PSN started charging taxes on certain subscription services and purchases in 2016. Not every region was affected at the same time and not all purchases/subscriptions, either. This is on Sony's side, not Daybreak as purchasing the membership on the PC is not taxed (last I checked). Thank You for the link. This has NEVER happened before. This just started this month, after the 3 month renew was over.
It is frustrating that Sony doesn't have to tell you ahead of time if the tax is about to happen in your region. Sounds to me like it happened earlier this year for your region, but since you had the 3 month subscription you didn't see it until now.
