I mean seriously. How hard could it be to alow me to be mentored with any member of the justice league or the Hall of Doom. To be honest, 3/4 of the missions are rehashed maps already. Just allow me to pick green Lantern as a mentor and let me progress to lvl 30 with alot of hard light missions thrown in. Then at then end, me and GL can team up and take out Sinestro, or Atticitus. Seriously, all the characters exist, all the maps exist, all we need is some creative story telling and viola, we got ourselves some brand new mentor missions. I'd make creating new characters a hell of alot more fun. Thank you for your time and have a nice day.
It shouldn't be too hard but not really needed, the mentors aren't what people think they are. Really they aren't in this game as mentors but just avatars for you to choose towards that wing Meta, Magic and Tech for your leveling missions. If the mentors had more in depth roles in this game then I would agree but they currently do not.
I would like to new mentors, but first and need to fix the current. An example of the first mission on the ship brainiac, I always wonder why instead of continuing to hear a voice trying to guide us, because we are not saved by our mentor who accompanies us throughout the mission to run away till? It would be much more fun and logical .. The same in some other missions ...
If your argument is to hold any ground you need to explain what role of importance does your mentor hold past T1. Once you can answer that question you have a sound argument. Dont worry we will wait.
Really Armorsmith says it all. After level 30 it really doesn't make a bit of difference who your mentor WAS because you get the exact same set of missions to run based on what ever tier you are currently in. Before 30.. basically you do three Mentor missions.. At level 3, level 17 or 18, and again when you finish the Specter mission and are called to the Watchtower to run your last mission and get invited to join the Justice League. All the rest of those missions are obtained through individual contacts that include the Flash, Cyborg, Shazam, The Question, Bat Woman, Martian Manhunter, Doctor Fate, Robin, Night Wing, Jim Gordon, Zatanna, Oracle (Barbara Gordon who used to be Bat Girl) and a couple NPCs that aren't actually Super Heroes. Now if you think about it .. since a lot of those are actually members of the JLA you do actually get more missions and guidance from other JLA members than from the Mentor you pick when creating your character. Considering the amount of time you actually spend dealing with that mentor it seems like a lot of work to add new mentors and the Dev Staff really needs to focus on new content, Power fixes, GLITCHES AND BUGS, and other issues that affect game play and enjoyment.
they want you to be surprised later on when you discover none of the npc super heroes do a damn'd thing ever to help you. batman: 'uhhhh... i have to call oracle. take care of this.' superman: 'uhhhh... krypton is calling. brb' wonder woman: 'uhhhh... now where did i put my purse.' [not to be sexist i was just looking for something funny]
also... your deep desire for other heroes/villains might seem better if you bothered spelling them correctly.
Mentors aren't even mentors per se. They are just there that opens specific missions up for you. Especially when it comes to those pre level 30 missions and they are all unique in there own way sorta. Mentors don't benefit the game really, yes, there's feat, there's specific gear that goes toward Magic, Meta or Tech, but that's about it. I would love the idea of mentors if they had more to the game besides just telling me what missions I have and such. As soon as you hit level 30 and pass that when it comes to combat rating, mentors don't really matter anymore.
naw. what are you talking about? when you're in FOS2 trying REALLY hard to beat bosses and superman is either AFK or completely ineffectual is one of the best experiences in the game!!!
a) Mentors are an almost meaningless part of the game that become completely meaningless once one finishes the tutorial and starts at level 30. In other words, after your first two to three days of play. b) It would be as "hard" as paying for the voice studio, mixing technicians, voice actors, animators, programmers, and support staff, i.e., only several hundred thousand dollars. Presumably since that is not "hard," you can chip in a $100,000 or so yourself. Then, I guess, you can keep playing only the tutorial under-level 30 missions over and over and over.
I'm talking only see Superman in the end is a very boring surprise! I still believe that my mentor should be next to me ... After all this is what a mentor is ...
Well, mentors would be good if they changed the opening content from the Brainiac Ship. Maybe make it more of a mentor mission to start to get you to level 3. Why not? They could also put in tips about roles and such. Like really, 5 years in and the opening content is the Brainiac ship, i say meh. And believe me, I have altitis, so would love something different. More content at any Tier is a good thing. Think about how many people complain about blowing through stuff, like really. Also, since we all agree that mentors really don't do anything, open up all missions from all mentors for everybody.
If you want a new mentor, I can be one. But seriously, I don't think we need more mentors. The ones we have are just there to differentiate the three areas of origins (meta, tech, magic). I believe Green Lantern's falls under the Tech category. Although I would like to see some sub-class of the mentoring system in the future. For example, under Magic/Wonder Woman, if you want to specialize into a certain class (tank/controller/healer/DPS) you can choose from Aquaman, Doctor Fate, Shazam, or Zatanna. Under Meta/Superman, you can choose from Martian Manhunter, The Flash, Plastic Man, or Black Canary. Under Tech/Batman, you have Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawkman & Hawkgirl, or The Atom.
Sadly.... the Mentors were a missed opportunity. So much could have been done with the Mentors.... but in the end.... they are pretty much pointless.
If they add new mentors, they should be in addition to the original mentors. They should summon you (or be assigned to you once you are made a member of the JLA) when you hit level 30 to teach you your role. Have three additional mentors per faction that each give a role-specific solo mission in the War Room to teach the mechanics of tanking, controlling or healing. As far as the DPS side goes, either the role mentors could all give the same combat test mission or they could add a mentor for every power that gives a lesson on your specific AM and WM, complete with temporary SP to demonstrate WM in the solo instance. I need to stop there as my brain is storming way too much on this with excitement. It could turn out really neat.
