So I just got back into DCUO and I was looking to buy the aura packs when I read the description it says I can trade it to another character on my account same with other things and I thought that if I buy it on one character I could just redeem it on others like normal but I don't think that's the case so will I have to buy them both twice for my other characters or can I just redeem it like normal
If you purchase the aura pack on one toon, you can redeem the auras on your other toons via the Marketplace Redeem/Claim window at the top.
Ok thank goodness cause the way I read the description I thought I would have to buy them twice thanks man
Some auras are redeemable on all characters, but some are single-use, and Account Bound. It's important to check which you are buying. Since the OP said that "the description it says I can trade it to another character on my account", then if that is the description, and not a re-stating or a paraphrase, then that aura is only usable by one character.
Compare and contrast "This item is redeemable for every character on the account" and "This item can be traded only to other characters on your account". If you are buying either Aura Pack, you get to use each Aura once, not on every character, but you can trade them to other characters on that account. In short, TheLorax is completely wrong here. I hope you haven't bought it yet ?
In fairness to TheLorax, many style items are "buy once, use many", but Aura packs are not amongst them .
Actually, he's right. The description is very ambiguous, but they are redeemable on all toons. The style items say the same thing. The hairstyle packs as well. They all say "this item can be traded only to other characters on your account." They're poorly worded in my opinion.
All aura items on the Marketplace are redeemable on every toon in your account. That goes for Aura pack 1 and Aura pack 2 as well. (I have both of them, and can confirm it).
Might want to get correct information before spreading misinformation, especially when correcting other players who know what they're talking about. Do you have the aura packs? Did you do any research on them, lol?
Yes, I have Aura Pack I. It actually didn't occur to me to redeem it on other characters, due to the description, and the fact that they are all Account Bound. You learn something new every day .
It's not ambiguous at the point of purchase though, is it? It's quite plainly not the same (to a prospective purchaser) as "is redeemable for every character on your account", or why have the different wording? In reality, it's the same - but when you're choosing what to buy, it affects your decision and your expectations. Fortunately, it won't let you buy it more than once.
Yeah, I totally agree that the wording probably turns people off to buying this stuff sometimes. The only way to understand the difference between buying armories and buying these aura packs, etc. is literally to investigate on the forums or check out videos on the internet. It's really sad that the description in the marketplace doesn't just come out and say, "hey, if you buy this, it's for all your present and future characters." You'd think it would be a major selling point, but hey, what do I know about marketing, lol?
If they're your own eyes, that's totally fine. If you're rolling other people's eyes, that's pretty creepy.
I imagine that the wording conveys the original intent - to make them one-offs. Otherwise, why are they even tradeable? I can only give them to other characters that already have access to them? Perhaps if consuming additional copies gave some sort of different cosmetic, that would matter... In fact *there's* an idea - levelling up Auras by consuming multiple copies? At least I've now found out (rather belatedly) that I can access all the auras on each account - so thanks for that info . This ties into a particular bugbear of mine - that there is no *useful* manual for the game produced by DBG. There's a whole game's worth of stuff that has little or no reliable information from the creators, and sites like DCUO Wiki are woefully out of date (and don't include info on e.g. using the interface). I have a grand scheme in mind that will tie together several conversations I've had in-game and on the forums over the last year, and attempt to address this. Watch this space.
This is me every morning with my coffee, while reading forums, but in fairness, I think a few do the same reading my stuff LOL
