experience all aspects of the game isn't there. SWG had the switching system because at the start of the game you could only have one character per server (which expanded to two after the NGE). Besides, you'd have to put in some safeguards to make sure people wouldn't just use it to powergame their characters (and there WOULD be people who would switch just to do that) and we all know how well that would go over.

As for chat, SWG was built to allow chat between factions from the start. I think it was a little more necessary given the sandbox aspect of the game and how much of the game wasn't factional. With separate faction chat built in to this game from the start, untangling that might end up being problematic (you never know when messing with the old code LOL). Also, despite some of the faction sparring that took place in SWG the community there was (for the most part) pretty level-headed. I can't say the same about this player base, and the mere fact that we can't seem to get along in our own faction chat makes me doubt opening up chat with the opposite faction is a good idea.

no. think bigger, no offense you need to understand what this company has done in the last 20 years. being owned by sony,

very good reply. i agree for the most part we don't know what messing with old code with the chat would do, But, they have gone back and fixed older stuff lately, i dunno, and in swg you could spam as you said, but in this game.. even if you subscribe you can spam in trade chat, and its very easy to ignore people. the way the interface is set up, and f2p accounts. have to wait even longer and are way more restricted when it comes to chat specifically for the spam reasons.

i feel like they could make a whole 3 episode ark out of the faction change. there could be so much to integrate with the story having batman involved, joker or lex. if they can't get hamil back, they could go back to the original three or six, counting both sides. and do a cool little addition to the main story ark and you could do the quest and at the end you have the option to stay hero or change if you want, and once you complete the missions. Think of the oblivion bar missions. with constantine, but bigger :D i have so many ideas, they could even involve other heroes. like green lantern, the martian, "not matt Damon" , and the neutral guy who would be in both the WT and HOD or out in one of the cities who knows. they could do anything, using older or newer characters, i really think this has legs.

And for the Chat bubbles. we know the PC can handle it, and now that console players are getting there own pre built pc's with a sony operating system and a microsoft xbox operating system, they are pretty much in the same game, at a entry level pc, specially having those SSD's in the ps5 , you know if you put a ssd in a ps4, it cuts loading times down 40% nearly off topic i know but i just thought that was cool. and thats a reg ps4. The chat bubbles. can be toggled how long they are viewed, 3 seconds. how far away you see them. which players you wanto see, League members only, or all, and the emotes are the same, cause the emote system could use a touch up. and would be tightened up with a update like this.

im just sayin this stuff cause this game isn't going anywhere so why not ask and discuss stuff that worked in the past for other SOE/ Dabreak games, and would be amazing in this game. maybe better.

Thx for the reply , CHEERS

I've been advocating for cross progression in this game for quite some time. In the context of this thread I felt mentions a character transfer or copy as ideal as merging the servers seems unlikely at this point. I am hoping for at least this minimum if we dont get full cross progression. The next step up would be cross save like Destiny two and then full from their full crossplay. A lot of Xbox players will be receiving naming tokens unless they do something in the back end to differentiate USPS and USXbox server characters with the same name.

DCUO was built with cross faction chat from the start. In the Beta you could tell and send mesages to the versus chat. We used to organize tournaments before dueling was offially a part of the game. I miss the early days where fight club was at the top of Star labs.

It can be done technically, but it won't because of partnership considerations. Basically, your PSN/X-Box Live/Nintendo Network accounts belong to the respective platforms they originated from. The Playstation network will not allow us to "leave" to transfer to another platform (PC for example). So no matter how many times players ask, no matter how many years pass, a transfer will not happen. Unlike some player requests, this one needs to be forgotten by everyone since it will not happen ever.

A merger with the other platforms on the other hand is a separate issue that may still be resolvable in the future, but as of this moment there is ZERO word on that.

Beta is beta, though. The live game didn't have that at launch.

Yea but your character data could be tied to a new Daybreak/Dimensional Ink account instead of just your psn. That's what every other cross play /save game does. Since your data is now tied to Daybreak and not you console account it can be moved to any platform they allow. The biggest barrier would be currency. That's why i suggested going for purely a cross save nature like Destiny 2. Any currency you buy on that platform stays on that platform but your progression carries over. They essential make a copy of your character and have that data uploaded to you Bungie.net account and then your respective console (or pc) syncs to that data.

They could even do it the what Warframe does it ,if a server merge never happens. Copy the current state of your character and put it on the Xbox or Switch server and from then on, the characters will effectively be a separate entities. They could probably still do that even if they merge the server as your character would likely have to change its name upon being copied to another server anyway(unless you are lucky). At the end of the day the data is just 1s and 0s. I have a feeling it is more a logistical issue than that of Sony saying no. A lot decisions Daybreak make seem to come from a cost benefit perspective with player requests. The work to migrate this data might be more bandwidth than they can allow. So until Mepps or Bird of Pray come on here and say Sony, M$, or Nintendo said no , I am not going to give up hope on the matter. Closed mouths don't get fed.

Different people made a decision to remove a feature for w/e. The people who made those decisions , largely don't even work at daybreak anymore. And my comment was speaking more to your statement that SWG was built with cross faction chat in mind. DCUO was too. The idea that beta is beta is Irrelevant. It was intended to be there and they said nah at the last moment. That beta was literally a month before official release and for w/e reason they decided to take it out. My Suspicion was it was eating up resources on PS3 and they made a decision for performance, just like when they altered how long mail stays in our inbox. So unlike every other request in this thread turning that on would probably literally be like flipping a switch in the code for chat(unless someone deleted that source code somehow). Maybe your suspicion that they think we would abuse it (which is absolutely correct because that versus chat was a dark place) is spot on but alas some things will always be a mystery to us players.

yea. there is many games. / mmo rpgs that prove cross faction chat works. after wow came along and made non cross faction chat a big thing, things started sucking,

Daybreak, as i said in my long long long, paragraphs , aka SOE games. have done it successfully before with Star wars galaxies, and it worked like a charm, and being able to switch from faction to faction works great to, even adds its own player content, they really need to consider this. , just the last couple days, with the new Episode or w/e they are called now, the New Wonderverse DLC, as a villain, if they're arent as many on. we can't find a group when there is a ton of heroes running around, depending on the hours you play of course but either way, A. cross faction grouping, B Cross faction Chatting/dms , and C. Chat bubbles. is another big one,

the other day standing in a big group, waiting around, when you type /say NO one can see who is saying or emoting, cause nothing pops over theyr'e heads, to indicate they are communicating or trying to RP or just talk, thats just another thing ontop of Cross faction chat, is the chat bubbles. people that understand like you, need to keep letting the dev team know in forum posts like this, it's something they need to consider, with cross faction chat at LEAST,

    Thx for the reply

    P.s

@MEPPS never heard you or nerd of prey mention anything at all about any of this, in your live streams, this would definitely boost the player base even if people don't think so, cause they don't realize how much this stuff could change the game for the better
  12. Toshknight Loyal Player

Just because some of the really good devs aren't working at db/soe anymore doesn't have anything with what is right and should be done to the game, just as a quality of life option
  13. Toshknight Loyal Player

this is a pointless reply... as mine is to yours. none productive, no offense. stating facts of something that is the problem of the game doesn't really help, that's why we are discussing this. pointing out that it was only apart of beta , means that it doesn't count at all cause it was not apart of the game when it went live. why don't you say, why or why not, it would work or not work in your opinion, even though, there are no cons really at all, cause there is the mute button, and the option to turn all this stuff off in options , like task force x Q's are right now, , chat bubbles. could be turned off, how long they are up, and opposing factions chat that you see could be toggled as well in total. Just sayin, i've been playing this developers game's for 17 years and i know what they thrive in , and don't,

Daybreak/soe games. have always been buggy as hell in many ways, but they have a certain charm and large ammount of fun to them,

I support any and all cross-play.

That being said, when it comes to Faction Changes, I have a very different attitude. Faction Changes should not be a thing, because Factions should not be a thing.

This game was originally made by SOE. SOE made another game before this one, which Dimensional Ink is also still running to this day, called Everquest. In Everquest, whether you were a Dark Elf or a Gnome or Troll or whatever affected what NPCs would give you quests and what cities you were welcome in. It NEVER prevented you from being able to speak with or group with other players. Factions should not prevent players from playing with each other. The rigid two-faction system was pioneered by World of Warcraft, and it is poorly implemented and dumb. It was dumb when WoW introduced it, serving only as a lazy substitute for a real faction system (the way EQ had). And it was dumb when every other MMO seemed to start adopting it to clone the WoW method.

We can already group with each other through Task Force X. It is understood that heroes and villains can work together.

So we need to REMOVE the darn restrictions. Let heroes and villains TALK, so that we can actually arrange stuff. Let heroes and villains invite each other into groups, not just as a part of random queues and workarounds, but for literally ANYTHING. Let us group up for Bounties. Let us run our dailies together.

Superman and Lex can be uptight about factions, but our characters should have the freedom to speak to and group with anyone we want.

    END THE SEGREGATION!

What you're failing to understand is that this is the deal that Daybreak Games Company/Dimensional Ink/DCUO has had since its inception as Sony Online Entertainment. The same kind of deal was set for X-box and likely Switch. This isn't a technology issue, it is a contract issue. As it currently stands, your DCUO account on PSN belongs to PSN, and factors into how they get paid. Because of said contract deal, PSN is not going to give up their lucrative hold on your PSN based DCUO account. Why would they???

Considering that the Playstation is their highest populated platform, one can infer that it's also the platform that generates the most revenue (this was definitely the case way back before PC & PS merged), therefore it wouldn't be wise to do anything that could get them booted off PSN. Not everyone playing on Playstation owns a PC powerful enough to run this game.
