New player SP catch-up mechanics ?

I leveled a few characters recently and honestly can't say i paid terribly good attention to it, but I think they're all listed in the traits power tree and it tells you what level they unlock at too.

You're also correct in that you will end up at about the 50-60SP area after leveling, depending on how much you did or didn't avoid additional story feats on the way, for example things like putting out the fire in the bookcases in the Chinese theater.

This is extremely helpful, thank you so much !!!

That makes sense ! I’ll make a plan based on these recommendations, thank you, this community is truly awesome

In respect to the topic a little more as well I used to be heavily opposed to this, but I'm honestly at the point where I think they should just sell some feat packs.

They could sell them in DLC feat packs for $10 or something and people would likely buy them, perhaps if they're older than 3 or 4 years, as much as I think this somewhat diminishes the feat for veterans, there has to be a compromise to keep the blood flowing.

He's making a joke that that's the main consideration in the game. Though it really isn't a joke. I would suggest artifacts at 160, but gather the nth metal and do your jumps I believe in the fall when the next double nth week happens. But that's just my opinion. SP will come as it comes. This is an MMO, so you're not going to have 800 SP in 4 weeks no matter how much you grind. Look for some of the easiest ones, and work on those! Progressive feats are not the easiest ones, like killing 5,000 of something.

If I were doing this and this change was to go into effect … when it rolled out you’d have the skill points you have now and just go from there, that way no one would gain anything or lose anything. From that point on just the more time you put into the game collecting exobytes, completing missions, and just killing random things open world would go toward xp once the xp meter is filled you gain a stat point.

This would be a great way to eliminate the cries for feats that are impossible to get now and various other complaints that come up such as it being hard to get open world feats once it’s no longer the current content and various other complaints.

I help bridge the gap from new player to seasoned veteran they could make it similar to how artifacts work.. there are thresholds the lower down on the threshold the faster xp comes and the more so you can get with less xp.. it will then begin to lessen as your sp goes up. They can and should continue to cap out the amount of sp each stat can have.

If the devs wanted to monetize off this they already sell xp boosters .. they could sell them in packs as I think they already do. If they wanted to be cool .. they could let us craft an xp booster that wouldn’t be quite as lucrative as the ones in the market place but would give a slight boost.

Any way this is just an idea and an opinion though. This is not coming from someone who is hurting for skill points … both my roles have all the skill points needed to help my roles. I just wanna make it easier for folks who are new or coming back to get the skill points needed to excel in the game.

It will most likely go no where but I’d like devs to know there is some interest in this from folks out there and the benefits it would have on the community.. especially killing some of the complaints that happen over and over on the forum. Superman emblem the speed feat that eog is necessary for etc.

True but they already are when it comes to feats… devs don’t seem to know how to Combat it, which I can’t say much cause I have no idea what it would take to stop it, just like how the devs can’t get a handle on the gold spammers, so I think that basically just don’t try to actively and aggressively go after them and rely on reporting to do something about it.

Uh oh...looks like our string of agreeing on things is up. They should not sell SP any more than they already do (by way of TCs, CR skips and easy to earn with a CC 'feats'). My reason isn't 'well I earned should too' or whatever, it's the fact that this will embolden DI to specifically create feats that will either be time or effort prohibitive for most people, with the eventual availability in a 'feat pack' as a additional way of getting them. Now you say 3 or 4 years, but honestly I'd guess if they were making them available it would be closer to when a DLC hits EEG as part of a standard set of things that would happen....including release of a feat pack.

We already know that a large portion of our player base will choose 'pay' over 'play' as an option to get things, why give DI another outlet to exploit that mentality? I don't personally care if you want to spend your money, but it really does leave those not willing/able to, out in the cold. If you think the crys of 'I can't get old feats done' is bad now, wait till half the people who are crying that get the option to whip out the old CC and fix the issue. The other half will be truly screwed then.

Now....could they add a few more to a CR skip? I could see that working, but selectively. Grant the 5 and 10 count PVP feats, but leave the 25 or 50s for those who really want to work on them. Grant the speed feats that everyone will get by just stepping into the content 1 time or other 'participation' feats where very little effort would get them done anyway. Then those who really just want a bit of a speed boost in getting their SP up can get a CR skip....or pick it up via a grant assuming one is given. But those that choose NOT to whip out a CC to fix the issue, can still grind out those same things with a bit of time and effort.

Oh, I wasn't talking about being able to farm sheep to gain SP levels (reference to WoW episode of South it if you've never seen it), but more like SP could be granted for doing things we should all be doing, like running particular content or performing particular actions. I'd tie a bunch to some role tutorials that they should also add. If you are referring to being able to stand outside East End PD and kill Brainiac drones for a month to get to 800 SP, count me out. Now...could there be SOME XP level sp tied to killing of particular adds or in particular zones....sure...but not all of them. Example, you get 1 SP from running Funhouse....but it caps at 10. You can't run Funhouse 800x for a full SP load.

And as far as some feats being impossible, not including some Elite feats (or E+ now), there are practically none I'd agree are impossible...even close to it. The 'impossible' thing is building a group to get into the content....without randoms who MAKE the feat impossible. Which is why I always have and always will champion an adjustable queue of some sort. With the exception of burn check feats, most capable groups can get a feat done even if 1 or 2 hands short. 1 or 2 MORE people is normally where you see feat groups break up in LFG from lack of my experience.

It's a game over ten years old with years of layered code that can interconnect in surprising ways, and adding new code/information to all that can and probably will open up vulnerabilities that were at one point closed up. Add in that no code is really 100% secure AND that spammers/speed hackers are determined to keep doing what they wish no matter what? It's going to be an ongoing problem no matter what happens.

I'm not saying they shouldn't try or that they don't attempt to thwart them. But it's essentially a game of whack-a-mole that never ends, despite their best efforts.
  12. Proxystar #Perception

Reinheld there's already a number of feats already that are either time or effort prohibitive for many people, in addition there's numerous feats that continue to be unreasonable with no fix in sight, despite having been reported for years now. They're simply not fixing any feats nor are they adjusting anything in EEG, they're ignoring it and just hoping it won't cause too much of a problem.

It also doesn't help when elitist players jump at every opportunity to just tell people to "get good".

In addition, there is very little, if any, difference between selling feats outright and removing the clamp so that players can just achieve them with trivial ease, something I note you also support as an option specifically to make feats easier, which puts you in quite the contradictory predicament.

The only extra step you're requiring is that the player queue the instance and spend a few minutes whomping some insignificant boss, with that in mind it seems you do care, greatly that someone wants to spend their money.

The reality is players already spend instead of play and this typical approach to gaming exists within all video games, it may as well be embraced.

It would go against all the "pro-clamper" arguments or whatever, not only with the game "not being played how it was intended by the developers" (since things could be skipped altogether), but that whole schtick about people not queuing after they have all the feats they want out of the content. Also, it would be literally making what the "anti-clampers" said about "selling our progress back to us" all the more real...

selling your progress back, the only people buying feats are those that never had them, you cannot buy back that which you never possessed in the first place.

I meant stats-wise, no matter if you are for the clamp or not, you gotta realize it would be real messed up to clamp the game and then just "sell stats back" by letting players buy SP...

I see your perspective, thanks. You're worried that because they clamp you and SP pierce the clamp, you're buying an EEG advantage?

I'm not sure I personally care, this game became a pay2win scenario through allies and artifacts long ago, I'm not sure preserving SP matters at this point, but I at least understand your point. Thanks.

I'm not personally worried, you should know that, I like to remain neutral in that war lol. I'm just saying you could already theoretically visualize the future vast amount of complaints that would come along with it from both sides XD

But I'm glad you get it :)

    Edit: Also, I agree.

Edit edit: I know people will complain no matter what, but this just sounds like a whole new Pandora's Box
