My fiancé and I go on Netflix occasionally and find a lot of boring movies. Any suggestions on what movies are good on Netflix? We're open minded and aren't tied to a specific genre of movies. Well, we do hate scary movies. They turn out to be more comedy than anything.
Do you rate films you've watched? Also go on the Netflix website to rate films you've seen and genres you like? Netflix is pretty good at making recommendations for your viewing habits and preferences. Sometimes I like to just pop on the Dr. Max thing and let that pick something for me and I'll give it a watch. I've found some really good films tat way. Other than that have you tried looking at other Netflix regions?
Have you guys watched Cabin in the Woods? I know you guys said you hate horror, but it's really something unique. Also, don't look at any reviews or comments about the movie. It's one of those movies where the less you know going into it, the better. Also if you didn't see it in theaters, Warrior is a pretty good drama film.
If I had a beef with Netflix recommendation system, it seems to weigh disproportionately the last couple of movies I watch. I watched 2 documentaries on child soldiers in Africa and my recommendation list was backlogged with documentaries about people brutalizing children, child prostitutes, slave labour etc. If anything after watching the documentaries, I was in the mood for a comedy.
Butter was ok. IP MAN is a really good historic martial arts film. My name is nobody is a funny western. Blitz is pretty good as well.
Thanks to Netflix, I got my wife hooked on The Walking Dead, got us both hooked on Breaking Bad(we watched the entire series save for season 5 2nd half), Sons of Anarchy(1-4) and now House of Cards. I'm definitely getting my money's worth.
Check out orange is the new black....it will be an Emmy favorite next year. As others have said House of cards is great as well.
I don't think Netflix has a lot of good, recent movies. I've always though their strength was in Television series. If you guys are classis music fans, there's a series I just discovered on there called "Classic Albums" that's kinda neat to watch various artists talk about and give inside stories about some of the more acclaimed classic rock albums. Then there's tons of other series to watch, all the Doctor Who, Alphas, Revolution, Jericho, Heroes, etc. Lots of good sci-fi players of DCUO should enjoy seeing or revisiting.
I turned it off last night. Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike it I just thought the whole premise of the nowhere metro reporter all of a sudden getting poop on some deep inside stuff from a powerful congressman was a bit far fetched.
Warrior was a great movie indeed. lol we've never deemed scary movies to be scary. Doesn't that defeat the purpose? We're suppose to be scared yet...we're not. We've actually had a good laugh watching the characters in these "scary" movies make the most illogical decisions.
Then you miss the purpose of some of them. That's all part of the fun of a lot of "scary" movies. Sometimes it's the campyness that MAKES the movie. Like Army of Darkness as one example.
Some of my favorites on Netflix that haven't been mentioned yet: Sherlock and Luther and Spaced are three 'must watch' tv shows, in my opinion. So good. Also if you like old silent comedies Netflix has several great Buster Keaton movies like The General (really really hilarious, everyone should watch it) and Sherlock Jr.
