New Cinematic Trailer for DCUO.... (sort of...)

So i´m a big fan of the original Cinematic Trailer of DCUO, but we haven´t got more since the launch of the game, that´s why i decided to made a montage using different footage with the base of the first gameplay trailer of DC Universe Online. I´m kinda curious what my fellow gamers fans of DC think of it:

Nice job. I kind of think you might have mixed in a few of the cuts from the initial game video showing some of the mix of 'new' toons. Other than Fracture, everyone else is the 'normal' DC roster (Although I get it...those in game cuts are not the 'cinematic' feel) The biggest selling point of DC (IMHO) is you normally DON'T have to play those toons...but your own invention. I like the voiceover...not sure if it was you or from some other game. Nice job either way.

I get what you are saying, as a matter of fact you gave me an idea to pull some footage to try get a second pass on the trailer (the scene where normal people get infected by the exobytes).

This is amazing. I also initially thought there would be some gameplay footage, but then, it would have looked a bit strange/basic.

I want to give the video a like. I really do. It's very well made and gets across the theme of this game very well. But there's so much footage of games that aren't DCUO used in the video that I can't quite bring myself to call it a DCUO video, even with the "sort of" part in the thread title.

A DC games video? Sure, I can go with that. But I just think that if you're going to call it a DCUO video, it should have, you know, more DCUO in it.

Already a few seconds in and I love it I miss the mini movie clips we use to get while we level up and doing our missions etc. We should get more of those they should have never stopped lol .

I'd wager those were stupid expensive and were likely all put together during the initial 'build' phase of the game, so cheaper to do in bulk than piecemeal per ep....I'd guess. I think the last one we got was the intro for 'Last Laugh'.

But yeah...those headline videos were always fun and entertaining....but probably not financially a great idea. Also, I'd hate to hear replacement voices for any of the voice actors who've moved on.

I went to make a second cut of the trailer, added the shots with the regular people getting powers and added Sassy Lex Luthor at the end of the trailer, a few more Sound FX that match the footage in some cases .

You are probably right, but at the same time those little details add more immersion and are a welcome addition for many players of the game, especially those who are Comic Book fans first than gamers.

Nice. yeah, I like those scenes....shows a bit of the 'you are the hero' feel and fit in nicely.

I remember the Blur trailers were mentioned being crazy expensive, something in the high five figures. It should't be quite as expensive to do the comic headlines, even if they're like $5k a pop, 2 or 3 per episode, 4 episodes a year, we're looking at 60 grand a year for...what? Will it increase retention? Will there be a return on that investment? Might be hard to quantify...which the accountants always require. Corporations running artistic endeavors tend to always be a decent bit of conflict between the artists/devs/design teams and the accountants, making sure there is enough return on any outlays. I'm sure the Dimensional Ink team would love to bring them back from a creative standpoint.

I think it would be very hard to quantify...so hard to sell to some bean counters....even at 60K a year. I'd like to see a 'unsub' survey question..."Would you have continued subbing if there were more cinematic scenes per episode?".....but I doubt it.

Although if they WERE just $5...Heck, I'd front them the money....I'd guess that was supposed to be $5K.
