Necks and possibly rings in the vault are not determined by role you go in.

This is how you fix the vault without adjusting the lame loot table.

A: Let every item become salvageable.
B: Let ALL items become account bound.

Well means this that as a Mental, Quantum, Gadget and Hard Light player I only get

Precision-, Might- or Vitalization-Necks with DPS- or CC-Affinity and Precision-, Might- or Vitalization-Rings with whatever affinity bonus?

Or has nothing changed and when I go into the vault as a controller I'll get Restoration-Neck with Controller-Affinity?

Thanks for posting this. This is good information to know because I was prepared to spend money on vault tickets but knowing this it's pointless to spend money for the same old garbage that won't help me at all.

ote="Mepps, post: 1780351, member: 6"]These work just like they did when they were i
n Lockboxes, and are based on your role. You won't receive a ring or necklace you can't use - a tank won't receive a healer ring, for example.

Edit: Stats and affinities remain random, and everyone can still get (and use) items from the Damage role.[/quote]
I just ran the vault 11ntimes and got a controller neck item lvl78. Im a a ice dps nothing todo with controller. Im at cr96

I feel you.. I just put some money in the bank and was going to buy some Vault tickets today, then seen this thread lol. Was so happy yesterday to finally get some nice Healer/Tank stuff.

SOE makes money off selling chance. That's how it's always worked. They can't be held liable if you pays your money and take your chances.

The promethium lockbox items never had a role restriction, they were always open ended and 'damage role' by default. That's what Mepps means/understood. The ring stats, however, were always all over the place and had affinities that were role 'oriented'. What the community considers a perfect ring or neck is one that has a high role specific stat, IE: Resto, and a healer affinity for healer role. That has always been random, and misinterpretations lead people to believe the update was going to assign 'perfect' accessories according to the role they were switched to when they smacked the boxes in the vault. Just some good ol' fashioned DCUO miscommunication.

I honestly didn't expect the functions to change at all. The items aren't tradeable, and they're not going to be adding new higher CR lockbox items. Their anticipated use is to quickly boost CR to get you into T5 content (after modding). Recovery plans let you strip the mods and recycle the rings for other toons.

Some perfect rings are still better than the T5 rings thanks to the socket affinity bonuses. That's where the complaints are really coming from. Tac mods caused the old prom'box necks to become mostly obsolete (IE: the defense tacmod fully boosted is worth more than any prom'box affinity bonus on a neck).

The next step would be to either add in the ability to mod any rings so the T5 rings would trump the prom'box necks, or to realign the ring stats so they cater more specifically to role specific stats (in this case, resto). A perfect healer ring with the resto socket bonus still puts you some 10-20 points of resto higher than a T5 healer ring. That's the problem that needs to be tackled. The old prom'box items served their purpose, time to move on. Lets get these T5 rings realigned and we can all be happy campers.

I'm glad I was able to help people like you out. I hate when things are sugarcoated just to seem more appealing.

We should have said that there is preference behind the scenes that determines what rings/necks drops are possible, based on your role, which was how it worked when they were in lockboxes. That works the same now that they are in the vault, but the affinities and stats are still random.

That's a lie, I have received several tank, healer necks and rings too while under gadget powerset. However lately it seems to be controller stuff with tank affinity, makes zero sense. Whoever thought of that need to go back to the drawing board. You tell me how a healer neck or a contoller neck should give you affinity in tank role.

As the vault, players have asked in the past to make a high cr vault that drops certain styles that are suppose to be rare to get in there. Since the artists did not think to use the rare styles for the new content instead of insectoid and the likes of it for the new content. There are ways to make your (customers) players happy by simply changing things that simple. People will not just get it unless their cr is high enough to get that chance.

off topic - i miss the balls and bombs...

Same rings as Prom boxes, max Cr is 78, same stats. No point. At least make the rings from the t5 alerts modable. And still 1 mak of triumph, or the super price : one box of 5 mot. Ridiculous!!

i opened up 4 lockboxes and still got a ring and some sodas .. is this supposed to happen i thought they removed those items from the boxes i had then saved up im not sure if that caused them to drop in them or what im just wondering
  15. Raijin1999 Loyal Player

No, any saved boxes were going to still have the sodas and randoms in them as they were. Any 'new' boxes are assigned to a different loot table. I got a standing queen's sarcophagus from my lockbox today and an MoR.

Just curious as to why this is the case. By having random procs and affinities, you end up more often than not with items that are really only good for boosting your CR. It's not like the jewelry were plentiful in PLBs to begin with. I've yet to run across a single perfect healer, troller, DPS, or tank ring across 3 toons in the entire time PLBs have been in the game. I feel sorry for anyone who has spent real money on PLB keys in that time.
  17. Kintuse Well-Known Player

Actually, that was your best shot to get perfect rings/necks. Obtaining boxes while being prem, after collecting as much as you can while prem, just sub an unlock all those boxes for amazing stuff inside. That's right, Legendary players got worse boxes.
  18. Raijin1999 Loyal Player

Paying for a key did influence chance, that's for sure. All 4/5 I opened with keys threw gear at me. Subbed up I would only get a gear item about 1/20 no matter how many toons I ran.
  19. Evian Well-Known Player

Disappointing. Thought I'd finally have a chance to score some decent jewelry with appropriate affinities.

Well, I hate to tell you this, but I often got controller statted rings, and necks on my characters that had no controller role from the prom boxes. The only thing about those rings/necks is, they have no role req on them to stop me from wearing them on my tank, or healer.
