Metalloid scraps only giving the minimum?

It seems like since the end of last week that items dropped in 18 and 19 are only giving the minimum number of Metalloid scraps when salvaged-- 2, 4, or 5 are the numbers that I have seen. Has the chance to get more been removed or am I just having horrible luck?

As with most required drops, the amount of scraps you get is completely..ahem..."random" ...the fact that lower number of scraps encourages more replays is merely a coincidence :D

I almost always get the minimum. About once a week I'll get a rare 5 scraps from a green piece, but usually only 2/4/6 scraps from green/blue/purple gear. Salvaging the more "expensive" gear (weapons/chest/legs/etc. vs. rings/face/etc.) doesn't seem to make a difference.

On the day R&D went live, my first green salvage was for 24 scraps. (Boy did that get my hopes up for future salvages!) Today, I got my 2nd occurrence of 24 scraps from a green. So yeah, it's rare to get anything but the minimum, but there's a small chance you can get lucky.

Who the heck would replay for scraps? That's the biggest reach of the week.

I seem to get the lower number as well.

One time I got 19 scraps from a 119 drop.

    Today I got 6 scraps from a 133 drop.

While I wish the scrap count was higher, it's all good. Almost 400 scraps towards my first piece of gear.

This is what most of us wanted, right?

Getting the minimum is what happens most of the time and is what costs are based on. Everything else is bonus.

    Hmm, ok.
Hmm ok...8 drops a day as of right now(not adding in weekly raid) will give you 16 scraps a day, running every day comes out to about 480 scraps. So by the 5th week I can finally make my mask. Oops forgot, now we would be on month 3 and I need to start working on trying to make my 2 rings....what will that take another 6 weeks? And as others have said, forget about making another mask for your 2nd role.

It will be interesting to see say after 4 months of this R&D system how many mask and rings are really created. This was a good idea, just imo implemented poorly. There should have been a set number on each salvaged item (example: green 5, blue 15, purple 20, elite 30), not place and RNG system on something that was supposed to help against RNG.

Or there should have been no mandatory items that need to be crafted, the best CR mask and rings should have been put into the loot table.

You need 500 scraps to craft just the mask...

The scrap numbers were better a week ago. Maybe to good in DBG eyes

That's if you only need 1!
I've given up on the mask (bought 2 131 for 44 marks.) and will save them for my 4 rings. My toons have between 600 -250 scraps each after 6 weeks.
Pretty Pitiful I may give up on scrapping altogether. It's a total waste of time and energy for such a litttle gain.

I got a box of 264 scraps 2 nights ago from a blue item in the new alert.

A lot of people fret over the numbers in Mepps original post, but if you actually participate in the system, selecting only gear and salvaging every piece, you'll be ahead of the estimates.

I'm on 980+ scraps, currently and the system has only been live for just under 6 weeks. That's way beyond the estimates, even without the 264 scraps bundle.

Participating in the system doesnt mean or guarantee anything. Its all based on how lucky you are. Ive been running content and salvaging gear for 5 weeks now and im only at 485.
Im still not able to craft the mask, still missing one piece (chest) from Blackest Day and rings are around the corner. It doesnt look good to me.

If I was in your situation, I'd build the chest now, because it's got less than 2 months of relevancy left. Then I'd build the mask and focus on the rings last. If you build the mask next followed by the chest, you're wasting time.

The system isn't flawless, but it's much better than what we had. Never before could you get that chest which continues to avoid you. You could log into the game right now and build it immediately if you wanted, though. That's a step in the right direction, in my opinion.

The only way R&D gear can be the system everyone wants it to be is if the community can convince the developers it's how they wish to earn the best gear. They could then have special "scraps weekends" and stuff where the quantities are improved or whatever. Or special events like something which was suggested and expanded upon last night with a stat-clamped raid in the events tab that rewards scrap bundles instead of marks.

Unfortunately, this game is polluted with lazy players who have zero desire to achieve anything. The sort of player the R&D gear system appeals to is long gone and playing something else much more fulfilling. So the odds of it becoming the system you want it to be is probably slim to none.

    Lol

The character in the gif in your sig inspired the mortal kombat
character Raiden. That movies special effects were pretty darn good.

Yes of course its better than what we had. But that doesnt means its good. Like i said many times, fighting RNG with more RNG is not the solution. Make it a set number instead of random, remove the luck of the equation.
I dont care the cost for each piece, but when all you get is 2s and 4s...the system its not very helpfull.

    Yes sir.

After the solution to the "Best Gear Vendor Thread" I knew there was a catch.

I began paying attention to my Scraps realizing there's not a set number for each. I don't care anymore to be honest.

The RNG in this game has become too much. I've been sticking to vendor gear best or not; two or three dlc's ago. The Grind in this MMO has too much RNG Progression tied with relevancy content which is the turn off for many people. Also very much so the major problem with PVE overshadowing the luxury of monthly content.

I'm just happy will still get Vendor Gear even if not best. I'm fine with my Max Vendor CR; if any drops comes my way or I get enough Scraps for a Piece so be it.

The only thing in this game that isn't a "cap shoot" is the Vendor gear. Being that this gear is no more than high priced styles, it doesn't do anything to make me log in.

These guys have zero concept of what the term "grind" means in games of this nature. There should NEVER be "random" in a grind. People that play games like this, long term, do so cause they know what they do WILL have a positive outcome. Because they KNOW how many runs it takes, or how many creatures to kill, or how many of X to collect.

    Pathetic.
