Does anyone hear anything on when a new DLC is suppose to drop? We went back to larger content.. Which in the old days meant every 3 months something new. This is month 2 of AF3.. and I don't recall any news/hints as to what is next. Just more wondering than complaining.. Tomorrow, then I'll complain.
DLC hasn't moved back to quarterly, it only went back to large and spread out pieces of content. I expect the next DLC to still be few months away.
I get that, and agree with it. Febtober should be stats revamp. But, the AF3 content will be 4-5 months old before new content. I hope that is just a glitch and we go back to every 3 months.
You think the revamp will happen before the next DLC? better get your riot shows together. This is no longer a stats revamp, this is a total overall game revamp. They are the first three powers still, and have twelve more to go.
Well they said something along the lines it may or may not go back to exactly 3 months, some DLCs might be scheduled to take a little. So we may see DLCs in the ball park of every 3 or 4 months after the revamp. They were expecting stats revamp to take a while to test, which is why AFIII is such a grind compared to the other DLCs. Gives the every man plenty of time to complete without using replays. They can take all the time in the world as far as I'm concerned. We already knew going in it was going to be a complete overhaul. I just hope they don't muck it up.
From what I can see, it's probably the other way around, atleast for me it is. If they need a few more months to get stats matter right, i'd rather they do that and we get another DLC under the current CR-system while waiting instead of getting stuck with AF3 for an extended period OR having the stats matter rushed because of the "NAOW NAOW"-crowd.
It's not a glitch. The original intent was to go back to quarterly Episodes...but that was when they originally planned to release AF3 in December/Early 2017 (according to several people here, that was confirmed by Mepps in a podcast). That all changed when they announced the release of AF3 for November. The stats revamp was underway, but as we've all seen, it's a huge undertaking that couldn't be rushed. So AF3 got designed to last longer than 3 months. When you take into consideration the price for vendor gear (#bestgearinvendor), and that it takes 11.5 weeks to complete one set for one role on a single toon, you can see that they pushed for this Episode to last longer while they work on the revamp. Not one wrod about what's coming next story or character-wise has been said. The moment that changes, I doubt you'll have to ask the question, as there will be several threads covering every minutiae of the announcement right here.
Hey look..... another stat overhaul...... Why? Because they couldnt get it right the 1st couple times. Now this stat overhaul, (again I might add), is getting in the way of newer content. Another in a long line of reasons why I will never pay another nickle for this game.
I'm all for getting the stats right.. But, they gave us the new daily grind in the anniversary content. They do have teams working on this outside of the stats team I would assume. I'm all for a grind, what I don't want is this game going back to feeling like a 2nd job.
The anniversary event is a seasonal, I wouldn't compare it to a full DLC. It's unlikely future DLCs will be as extensive as AFIII.
I understand what the seasonal event is, the point was they have more than one team working on the game enhancements behind the scenes.
Actually they were quite clear that we no longer have quarterly episodes. Mepps specifically said large content episodes would be done at their own pace and released when they were ready, that they no had no specific time frame to fit. This was actually something he said after AF 3 was released.
Time Capsule are selling way better than new Episodes/DLC so who knows when they plan to release new content, it sure has not priority over TC.
What Wiccan says was confirmed on the recent Discord server ask-dcuo chat: DLCs will be released when ready. No particular cadence now. But they plan to sprinkle larger events like the anniversary event in between stuff.
Right...AFTER AF3 was released. Several people have pointed out to me that there was a podcast or something where he stated that they were going back to a Quarterly release. It was only after AF3 was announced and released earlier than anticipated, when Mepps changed the tune to "large content episodes were to come out at their own pace".
Actually if you look back (it's something Mepps pointed out at the time) the devs never actually said the words "quarterly release" at all. They said they were going back to "large content" releases. It was a case of the community doing what it tends to do and assuming something that isn't accurate. Than after AF 3 was released they officially said it would take as long as it takes... or something to that effect.
Funny how you think this was done just to hold us over. Have you played Neverwinter? They are changing our grind to be very similar to Neverwinter. That's where some of the devs came over from. This is our new system, at least for 2017 it will be.
