Everyone has their own opinión about the MODIRA but...which is the opinión of the whole forum? To rrach this i thought about one idea, each user will put the three most difficul raids (3 is a good number, you can vote for more but please do not vote for all the raids) and we will sum up the votes to reach that tier.

    About the rules:
-Here we are talking about real hard difficulty: Those that make you think twice before going in, those that give you Vietnam flashbacks, those that...to sum up: Random queue with random people, not that easy elite+++ raid with your premade group which know the mechanics and read the chat and....just kidding, vote for the raid you believe it is hard.

-Give a tiny reason why do you believe it is hard.

-The will be three tiers: Normal level (expected level, 1 vote), Coffee level (to almost read level, 5 votes), Modira level (10 votes or more).

PS: if there is enough participation, maybe we could do a MODIAL thread too.
  2. Cyfaill Well-Known Player

I'll start the thread with my three ones:
-Prison Break, the fight against the Mercenary? And the turrets, in fact is not that hard (left side, kill a couple of turrets, be careful with the drone and to kill the boss) but very disbandable so be careful before joining.

Starro spindrift, not due to the bombs but the oxigen part, most of the time people take all the oxigen as fast as posible instead if doing it peacefully.

-Monsters of Metal, Mr. Frigo fight, to broke the ice with the big ice boy seems an imposible task some times.

So the ranking for the moment:
    MODIRA

    Coffee

    Normal
    -Prison break (1 vote)
    -Starro spindrift (1 vote)
    -Monsters of metal (1 vote)

I'm assuming you aren't including E level either (you mentioned E+++, but not just 'E') seeing as that would eliminate about half the runs that don't have an E version.

These are NOT difficult raids if you know what you are doing, but for pure 'I'll never run that with randoms' difficulty, I'd say.
MoM - I get tired of having to solo carry the canisters and die as people try to 'kill' BWL
TSW - BLOCK THE BEAM is way too hard to understand for many, and the 3 hour kick lock makes it so I can't 'fix' them.
NGN - That last boss is a wipefest, and first boss can be too

For the record, ToTD would have been in there vs MoM, but they nerfed the essence mechanic, so it's now moron random friendly.

Not sure on all the 'coffee' level and I'm not using your abbreviation, as it would be better as MDR.;) It would be way more 'fetch' that way.

    PS...isn't this a 'poll'?

Most difficult for the "relevant CR at that time" for running that content, the answer is simple.

Paradox Raid, and Darkseids war factory.

Dunno how many times I random queued for those two raids and found myself building my own group later.

Eventually I didn't queue raids anymore unless I built my own team.

Disclaimer: Since I'm not getting paid for my input ( :D?), I'm ignoring problematic raids I really like- objectivity level 70% Activated!

    Including only normal/reg content:

    3. FoS1: The Chasm- A messy, non ADHD-friendly adventure that if run with less experienced/bad sense of direction players leans heavily on vets or eats up time that usually isn't worth the payoff (unless you're really new).

    2. [WoL2] Love and War- Metropolis open world design intro too gimmicky and can drag on unnecessarily, and depending on how the last couple bosses are handled, things can get ugly in the right (wrong) situation. Mostly suffers from lack of familiarity, though.

    1. [Metal1] MoM- Previously mentioned a couple times, the format caters to coordination, and that's a rare luxury sometimes. MoM just might send you outside for some fresh air or make you go to bed for a nap afterwards.

Good luck on your study! :)

This is my top "I'm never pugging this raid again" raid. In addition to always having that one (or sometime two) player who just can't seem to grasp the idea of "Block, or we wipe. Again." there's also the ones who never figure out that if you don't turn the cogs on the Source Titans, they will get back up. Pugs just don't seem to ever understand, this is not a "pew-pew-pew" raid. This is a "Do the mechs or we wipe. Again." raid. This is the only raid I've ever been in that could not be completed in less than 2 hours -- and that is completely on the players.

If this is the one I think it is (where you wind up fighting Steppenwulf and a couple of the Furies in the Conversion chamber), a lot of players apparently hate playing it. I don't think I've ever come into this raid from the beginning. I always, always, always come in just in time to participate in the wipe-fest.

My third would be Cursed Themysira. People seem to get that they have to stop attacking Diana when the screen says "Don't hit her while she's blocking!" And that's the last time in this raid that anybody pays attention to the screen directions. The other two boss encounters are chock-full of mechanics that have to be done, or you're not finishing the raid. Like TSW, this is not a "pew-pew-pew" raid. Yes, having a good burn helps the group finish faster, but there are times to stop button mashing and do what the screen directions tell you.

That's it and there are several things that make that last boss a bad one and quit heavy.
    1) The fight is remote and you have to enter via a teleport circle, and as some people will be coming in from the 1st section, it's easy to lock out 3 or 4 people unless you wait to enter the fight.
    2) The big push back move that hits everyone is easy to be pushed off the platform unless you are near the center of the platform and block. Forget about people putting the shields up, no way that's happening to prevent the push off. Even if you are, it's easy enough to get pushed off eventually if you are in an animation or doing a pickup, and the fixer adds will eventually heal Steppenwolf back up as more people fall off. So you'll end up with most of the group dead and respawned way before the last people die and wipe....so...
    3) people can re-start the fight while the last few are respawning...see #1 above

I don't have as much issue with CT as you can get those pickups, and a few people dying won't prevent you from finishing most times. I think I've been in reg runs on all bosses in there where we've been down to 2 or 3 and got it done. I'd take CT in a random run way before these other 2.

Oh, I agree, that's why it's my #3. The main problem is during the first battle with Hecate, because nobody ever seems to get that you have to stop the Angry Souls (or whatever they're called) before they get to her, and that you can't damage Hecate during that phase. So, 7 people are pounding on Hecate, and I wind up being the only one trying to keep the spirits from getting to her.

Mainly, CT has a lot of different mechanics, and pugs almost never want to do more than hit their rotation, so it winds up taking far longer than it should, because the second boss battle winds up being a single tank (or a tank + a healer) vs Hecate, while the rest of the group stands around watching. Honestly, I don't have a problem with the raid itself, it's the people I get grouped with, because they want to treat the boss battles like hallway adds, and just mash buttons.

I forgot to point out my favorite thing about the pairing of MoM and Spindrift in your list. It never ceases to amaze me, that in one raid, where pushing cogs is required to move things forward (MoM) people will ignore them completely...whereas in another raid(Spindrift) where controlled pressing of cogs (with the air tanks) is required, people go ham on them...as you say...wasting the air and losing the fight.

How is it that in like 99 of 100 random groups, you always catch the opposite people that will ignore cogs when attention is needed, and put too much attention on them when a little control is needed? Just DCUO things I guess.

Well, if you took that issue out of the mix, there would be NO difficult raids in the game.;)

This is why, the few times I've gotten Spindrift, when I'm not stuck doing the bit with the tubes (because no one else will do it), I insist on giving out the air. Anyone else usually either runs through the air when it's not needed, or ignores that the person doing the puzzle is running out of air, because they're too busy going "pew-pew-pew!"

It really should not be two people doing the pipe puzzle, one person fighting the adds and doling out air, and five people standing around watching. But at least it's still doable, even without the majority of the group participating.

    Touché.

Any raid that has mechanics and can’t bypass it going pew pew pew. A lot of raids I haven’t ran since the, well 2017 fiasco, so yeah.

    To name a few:
Throne Of The Dead: special ads and special boss mechanics and group makeup. Hell, all of AFp2 raids.

Love and War: last boss, can’t cc the v-ad anymore and nobody except me moves carol to avoid the skulls that wipe the groups.

Spindrift: as mentioned above, how HARD is it to stand in a circle to get the bombs???? Hard pass on that raid.

Blackest night: don’t get me started. Okay, rainbow on first boss, don’t aggro all the flipping ads, last boss mist container and the black spot/black hole mechanic. Omg, a total nightmare. The shet is easy imho, just a bit roley and mechanicy.

    Other raids too but yeah.

I randomly queued MoM the other day as a dps and EVERYONE knew what to do. It was BEAUTIFUL.

The worst thing about the NGN is having a tank that doesn't know how Ingrid works. But the last boss has a workaround if you're a flyer - I don't know exactly how it works, but it happened to me twice that instead of falling off the platform I was able to fly back. I don't know if that's a bug, I don't even know what I did.

TSW is my favorite raid, but ppl who refuse to listen ruin everything. Nowadays, if you have a good shield or enough health, you can be saved by the healer. I once finished the run as healer with a tank and a troll that survived the wipe. I always warn ppl in advance, I revive ppl if I can, but I refuse to wipe because ppl don't read chat.

You will likely have to tell me how it all works, I mostly tank.
    I don't know anything after 2016.
  17. PandoraLaBella Committed Player

The only thing that makes those raids hard or frustrating for me is people's behavior. With a good team most of them are fun.

Because ppl ignore chat/only think about damage:
    - The Source Wall (ppl refuse to block)
    - Happiness Home (ppl refuse to attack the drones)
    - New Genesis Now (ppl refuse to block and don't pay attention to the sparks)
    - Love and War (ppl refuse to block Carol and choose to attack WONDER FREAKING WOMAN while she's blocking)
    - Labyrinth of Lost Souls (ppl be killing thing they're not supposed to)
    - The Bombshells Paradox (ppl don't avoid bombs and portals)
    - Unholy Matrimony (ESPECIALLY when it comes to recovering powers, as dps will outrun tanks and healers to get their powers back - it's STUPID)
    - Prison Break (the terminals)
    - The Sixth Dimension (Anti-Monitor)
    - Cursed Themyscira (basically the entire raid, this raid will still be one of the worst to run in the future)

Because ppl hate mechanics/reading/listening to the NPCs:
    - Spindrift Station (the bombs and the oxygen part)
    - Monsters of Metal (basically the entire raid)
    - Halls of Hades (ppl don't read the locations' names and ignore when puppy is coming)
    - Throne of the Dead (ppl don't realize Ares only gets vulnerable when he take the knee, and ppl that don't realize the must fix Hades' statue when they become the zealous shade)
    - Blackest Day (ppl refuse to get away from the Book)
    - God of Monsters (ppl refuse to get in line)
    - Crown of Thorns (basically the entire raid)
    - Into the Dark Multiverse (basically the entire raid)
    - The Clock Tower (basically the entire raid)

Because ppl ignore basic math and strategy:
    - Power Core (if 1 tank and 1 healer, they should never choose the same path so both teams have a chance to survive, but ppl never think of that)
    - Assault & Battery (ppl never split fairly, they just choose the mission they like)

Because ppl don't bother waiting a little if you're not a tank or a healer:
    - With a Vengeance (open world is hushed af because there's no cap)
    - A Black Dawn (open world is hushed af because there's no cap)
    - Unpaid Dues (open world is hushed af because there's no cap)
    - Seeds of Rot (open world is hushed af because there's no cap)
    - League Hall: Lockdown (ppl don't wait for everyone to start the damn thing!)

Because ppl always bite more than they can chew a.k.a. refuse to go through the portals even though they don't have what it takes to engage all of the bosses at the same time:
    - Paradox Wave
    - Ultimate Soldier

Because ppl decide to interact with stuff/defeat adds when they could get a feat by not doing so:
    - The Prime Battleground (they always destroy the spawners)
    - False Idols (they never skip adds)
    - Fellowship of the Arcane (they always pick one of the iconics)

The Metal arc and the Sixth Dimension/Dark Knights episodes are the most interesting in the whole game, very nice storytelling. Everything there's to know about them is on the wiki, they're only hard if ppl don't read the text or ignore chat. You know, most ppl in this game only care about making damage, even if that means that the instance won't be finished.

The only reason I chose CT over TSD is because when people don't get the idea about not using orbitals, the chat starts filling up with people asking "Who's the stupid @#$% who keeps dropping their &%$#@ing orbital?", so it only tends to happen once or twice. Probably because, unlike blocking in TSW, not dropping their orbitals doesn't require them to stop pew-pew-pewing.

I actually like the raid as long as I am in a competent group. No halls with adds, 4 boss waves...sounds good. Even the beam wipe isn't to bad as they made the wise decision to have the wiper broadcast in the combat tab. That makes kicking easy if they don't follow instructions...however, as I can only kick one, and NORMALLY, the rest of the group will call to open the run, which will likely just catch another non blocking....'expert'...My ability to laugh off the wipes only goes so far.
And TSD I don't even worry about the orbital droppers...I can see that one coming a mile away and haven't died to the response orbitals in a long time. And I'm very good at pickups. At least I know they won't be dropping another orbital for a few min, and we should hopefully be done by the time cooldown is over.

It would be nice if they had the person who triggers the response orbital in combat though. That would be another kick heavy run.
