Personally, I just pleased there actually is some solo stuff in this. HoP was a huge letdown for me as a rabid Kirby/New Gods fan. I wanted to have the chance to solo some stuff, get some real "story". Instead, it was just a WM slugfest. I'm in the same boat as a lot of ppl here and I'm essentially a league of one, so pugging is my main method of doing group content. The problem w/ that is that there's always one schmuck who thinks he knows everything and how to play every role and just ends up making the entire instance unsavory for everyone to say the least. At least we'll get some relief from that w/ the solo stuff here. More replay badges for gear again? I can think of worse, more harmful things to spend money on.
Same here. I really like that there is something for everyone and I hope they continue with the plan.
So sick of seeing this thread. The people who like large content got oc raids and then anb over the span of a calendar year and every dlc in that time had solos or duos. And we finally get 1 thats for large content players and the guys who like small content have the nerve to complain and ask for more? Stop being selfish and thinking only about yourself, there is an entire community of players.
Since we have a raid and alerts in every DLC.... the new structure does cater to 8 and 4 player content I would also like to see solo open world (or challenge) or at least a duo in every DLC. I also understand that what I want is not the direction the Devs want to take the game - and I'm fine with that.
They have shown data about how many people actually majorly play solo or duo content - it's extremely low, barely hitting 3-5%. A lot of people in here forget that this Forum does not represent the whole community, at all. Sure it'd be nice to have more variety but the focus should be kept on group play.
Solo content has to be engaging. It has to put you in to the story and gameplay. That takes storytelling and challenge mechanics. It also takes an incentive to shake the mmo allure for a little while. It's hard to develop appealing solo content for a game that is designed around teamwork. Dos on the other hand are just missing the appropriate awards. They also feel repetitive
Have you noticed how people quote only the 'amount played' number for solo content and not the number for Raids - which is not much more. Which is funny, because the best gear drops in raids... which also seems lopsided. I would love a few 'very difficult' solo challenges that drop the best gear.
To me the ideal would be 1 Challenge, 1-2 Duos, 1-2 4 Man, 1 8 Man per DLC and then some little extra on the side like open world stuff, 4 or 8 man bounties, some sort of mini-game (like toyman - but not toyman). Something for everyone and at the end of 4 DLCs we have a good spread for that tier. We know the Alerts and Duos are the most popular content (https://forums.station.sony.com/dcu...for-halls-of-power.214900/page-7#post-2721021) so at the very least I think we should be seeing both of them regardless of what else is in there, particularly if we're going to be seeing one 8 man per DLC. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against them adding 1 eight man per DLC - the more content the better right? - but if more people are playing 2 man then they should stop neglecting it (*cough* T4 *cough*).
Speaking as someone that plays all content, I would prefer a more balanced approach to DLCs as opposed to the alternating large/small group. It seems that we're getting roughly 5 instances per DLC so Fox's suggestion above of 1 solo, 1 8-man, and the rest alerts and duos would seem reasonable. I do not want content like Amazon Fury 1 that is almost all solo nor do I really want content like Halls of Power 1 as it is too raid heavy. Raids are fun, but with them as weekly events, that only left 2 new instances to run daily.
I don't care how many people an instance requires. What matters to me is the instance itself. Solos and duos don't have to be short as long as it's not just boring mobs that extends the duration of it. I like the new solo in WOTL II, it's challenging even with 108 gear and it looks cool but people allready want the difficulty lowered.
You should probably relook that statement highlighted in yellow and apply it to yourself. Your comments here are exactly what you are complaining about. I am not saying it should be solo/duo heavy but the option should be there but at the same time I also think you are just trying to stir up trouble on this thread so I probably won't be responding to you again unless you get more constructive with your post.
Sadly, the 'solos' that they considered were the "Iconic" ones which hardly ANYONE plays... yet we constantly hear people wanting solo 'challenges' in which you can use YOUR OWN character. So of course the data was skewed against solos, because hardly anyone wanted to play someone else's character in content. With WoTL 2, FINALLY giving us a solo challenge, now we'll see how many people play the solo, and I'm betting it's going to be a HUGE number... probably more than the devs expect. And also what you said about Duos is wrong, as noted by Sechuran Fox, that Alerts and Duos are the most popular... but again, data skewed against solos because of horrible Iconics. I think ALL DLCs should have some form of solo play, they shouldn't discriminate against solo players like they did with HoP2, do they not understand how much money they lost because of this? I, and I know many others, would have spent a lot of money on replay badges to get MoF to buy the HoP2 vendor gear... but since they added 'symbols', they've made it impossible for solo players or players who don't like "New Gods" content to buy the vendor gear. Their thinking was they would force these players to play the content to get the gear, but instead, they drove players out of the game and thereby not putting any further money or time into it; this is definitely something they should rethink because it doesn't make any economical sense to alienate ANY potential game-supporting players.
If you really think about it, the reality is that no matter how the Devs release content, everyone will be disappointed in some way or another. I know saying "everyone" is pretty bold, but I'm also pretty confident in that. We go off the assumption that the Devs said they can only do so much in a DLC (it seems 5 is the number), along with the assumption that regardless of the group size it takes the same amount of time to create each piece of content (i.e. Duos requiring the same amount of work as a Raid). With those assumptions in place, someone will either get left out, or feel they aren't being represented enough. By that I mean the Duo people get 1 instance and say they want more. In order for the Devs to do that they have to take away the Alert or the Raid. Well now all of a sudden the Large Group guys are flaming that the DLC has nothing at all for them (cue Amazon Fury release ... sheesh). So they give raids to those guys, but have to take away solo missions. Now the soloists are up in arms that there's nothing for them (cue Halls of Power release). So what happens when you can't please everyone enough? You just make sure you give everyone a little bit (cue War of the Light 2 release). Every group gets something, even if they think it's not enough and complain they want more. But you know what? Too bad. I'm sure if the Devs could do more than 5 things then they would. But this way, everyone gets at least 2 things over the course of 6 months (or so), and gets it once every three months rather than twice every six. I think that regardless of our wants out of DLCs we can all agree that fewer things more frequently is better than more things less frequently.
i think it would be awesome if every instance in the game was "Walk in Type" as in u should be able to run an A and B solo, retrofitted to the number of Group members, as well as a 8 man inside say... since were doing lantern stuff next content. what if we could have 8 man Metropolis City Hall, Difficulty is set on how many people u have, that would be alot of work on the devs part but, would be really freakin cool
It's 2 per day (5 days = 10 = unlock that Ferris Aircraft instance - same time stretch concept as DLC8 and 10 just 1 less open world mission per day).
Without knowing how "War of the Light 2" will play I like what were getting with it. I like the "a little for everyone" approach. Were getting some solo missions, a duo, some four man content and an 8 man op. Seems perfect to me. I like Home Turf/Sons of Trigon/Amazon Fury style daily solo missions. I'm hoping we get a few for "Hall of Power 2" set on New Genesis and or Apokalypse.
This wont be bad if they correct the change of best gear being raid drops. If someone wants to just grind the solo and duo they should be able to buy the best gear. If i want to nitpick they shouldve made one of the alerts a duo, so we had a little less large group content, but i will give the devs credit of trying to ewual things. Unfortunately with the late change, we are going to see more tier 6 raids than duos.
