In GU47 gear mods will no longer raise CR my question is why? they implemented them to help people raise their CR faster and easier and then make them irrelevant?
Things change, the game is moving in a different direction. I for one don't really have a problem with that particular change I always looked at the mods as a slight stat boost versus a CR boost kind of what I think the original intent of them was when they were 1st introduced at the end of Tier 3.
"And that brings us to the last major advancement change. Mods no longer contributing to your Combat Rating. There's a number of reasons we did this. For one, we need to be able to predict what your CR will be in order for the new monthly episode plan to work. Because modding can cause your CR today to swing as much as 15 points, that plan would be impossible otherwise. Modding is also a serious barrier to advancement. You definitely need to be modding your gear to be the best and challenge the highest, most difficult elite content. However, is it really necessary to be fully modded up to take on low and middle level duos or alerts? No and most players are just filling those slots with whatever to get the CR they need and only really worrying about what's in that mod slot when they are top tier."
We need to clear something up, the mods are NOT becoming irrelevant. While they may no longer raise CR, they still serve a purpose....to raise your stats!!! For those wanting to maximize your output on whatever your role is, you will still prefer to create a mod than to buy a synthetic. Regards, M
I don't know, but I think it's a mistake. Modding is part of the games revenue generation system... Scanners and total recovery kits, R&D stations (portable & base). Even selling feat unlocks to alts is part of the process, when you power level an alt. I enjoy modding my main and the ability to skip tiers with an alt. I've done it twice now. Skipping is the most likely way to get me to play a new toon. Buying a bunch of recovery kits along the way. I really hope that the devs have thought out the repercussions of GU47. Much of it seems like it's geared towards ending revenue generation sources. I wonder if the new guy has ever played the game for any length of time.
Ok, so I am gathering here that mods will no longer boost CR but they will still have an effect on stats. So, do the stat boosts remain the same or is it a standard boost no matter what type of mod (crafted or synthetic) you put in?
Any1 know how much synthetic mods cost on test. Are they all 5 marks tier 3 mods just like tier 7 mods?? I just worry about mods for the infants they trigger not cr btw
The boosts are not the same. The IL 100 rings have an affinity of 55 precision on live atm. The new IL 108 rings have an affinity of 43 precision. Last time i checked 55 and 43 are not the same. Also the increase in stats from VIe mods to VII mods is tiny. And with the new CR scaling stats mean even less. The affinities are different and obviously the stat boost from VIe mods to VII mods is also not the same #.
