All im gonna say is keep your expectations low. If the new large content dlc meets your expectations than you wont be disappointed. But if its even a little better than you will be more satisfied. ;) :D

*but i did like quarterly content a bit more than monthly, so im still happy(not that happy).

Well sure I want to believe that and want that stuff, but history proves otherwise.

This post is a text book example of the selective amnesia I have referenced a couple of times in discussion about which model was better.

If you think even a small portion of your list is now viable because the developers are adopting a "done when it's ready" policy, then I'm sorry to say that you're sadly mistaken.

When the episodes were coming out Quarterly, the quality was not always better. There are a couple of occasions where the quality was much better than some of the episodes we've seen recently, but it wasn't a win every time. Likewise, there have been some really good pieces of content released since the game shifted to Monthly episodes, too, such as the Iceberg lounge Solo and the Harley's Heist duo to name a couple.

DLC8 had literally every single positive you mentioned here, including open world bounties which "brought the community together" and yet you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who would call that their favourite episode. Because the episode didn't add anything to the game at the time. It offered inferior gear and there wasn't any new, tough content to overcome. What this confirms for me is that high quality content does not necessarily instantly mean good quality and memorable content.

There are many occasions where the developers recycled maps and didn't include cut-scenes or new bosses in content. DLC7 comes to mind, where neither raid had a closing cut-scene, despite all the potential. DLC7 finished the DLC2 story line in the Paradox Wave raid and that got about as much of a deserving ending as the War of the Light storyline got in the Nekron raid. Yet many will tout Paradox Wave as one of the greatest raids the game's ever done.

The only way Large Episodes are going to work is if progression is overhauled. If progression isn't overhauled and made much fairer and require more effort than spamming 1 instance using cheese and replay badges, then I don't see how it'll be any better than it has been for the past 3+ years.

You do realize nothing is really changing in terms of what you get right? Instead of spread out you will get the same thing we are getting now but you have to wait longer to get it. You also realize they can push it back easier because there is no "deadline" to keep it monthly. We might get some open world, but I would not count on anything earth shattering to happen. Bounties haven't brought the community together since maybe dr light. The bounty in new genesis was a flop, people were not in the zone enough, it was painful to get that feat.

A 6-8 month wait is way too long for people to wait. I just hope enough do so the game doesn't disintegrate. Having more down time is a good thing, so people can play alts, and get caught up on skill points, but 6-8 months seems a bit painful. They should reduce the cost of subs during this time period or allow people to suspend their subs while waiting on content to play. They should also do a very quick hot fix on nature and electric before they "balance" them. At this rate it will be over 2.5 years of mediocrity.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but realistically, there will be flaws that many are just over looking.

6mos is a stretch..I agree..but I hope they make it worth it...I realize this companies track record is also not so great..but I will remain hopeful and get them a break

    Why?

I mean, what past evidence leads you to "remain hopeful and get them a break".

a lot depends on how the removal of cr relevancy is handled.

i'm not expecting miracles. i think when all is said and done things won't be much different than they are now. newer content might be a little easier for the prepared (mainframe and league proficiencies, well modded gear, respectable sps) and harder for those who aren't. older content might offer a little more resistance beyond a four week window.

What I'm hoping for is a solid dlc.

the thing is we have this new guy in charge who has a successful track record in the same genre and an admitted love of the lore. we have no idea what to expect content wise beyond amazon fury 3. this guy really needs to step up and show us his face and give us a little taste of what he has in store.

If you guys have no hope of improvement, why do you still play the game?

past history suggests all the same frustrations and lack of addressing core issues will continue just how it was before with quarterly DLC, then monthly, now quarterly DLC again.

the only new thing is the 5-6-7 months between having something new to grumble about.

I've seen the announcement and while I am a bit excited I'm also kinda worried about the 6 month gap that is going to happen after that...

From many games I've been playing, DCUO is probably one of the few games where I pretty much got hooked on. Played the game since 2012 had a break in 2014 and came back in 2015.

I'm just worried that the game will die in those 6 months gap and that is almost forcing me to quit as well, untill the new dlc will come out. Sure I can do like farming feats, styles etc, but eventually it will become boring especially feats lol, and since I do believe many people will take a break or quiting DCUO during those months, it's almost forcing me to do that as well. Because what fun is it when the watchtower or hall of doom are completly empty, or that your almost the only one online from your league..

So yeah where the devs prepare for this? Sure the result will (hopefully) worth it having a bigger DLC and spend much time at it and all, but I hope those 6 months will be joyable as well. Any thoughts?

I look forward to the new PvP gear :) It's been a very long time since we've had new content in PvP.

Yeah I'm also excited for the new PvP content. I only wish that PvP should get more atention and be the more center of the game instead of PvE

I will be here getting that new pvp gear. But i wont be subbed. Unless its the tail end of august and my 1 month hasnt run out yet. I feel sorry for people who bought a year sub or recently did 6 months. Back in jan i asked my league should i do a year or 6 months? I wanted to do a year. They talked me out it :) The other day i had to thank them all. Because the 6 months i did end on the 13th and i was about to do 6 months again. Now im doing 1 for ep26 and thats it. Saved me a good chunk of $$$

You definitely have seen far to much into what will be happening with the end of the monthly Episode cycle.

But I do agree this change is a good thing.
  17. Dragon1576 Active Player

It's probably been asked already but with big content coming back out does this mean it will also have a new area with it like the big content updates did before
  18. Backseid Devoted Player

That couldn't work. Not enough people like PvP type content. They'd lose 75% of their player base.
