So far this weekend it's been a bust I haven't gotten any Monitor Energies or Canary Cries yet How's everyone's else's luck?
Garbage. I consider those OP items to be unattainable. They either require hundreds of millions of dollars on the broker, or they require running the content daily across multiple characters just to earn enough for a single character. Drop rates are too poor to make it worth working for. By the time they can be earned, they won't actually be upgrades.
Chaos Gotham was the first time they changed the OP items from collection drops to the catalysts. It was possible for all of my alts to get the OP item. The drop rate was excellent. But each DLC after that, the drop rate is terrible. In the BOP dlc, after each of my alts farming for the Canary Cry Resonance, I can only get enough for 1 toon to complete it. If I had tons of in-game cash, I could just buy all of the stuff from the broker. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Forget about the Monitor energy. That drop rate is just too low and the prices on broker are too high. I understand that they want to give the players a reason to play and grind for these items. But the drop rate is just too poor. I would have expected a few (not all) of my toons to have the OP item by now, which would be fair. But nothing is fair in game or in life.
I heard from someone that there's an individual buying up all the Monitor Energy on the broker then reselling it for of course triple the price. I'm assuming Canary Cry are expensive on broker for that reason too. It's just an insane buyer's market right now. I agree other than trying to get it on multiple alts I'm not sure I'll get enough to get the OP gear in time for the next episode. My luck with catalyst drops went way down since last weeks Bonus Catalysts. I was hoping this weeks Double Lex Coins would reset me to some normal drops but no such luck. Super weird I seem to be getting less Canary Cry near the end of the episode relevancy though?
at the start of each new dlc the first thing i go after on my main is the OP piece. I save all my marks. I replay a little but i usually wait to spend my replays when we get to the first bonus marks week/end. usually by the time we get to the first bonus marks weekend its in the bag. This one was the easiest one to obtain. I hate to say it but the OP items are very easy to obtain if you're willing to throw money at the problem. Replays to quickly earn marks for the vendor catalysts. in game cash to buy enough of the special drop. If you've been playing a long time and know other venues to obtain these things more power to you. Generating money in the game/Playing the broker/Spending money on TCs to hopefully get a super rare item to become an instant billionaire is a skill in itself. we all have our own ways of going about things. For me its a mix of everything. Right now the only thing i need to get my primary alt her own set of amazo legs is about 20 more canary cries. i can afford it in the broker but i also dont have much more to leave me feeling "not broke" in game. I do think players are being too greedy in the broker. If you're buying them the best way to buy them on the cheap is to buy them individually at their cheapest price over the course of a few days.
I feel your pain lol My one regret is at the very start I said I didn't care about the op item so I use to sell all of mine . I wondered in the beginning why are these things going for so much lol lol . I learned ofcouse why though and as I didn't care I started to get more and more lucky by not caring and thinking about it lol. I'm at the last part to rank up to level 3 . I kept getting more Canary's . The drop rates are horrible I definitely will say that but the best advice is just run stuff normally and don't think about it.
If you have the capital sitting around and time to monitor the broker, cornering a hot market is a great way to leverage it.
I made a separate post about the Canary cry, it seems you are not alone. I finally completed op on 1 out 4 toons. I'm still short 1 on toon, 2 short on another, and my main 11 short. I waited till I completed all the vender gear first before trying for the op item. I figured by then I had enough material, no so much, just enough for level 1 and 2. I didn't pay attention before because I was focus on vender gear, now I'm focus on the op legs, I just notice the bad drop rate on the canary cry. The funny thing, The Harley ABC Gum is way cheaper then the Canary on the broker. I believe devs needs to put the Canary Cry in the vender so we have the option to by some. I feel like I'm about to beat my head against the wall hearing Jimmy say I think I will call him Amazeballs, hmm no I will call him Amazo!" This isn't grinding any more it is straight up torture...lol
Not finna lie, I gave up on the OP legs. I will never have it leveled before it becomes obsolete. I will one day complete the legs and get the feat...in 2043.
I came back to the game 4 weeks ago after a 7 month break. I have OP waist and legs. Sometimes you just gotta want it. sell what you have to. Ieveled 5 toons to endgame content in that first week because I knew that's what it was gonna take. I'm sorry your drop rate for canary cries are bad but there are other ways to grind and hustle towards something like this. I love the challenge. Have a good day everyone!
I go through some dry spells. But there are also numerous times i end up getting multiple drops in a single instance. I seem to have better luck with these than i ever did when OP items were collection based.
I like to get it done ASAP so I spend hundreds of millions each episode. What I find hilarious is that I reset so much but barely get anything. The second I complete the op item, now they want to drop more frequent. Make some money back which is better than nothing lol
I've gotten a total of 23 Canary Cry's since the episode launched. I've pretty much given up at this point on getting the OP legs.
The drops rates aren't good, but I still prefer the catalysts over collections. I'm still struggling to finish a lot of the older OP collections. How is everyone else doing on older OP collections?
That is true the current system while exceedingly slow if only playing on one character at least you are guaranteed to eventually complete it. The collection based system not so much.
The drop rate on the Canary Cry are so frustratingly bad that I've ended up taking a break from the game. After reaching level 2 on the OP legs it took me several weeks of daily runs just to get 1 Canary Cry.
I think the JLD OP back was the best approach for OP items to date. Grindy for sure but achievable across the board. It helped that you could get a lot of the consumables just running the event content as well.
I think they should do something where the drop rates for the catalysts needed for breakthroughs increases exponentially once a DLC is considered "old". For example, once a new DLC is dropped, the number of people running raids for a previous DLC drops drastically. Yes, it's possible to get a group together to feat hunt a raid. For most feats, you only need to go in a few times. (Excluding the feats that requires you to do something 25+ times) But in order to run a raid the amount of times needed for you to collect all the necessary catalysts for an OP item? Forget about it.... it's challenging enough to get them all during the normal lifespan of a new DLC. Once it is "old"? Impossible. Yes, by that time, it may not be worth it to get the OP item for its stats. But many new and returning players are trying to get them for the feat points. Devs, please think about doing this, or just having these catalysts available for purchase somewhere once a DLC becomes "retired" meaning its currency has been converted to Source marks.
